Friday the 13th[edit]

Please note that I have reverted all of your edits to the Friday the 13th articles. Death lists are by nature unencyclopedic, which is why they were not on the pages to begin with. If any death was particularly notable then it would be covered with prose content, instead of a simple list.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:56, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding death lists to the Friday the 13th articles. They hold no encyclopedic value.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 21:12, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is your last warning. Death lists are not encyclopedic content, and have long been prohibited in film articles. Please do not add them to the Friday the 13th articles anymore. They are considered nothing more than indiscriminate trivia.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 21:21, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Phoenix Gate[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Phoenix Gate, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Fails notability. An object within a series which is seemingly not of prominence to the series itself, not mentioned in other articles relevant to Gargoyles.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Taelus (talk) 20:29, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Phoenix Gate, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Phoenix Gate (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Taelus (talk) 11:53, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

...Except the nomination didn't work. I guess Twinkle isn't working for me today. I'll give it some time in case it is database lag, if not I will manually add the AfD. Sorry for any potential confusion! --Taelus (talk) 12:00, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, it has eventually appeared. Sorry again for any confusion caused, first time I have made an AfD so I was scared I had done something wrong during the process when it did not appear. --Taelus (talk) 12:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Friday the 13th articles[edit]

Please do not add excessive plot info about the characters in a "Characters" section. Per WP:MOSFILMS#Cast, "avoid using the section as a repository for further "in-universe" that really belongs in the plot summary." I have reverted your recent edits, as the plot should satisfy any need to know who a character is, and if it doesn't then it's either missing basic information about the film or the character is too minor to actually make note of.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:39, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

October 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please slow down and review the policies regarding style, grammar, spelling, and wikitext. There were just too many errors in these edits. You could write a really good entry if you followed the MoS! Mjpresson (talk) 01:54, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Respect copyrights - do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
  • Maintain a neutral point of view - this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced to multiple reliable sources.
  • No Sockpuppetry.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account or IP being blocked from editing.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Here's a suggestion[edit]

Please make you read the Style guidelines for films before continuing to make large edits. Thanks. Mjpresson (talk) 01:59, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop: third warning[edit]

Please stop. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard to read formatting, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. There is a Manual of Style that should be followed. Stop adding additional unsourced and trivial material to the cast sections. It is getting difficult to fix these articles. Please see WP:MOSFILMS#Cast. This manual of style malarkey[edit]

Hi Grifterwolf. User:Mjpresson has asked if I'll have a bit of a word about style and stuff, and try to explain why some people are saying there are problems with your contribs.

The think to remember about Wikipedia is that it's like a textbook rather than a blog - it's written in a style that might seem dull (especially given that the things you want to contribute on are not dull at all!!), and also a bit picky about grammar, punctuation, that kind of stuff. The sort of thing English teachers get on to schoolkids about. Which is probably not what you want to be bothered with.--Elen of the Roads (talk) 21:56, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let me show you what I mean, using your edits on The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (definitely not a dull subject):-

==Story== First problem - the article already calls a section labelled "Plot". This is where you tell the story. It doesn't need another section called "Story". Also, on Wikipedia, the plot (story) should only be quite short compared to the rest of the article. So part of the reason people are having a problem with your addition is just that it's too long. This whole article is quite short, so your scene by scene plot summary is overwhelming it.

Now, let's look for a minute at what you are actually writing. How you have said it is fine for a blog (and it's all the right spelling, so you definitely gt the win there), but Wikipedia is more textbook.

El Superbeasto (Tom Papa) compiles a list of women for a movie he is shooting. Despite the fact that he is hiring them "simply for their talent" and not for their looks, he immediately rejects the most bizarre, elderly and hideous of the cast, only hiring on beautiful women. The film turns out to be a porno and during production, his two female costars transform, one into a werewolf and one into a Medusa. He dispatches both of them before finally calling it a night and heads for the local stripper bar.

First para is fine - too long, but the writing is OK. costars should be co-stars, and you can wikilink werewolf and Medusa as you did with porno.

While there, he encounters the beautiful (and bouncy) Velvet von Black who has all the men in the audience in a sweat by the time she's through with them. Taking her rebuffs as advances, Superbeasto falls head-over-heels in lust with her. In the meantime, Dr. Satan (Paul Giamatti) and his intelligent simian sidekick Lenny who is made so by a screw in his head. Using a sign he sees on Velvet's buttocks that will give him the infinite powers and true satanic abilities, he arranges to have her kidnapped. While Velvet is being kidnapped, Superbeasto witnesses the criminal and vows to save (and have sex with) Velvet von Black.

Beautiful is fine. Beautiful (and bouncy) is like too much man! Stick with beautiful. In the meantime.... tell me what Dr Satan and his sidekick are doing in the meantime, because you missed that bit out. "intelligent simian sidekick Lenny who is made so by a screw in his head" really could do with rewriting (see below). Still too long.

Suzi-X (Sheri Moon), Superbeasto's super-sexy sister and her sidekick Murray (Brian Posehn) are busy with a task of their own to keep killer Nazi zombie werewolves from resurrecting Adolf Hitler by stealing his head. The battle turns bloody and using a new (very phalic) mode in Murray's vehicle transformations, they manage to escape. Superbeasto calls Suzi and asks for her help in tracking down who's responsible for kidnapping Black, and assures her that it's not about sex (when it really is). After another confrontation with the nazi zombies, Suzi manages to destroy them by planting a bomb on Hitler's head. She then goes to the stripper bar and forces information about Dr. Satan from its patrons.

I like the way you're wikilinking here, picking up the significant stuff. "phalic" is a bad spelling. It's "phallic". The wikilink works because someone has figured people often make that spelling bad and has made a redirect page, but you should make sure to spell it right in the article. "Who's" should be "whoever is". And you're overusing the () brackets. Use them no more than once or twice in the whole article, not two or three times in every sentence. And it's too long.

Dr. Satan who was once a nerd that both Suzi and Superbeasto knew (and whom the latter always bullied) invites Velvet into his lair and she agrees to marry him, which will enable him to attain the powers of hell he greatly desires. But her rash and crude behavior upsets and disgusts his minions. With Superbeasto as well as Suzi and Murray honing in on his operations, Satan forces the wedding along, and in an event that rips off Stephen King's Carrie, Dr. Satan becomes Satan and kidnaps Suzi as revenge for the way he was treated in High School. During his reign of destruction in town, Velvet, not wanting to lose out on half of Satan's estate goads Suzi into a ferocious cat fight, only to lose to the buxom blond (Providing some awkward arousal from the audience as well as her own brother). When Black waves a prenuptual agreement at Satan, he crushes her under his cloven foot, and according to a book that one of Superbeasto's friends has, that is exactly what it takes to reverse the powers given to him. Dr. Satan becomes a shrimpy version of himself again and receives an atomic wedgie from Superbeasto, before being trampled by the zombie Nazis as they run from Suzi and the rest.

You are starting to lose it a bit here. Nerd, shrimpy, rips off - slang like that is fine in a blog, but remember the textbook thing.... And the ()brackets are taking over a bit. "Honing" should be "homing". "Blond" is "blonde" when applied to a lady. This is the only place you refer to Velvet as "Black" and it's very confusing - it took me three rereads to work out who this Black guy with the prenup was. And I'm hoping you can see the perils of trying a scene by scene description in "according to a book that one of Superbeasto's friends has". This is either too much or too little, bt no way is it right.

In an epilogue, Lenny, who had expressed the most disgust at Velvet von Black throughout the course of the film is caring for her as she is recovering from being crushed. Sick of his disgust at her presence she partially unscrews his intelligence screw and like a wild beast jumps on top of her and proceeds to have gratuitous sex with her.

You've missed out the word "he" in the second sentence. See if you can spot where.

And then coming to the too long problem (erk! was that a wise thing to say given the subject matter!!) You've added five paragraphs. Three would be better. Two would be even better. How about:--

El Superbeasto (Tom Papa) encounters the beautiful Velvet von Black in the local stripper bar. Taking her rebuffs as advances, he falls head-over-heels in lust with her. Velvet is kidnapped by Dr. Satan (Paul Giamatti) and his simian sidekick Lenny who is made intelligent by a screw in his head - Dr. Satan believes a sign he sees on Velvet's buttocks will give him the infinite powers and true satanic abilities. Superbeasto witnesses the crime and vows to save (and have sex with) Velvet. He calls his super-sexy sister, Suzi-X (Sheri Moon) to help tracking down whoever is responsible for kidnapping. She and her sidekick Murray (Brian Posehn) have been busy preventing killer Nazi zombie werewolves from resurrecting Adolf Hitler by stealing his head. Defeating the Nazi zombies by planting a bomb on Hitler's head, Suzi then goes to the stripper bar and forces information about Dr. Satan from its patrons.

Meanwhile, Velvet agrees to marry Dr. Satan so he can gain the powers of hell, and she can get her hands on half of Satan's estate; but her rash and crude behavior upsets and disgusts his minions. With Superbeasto and Suzi homing in on his operations, Satan forces the wedding along. In a scene that pays homage to Stephen King's Carrie, Dr. Satan becomes Satan and kidnaps Suzi as revenge for the way he was treated by her and Superbeasto in High School. However, when Velvet waves a prenuptual agreement at Satan, he crushes her under his cloven foot, which turns out to be exactly what it takes to reverse the powers given to him. A defeated Dr. Satan receives an atomic wedgie from Superbeasto, before being trampled by the zombie Nazis as they run from Suzi and the rest.

In the closing scene, Lenny, who had expressed the most disgust at Velvet throughout the course of the film is caring for her as she is recovering from being crushed. Sick of his disgust at her presence she partially unscrews his intelligence screw. Like a wild beast, he then proceeds to have gratuitous sex with her.
