Kiamichi Country

Thanks for responding! The idea that the articles for Kiamichi County, Little Dixie, and Southeastern Oklahoma should be treated as separate topics is indeed what I am suggesting. I tried to clarify my proposal at Talk:Little Dixie (Oklahoma). Thanks again! Okiefromokla complaints 01:53, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I didn't revert you. Replacing three words out of a great many you rewrote is not a revert. I'm not really convinced that all singer songwriters tour as you say. Erik is known for being out there constantly. I don't think "for the most part" is clunky at all, that's your personal and entirely subjective appraisal that "frequently" is less clunky. But you didn't even have frequently in there. The text as it was suggested he had no songs at all that were not soft and personal. It would be entirely possible to sell one's CDs at a performance other than one's own. I don't think it was excess verbiage at all. Again, I didn't revert you and you shouldn't take a replacement of three words as a criticism of your rewrite. DanielM (talk) 21:58, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't criticizing you, just explaining the edits that you changed back to your prior version (whether or not we want to call that a revert). Best wishes! GreenGourd (talk) 17:39, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
P.S. I didn't say all singer-songwriters tour! To the contrary, I said that Balkey hasn't toured much recently, and his website currently suggests no major plans to do so. I *did* say that I think it's odd to separately categorize "singer-songwriters" and "touring singer-songwriters," which the lede of your version seems to do. I continue to prefer an article that simply says Balkey is a singer-songwriter. GreenGourd (talk) 18:15, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi again, GreenG. Well, when you typed "a touring singer-songwriter is not a different beast from a singer-songwriter" and "there is really no separate intellectual category of touring singer-songwriter" I guess I really did misread that as your saying that a singer-songwriter was the same as a touring singer-songwriter, which to me suggests a belief that all singer-songwriters tour. I didn't fully appreciate your nuance there, that you actually meant just the opposite! Thanks for explaining that. You're doing great, and I know you'll make many valuable contributions to Wikipedia. DanielM (talk) 00:21, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank very much for your note. I was very surprised when I discovered she didn't have a page. Like every Oklahoma schoolboy who paid attention in Oklahoma history, I had read bunches of her writing, and her biography is fascinating, so it seemed important. I guess the story was that someone had written a page that was mostly a copy of the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture article, it got quickly deleted for WP:copyvio, and there it sat. Now at least there is an article, although input is of course welcome, and indeed very much needed to get it up from its current "C" rating! --Arxiloxos (talk) 20:03, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
