Happy New Year, Gran2! Given your vast contributions to film pages, and recommendations by other editors to contact you, I thought I could solicit your assistance. I've submitted two articles for peer review, and thought that you might like to critique them:

  • Duck Soup. I've listed this article for peer review because, even though I and other editors have contributed much information and references, I'm certain that there are other aspects of this classic film that have yet to be covered. I'd like to hear feedback from you, so that I can get help in improving this (and other Marx Brothers films) quality.
  • Princess Leia Organa. I've listed this article for peer review because it right now seems oddly cluttered and, despite a lot of references as of now, lacks reliable source citations. Although I've already requested another peer review, as long as it helps the articles get better, I've got the time. Comments and suggestions are appreciated, as this should help me in expanding other Star Wars-centric articles.

If you have the time, it'd be great if you could look over those two articles and assess their strengths and weaknesses. Thanks, and, once again, a Happy New Year to you! — Cinemaniac (talkcontribs) 22:40, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

More awards

I discovered another award that the Simpsons Movie was nominated for and lost, from the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards. Check the awards page for a source if you want to add itto the Movie page. -- Scorpion0422 22:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Check this out, it's Pretty much an EXACT copy of the page here, except this one is an FA for some reason... -- Scorpion0422 20:27, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
It's an absolute disaster. Some show specific Wikis like Lostpedia are very good, but that one has fallen into neglect. Some of the pages there too are exact copies of English wiki articles. -- Scorpion0422 20:55, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
I've considered doing that a couple of times too, but it would be a losing battle because from what I can tell, there are very few active users, and there is quite a bit of vandalism and advertising there that goes unreverted. As for the Simple English Wiki, I've discovered almost a dozen pages there that are exact copies of the stuff we done, and I've been trying to get it removed. They've been telling me that since Wikipedia is public domain, it's not a copyright violation but no matter how you look at it, it's Plagiarism. -- Scorpion0422 21:13, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

it's pretty funny to see the great lengths the user went to to make it not look like a copy and paste job because he waited weeks (sometimes months) between articles. On the Flanders article he pasted sections to the page bit by bit and even added a construction tag to it. The funny part is that he didn't even try to make the language simple and it contains words like nonsensical babbling, unbearable piousness, humorless fascists and cynicism and Homer Simpson actually made it to FA there with such simple words as intolerant, dysfunctional and Aristotelian. -- Scorpion0422 01:08, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

And speaking of Flanders, I was wondering if it would be worth mentioning that a notable NHL goalie has an image of Flanders on his mask, I even found a source for it, and I'm sure there are more. -- Scorpion0422 01:25, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Keep an eye on User:Fifaworld07, he stated that he wants to create pages for every Tracey Ullman short here, and then created a page for Mimi Pond, who wrote the pilot for The Simpsons and nothing else. Either way, it could be a REAL headache if he decides to go ahead with pages for the Ullman shorts. -- Scorpion0422 04:09, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

WP:LOTD

In the last month, you have created a new WP:FL. From what I can tell, you are a veteran and have produced others in the past. Congratulations! You may be aware of WP:LOTD and have probably heard from me in prior months. We are experimenting with selecting Lists of the Day so similar to the current WP:TFA and WP:POTD features that run on the main page. I am invite those who have created new FLs in the last month to participate.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTD) 22:11, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Just putting myself in Merton's shoes, I wouldn't be impressed with the picture. I'm sure there are lots of articles that could (and probably have) include(d) a sub-par photograph that have been removed by other users, so I wouldn't take it personally, which you seem to be doing. I've already started the process of finding a replacement on Flickr, and the owner of this one is willing to let it be used on Wikipedia (the conversation continued via e-mail), but she wants to add it herself because part of an online course she's taking includes a section about editing Wikipedia. - Dudesleeper Talk 14:24, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Apologies for insulting your photography skills. It obviously wasn't set up for the perfect photo, so I suppose it was the best you could do. My issue was more with UpDown, who seems to spend his time reverting other people's edits. And when that doesn't work, he asks his bum-chum Brad to help out. - Dudesleeper Talk 23:09, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Question

Hey, can you tell me what color my sig is coming up? I'm on my cousins computer, and it is all black, along with all my other sigs, and I can't figure out what is going on. Do you see all blk or the rainbow? Ctjf83 talk 15:51, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

aww, what the hell?! noone told me it changed to blk, and my own comp kept showing rainbow...ugh...how is it now? Ctjf83talk 16:12, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
I figured out what it was...a user said they she had a shorter sig for me, so i used that, and my computer browser must not have cleared the old one, so it was showing up rainbow on mine, but noone elses....oh hell!! I haven't been representing in 2 months...oh well, it's all better now, thanks! would it be too crazy if i used AWB to change all my sigs to the current one...or should i not worry about it...lol, it's not really a big deal, so i guess i answered my own questiong...thanks again! Ctjf83talk 16:20, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

FACs

I'm still awaiting a copyeditor, but it'll be soon. What do you reckon we should collaborate on next? Alientraveller (talk) 17:43, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's hard to keep up interest if there's no new films in a franchise. Sad, I know, but the easiest time to work on an old film for me is when a sequel or remake comes out. I got that problem with LOTR: two-and-a-half years until The Hobbit. I don't own the Potter films on DVD. Do you have the Rings Extended Editions? Alientraveller (talk) 17:57, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Cool. And I guess it's my turn now! Alientraveller (talk) 21:36, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, after all that, it gets nominated by a random editor anyway. In case your curious, its the same editor that nominated it before, plus the Treehouse of Horror and Homer Simpson articles. Oh well, I hate it when things fail, lets try and get it to pass. I'll print out a copy and copyedit it while I'm in class (it's a three hour one, so I'll have lots of time). -- Scorpion0422 14:43, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, he withdrew it moments before I left you the message. I was going to ask you when you thought it would be ready, but lets give it a few more days, do some more copyediting, maybe ask Zagalejo to look at it because he's a good copyeditor, then go for an FAC on Friday.
As for the episodes, I was hoping that some members would be open to merging a few of the less notable episodes, but it looks like consensus is for keeping them. I think for now we should wait it out (but still source a few episodes) but just wait for ArbCom to make their decision and if anyone decides to come after Simpsons episode pages, then we'll start improvements then. In all honesty, I'm sick of episode pages and I was hoping to move on to improving all of our existing character pages as they are considerably more important than episodes. -- Scorpion0422 15:48, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm surprised really, I mean whatever people's problems they had we could have easily remedied. Alientraveller (talk) 16:38, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

It's obviously not going to get a peer review, and I think we've done as much as we can to the page, I think it's time it became an FAC. -- Scorpion0422 16:11, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Sure. Hopefully this FAC will be quicker than the one for the Treehouse of Horror series (it's been an FAC for 40 days). -- Scorpion0422 16:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

DVD cover

I was planning to expand the DVD section with some info on what the cover depicted. But then I thought it would be easier to just add an image. Something wrong with that? Buc (talk) 18:21, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I think it's very possible people may want to know what the cover looks like. Buc (talk) 18:44, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Your copyedit request

On 23 June 2007, you made a request to the League of Copyeditors for a copyedit of Troy McClure. Because of a heavy backlog and a shortage of copyeditors, we have been unable to act on your request in a timely manner, for which we apologize. Since your request, this article may have been subject to significant editing and may no longer be a good candidate for copyediting by the League. If you still wish the League to copyedit this article, please review this article against our new criteria and follow the instructions on the Requests page. This will include your request in our new system, where it should receive more prompt attention. Finetooth (talk) 01:09, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

FAC?

I'm a little surprised by your timing. With nothing going on in the PR I was planning to nom this some time soon but it made sense to at least wait for the Oscar nominations tommorow. Buc (talk) 17:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Heh, Simpsons didn't get an Oscar nom. What a shame. Alientraveller (talk) 20:54, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Nah, the Oscars aren't that important. Lol, I know got people writing that Transformers is an "Academy award-nominated film". Yeah, I think people might want (I really mean need) to know that it's based on a certain toy line... Alientraveller (talk) 21:05, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I've decided to get the ball rolling on character clean up and I've started with Homer's page. I've already cleaned it up quite a bit and added some more real world info. Would you be interested in helping or working on another member of the Simpson family? -- Scorpion0422 20:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Do you have one of those IRC accessing thingies? It's useful for talking about project stuff. -- Scorpion0422 18:27, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Notting Hill

Again you are being objective. By your reasoning Judi Dench would not appear in Shakespeare in Love. James Dreyfus may not have had as much of a role but beyond the friends his was the biggest role. And this is the US release poster where he is as much known as Kris Marshall and Andrew Lincoln. It is the impact in the role for some characters, not the screen time. And if you don't want to get someones back up don't be so prissy as to put sigh when adding a comment. (Quentin X (talk) 19:45, 23 January 2008 (UTC))

TSM

If you want to add a bit about the movie not being nominated for an Oscar, I've found some reliable sources that mention it. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] By the way, if you can get into IRC, Xihix has something that will help you with improving articles. Just go here and go to #wpsimpsons. -- Scorpion0422 16:10, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

CTC Vandal

I posted this on the more active members of the project, so I'll post it for you too....We have made a list of vandals that continually vandalizes Kill Gil: Vols. 1 & 2 by changing "Christmas" to "Crime", the list can be found here. If you revert the vandalism, i would give the warning {{subst:uw-vandalism4im|Article}} which says this is the only warning they will receive. When reporting to vandalism noticeboard link to the list of vandals, and hopefully the IP will get blocked quicker, and for a longer period of time. Ctjf83talk 21:18, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

It's taken us a while, but we finally got it done... Now what page to work on? -- Scorpion0422 15:21, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
There are lots of important Simpsons articles that need improving. I've (slowly) been working on the main family, and I was hoping to get some other project members on board for that, but they'd rather work on episodes. I was thinking we could try improving another crew member like James L. Brooks, David Silverman, Swartzwelder, Phil Hartman or Dan Castellaneta. There are some important lists out there too that really need improving, like the list of writers, directors, recurring jokes, complete list of media and more. -- Scorpion0422 15:46, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Wow, I only just realised. Excellent job Gran2! --Simpsons fan 66 23:50, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Bill

Well, it looks like he might be willing to do a chat session with us, and we may have a place to post it, (more info at WT:DOH), but it looks like it will be in the evening (around 8 PM EST, which is 1 AM in merry olde England) so you might have a hard time making it. We'll try and convince him to do two sessions, an evening one and an afternoon weekend one, so you and Maitch can join in. -- Scorpion0422 03:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

peer review

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. I you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! Wikipedia:Peer review/Heroes (TV series)/archive2--Chrisisinchrist (talk) 04:53, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

I just noticed the image of Tress, and to be honest, I'm not entirely sure if that is here. She looks quite different than she does in these images. Perhaps this is something we should get Xihix to ask Bill. -- Scorpion0422 15:38, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Looking at these images, I can see the similarities, but I'm still not entirely sure. We'll have to put it on the list of things to ask Bill Oakley I guess. -- Scorpion0422 15:44, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

And a quick question, according to your userboxes, you're a blackadder fan, so do you know if there is any truth to this? I don't watch a lot of British comedy (except Monty Python) so I have no idea, but I haven't found any reliable sources confirming it, just some posts in forums and such. -- Scorpion0422 15:50, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

In case you're interested and want more world opinions on the Simpsons Movie, I found a review from Tokyo. It's in Newsbank and you can find it by searching for "Who Shot Mr. Burns" and it will be one of only two results from Asia. -- Scorpion0422 02:11, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Martin Prince

The press release does not state that Martin will die... "Bart and Lisa are wracked with guilt when their prank goes terribly wrong they think they’re responsible for the accidental death of Martin Prince". They "think" they've killed him. It doesn't actually state that Martin died. Sillygostly (talk) 07:30, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Simpsons movie parodies Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend

It was a pretty obvious reference which I thought was made clear by the wikilink. But as you objected, I've added a citation to an outside source. It would be preferable to ask for a source, rather than simply revert. Dforest (talk) 02:14, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's no big deal. Actually I didn't know about it per se; I meant it was pretty obvious if you read the linked wiki article. You're right, citations are good. But if I didn't have the article on my watchlist, and notice the sentence was removed, I wouldn't have known to add a citation. Dforest (talk) 10:34, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

The Simpsons Wiki

I noticed your message there and I figured I'd respond here because I don't know how often you go there. Yep, I'm actually a bureaucrat there and all I had to do was tell them I thought it sucked and that I wanted to help, and voila they gave me the powers. I haven't spent too much time there but I've been creating as many articles as possible because we need more users a good way to do that is to expand coverage and hope word gets out. I've tried to avoid copying stuff from Wikipedia, but I have been copying things from deleted sections and pages from here. I've also been copying old versions of episode articles before they were cleaned up. Things have been improving because there were twice as many edits this week than there were last week, but it's going to be a long slow process before we get to be even half as good as Lostpedia.

As well, I think I'm going to merge the Simpsons DVD boxset page into the individual season pages like I did here. What do you think? -- Scorpion0422 04:15, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I threw together a list of episodes that were never produced here and I was wondering if there was a place for it on Wikipedia. I have considered doing it in the past, but I had a feeling the anti-fiction brigade wouldn't like it. Plus, I don't think we would be able to use NHC as a source, but we might be able to mention the Prince episode somewhere because Reiss talks about it in depth on the commentary for Stark Raving Dad and Matt Groening has mentioned it in several interviews. -- Scorpion0422 23:40, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of British Academy Television Awards 2008

I have nominated British Academy Television Awards 2008, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/British Academy Television Awards 2008. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Ctolson (talk) 17:05, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

AFD discussion would clearly disagree with you. Gran2 07:16, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Gran2. Just wondering, whats your opinion on the WP:Simpsons advertisment? There is an ongoing disscusion here if you're interested. --Simpsons fan 66 23:43, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I've given this a small c/e and exspanded the lead as best I can. Unfortunately the DVD of this episode that I own does not have any commentary on it so I can't anymore info from it into the article. I notice there is nothing about the opening sequence so I was think about adding that in. Not sure sure how to set it out though. I also don't think the Cultural references comes anywhere close to mentioning all the references made in this episode, for example nothing about the mention of John Denver. Buc (talk) 21:02, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

I've added the opening sequence and I think the Cultural references cover everything now. Prose and stuff from the commentary probably still an issue though. Buc (talk) 07:14, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

I've expanded the prodution section now. Still a major issue with the prose though I think. Buc (talk) 17:07, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the c/e. Do you think it's worth nominating yet? Buc (talk) 12:40, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

With all due respect, all the other Harry Potter film articles contain flagicons in both released date and country. An Oakley update

I contacted Bill Oakley myself because Xihix has been MIA for over a week and he responded. He didn't say anything about images, but I think he would rather answer questions via e-mail rather than during an IRC chat. I told him that would be okay and that we would hopefully send him our question list within a week, so if you have any to add, please do so soon. -- Scorpion0422 01:26, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

It looks like we'll be able to post it at WikiNews. I've contacted some people there and they said once the article is fully protected, it should be acceptable. -- Scorpion0422 13:38, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

azaria

hello. i don't really agree that it is 'superfluous' at all. particularly when there are several sections as in the azaria article, the logical flow of the headings is broken when life → career → personal → references all exist on the same level without consideration to their relation to another. --emerson7 14:44, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

it's not surprising that the mos gives scant little attention on this particular subject on such a granular level...except to say that sections should be properly nested. that decidedly neither supports or opposes either of our positions. in like manner, there are examples of both styles in articles throughout wikipaedia. perhaps we should open a discussion on the talk page for a consensus. --emerson7 17:40, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Gran2. I was wondering, could you please fix the screenshot at the See It, Saw It article? For some reason it is not working. Thanks. Editorofthewiki 16:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello

Thank you for the message you sent me. I am new (as you know because you sent the message) please tell me if I am doing something wrong. I think I am doing okay so far. BananaNoodle (talk) 19:13, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Alex, do you have time to answer a few questions from me about the workings of the Simpsons' WikiProject for the Wikipedia Signpost? Its distributed on Monday's, so I'll need answers before that time. Thanks for your time. Regards, Rudget 15:52, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Here's the questions! Thanks once again for accepting the offer. Rudget 11:11, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
  1. Does the Project focus just on the Simpsons or on other areas too? What are its main aims?
  2. With such a widely open topic, do you feel that articles within your scope are vulnerable to mass original research?
  3. As a sitcom, do you enjoy working with the content? Have you ever used any of the comedy, for example?
  4. Has there ever been any serious discussions within the Project that have helped it to progress in any way?
  5. Does the project's success reflect the dedication which has been displayed in the past?
  6. What is there to introduce new members?
  7. Lastly, for a little fun, who is your favourite member of the family?
They are excellent. Thank you very much. I'll make sure to pass by here again some time. Rudget 17:21, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Oakley

I've decided to send the questions off tomorrow. Since we are posting the interview on WikiNews, I decided to ask some more general questions that he may have already answered before. My logic behind this is that it will all be in one useable source and he may give a different, more detailed answer than he has before. However, I've been trying to compile a list of 20 questions and I can't think of any more. Do you have any ideas? Thanks, Scorpion0422 01:55, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't see why it would be a problem. -- Scorpion0422 23:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Differences

Well the difference is pretty obvious, you can't interpret the scene from the book they way it is in the film (changing characters states with eachother etc.). And it doesnt change the fact that the scene is very different and should really be mentioned, otherwise won't only-movie watchers think that's how it is in the books? At least tried to search the net for articles about the changes in the movies, couldn't find that much, this one calls it "-Devils Snare scene is much different."... I'm a bit disappointed at the harry potter lexicon not having it on its book/movie differences list :) ← chandler 09:55, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I've decided to start working on the article, and need a little help with sources. I've been looking for stuff I can add for a voice section, and while Reiss does say that Burns' voice is slightly based on Reagan, I would prefer to have a Shearer interview as a source. You've usually had better luck than me with sources, so could you take a look? Thanks, Scorpion0422 06:53, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
