Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Someone must have been lazy, as you have not been welcomed yet. Thank you for your contributions. Since you have been here for a while, we can pretty much assume you are not a troll, vandal, or clueless newbie. I hope you continue to like the place and don't get all grumpy and leave over nothing. Here are a few good links for newcomers, even though you aren't one:

I hope you still enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian, and won't get mad over something stupid and leave! By the way, please be sure to continue to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome, and sorry for your not being welcomed in the past! Request for edit summary[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

WikiTalmud[edit]

I just started a new project with a friend that I think you might be interested in. I would love for your imput and help in starting this up. Our goal: An internet wiki database that contains the major Jewish texts and a forum for discussing and arguing halacha. Check it out: WikiTalmud. --יהושועEric 06:56, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Paper[edit]

I'm writing a personal essay on Wikipedia for English class and I can't focus because I'm looking around Wikipedia for inspiration so I start looking around other stuff....
Funny Page btw Oh and when writing the paper, I actually tried to wikify some words before realizing it wouldn't work.... good stuff
I'll send you the paper when it's done for revisions —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Amazins490 (talkcontribs) 17:59, 15 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Re:Linkspam[edit]

Thank you for pointing those edits out to me. WP:EL strongly discourages linking to information that is unverified. If you take a closer look at the Yeshayahu Leibowitz article on that website, you will see that it is actually a diatribe disguised (barely) as a scholarly work. On an unrelated note, if you think no one knows what YMG is, why not create an article? :) Best, DLandTALK 03:29, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me explain why this paragraph doesn't belong in Wikipedia, cuz this guy just isn't getting it:

The racism which poisoned baseball permeated every aspect of American society. It is important to remeber that Jackie Robinson's courage was not unique, and that many forever-unknown individuals preceeded his resistance with their forever-unknown actions. Jackie's resolute stand for simple human decency must therefore be seen as profoundly important not only to professional sports, but to the entirety of American culture. Jackie's early resistance to racism in the military should also remind us that there were perhaps thousands upon thousands of "Jackie Robinsons" who preceeded him with similar gestures, both small and grand, but of whom we shall never know, as their lives never entered the public limelight in such a striking and spectacular manner.

Greetings, fellow Columbian. I just created a WikiProject dedicated to Columbia University, the schools, environs, and the notable people who notably affiliated with it. If you want to be part of it, please check out WP:Columbia. It is very barebones right now, but with your help we can expand it and make it fully functional. WP:AIV request[edit]

Thank you for making a report about 209.51.250.35 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. -- wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 02:34, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of an IP address I reported, you said that he had not received a warning. However, he had received a final warning (although a different edit to his page was later)... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Greatal386 (talk • contribs) 02:37, 1 May 2007.
The problem was that there was no vandalism after the final warning was given. If they vandalize again, then you should report them. wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 02:41, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Hi, I noticed you recently left warnings on User talk:Joey jefferson. Could you make sure you remember to revert the vandalism as well? Thanks, Belovedfreak 18:56, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming[edit]

It seemed like a nice thing to do, so I'll try it out a little bit. Look around here: Wikipedia:Welcoming committee

On an unrelated note, can you figure out why the logo on the Baseball Prospectus page is coming out kinda transparent-ish

Thanks -- Amazins490 02:54, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
