Proposed deletion of ELAN software[edit]

The article ELAN software has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks any third party sources to show notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. "I deleted the deletion flag (this article is just 8 minutes old !!!)" - that's what draftspace is for. Cabayi (talk) 16:48, 18 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your comment. In my opinion, the article had everything that it could be published and I intended to improve a few things when it was already online. And bam, 8 minutes later, there was a deletion flag. That's not really encouraging. GrryT (talk)
Removing the deletion proposal without addressing the issues mentioned (and which DID link to the relevant guidance) didn't give any impression of intent to improve.
You repeatedly mention the 8 minutes but neglect the lack of improvement in the 3 day window before the deletion discussion was begun.
Your comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ELAN software that "I immediately asked the question what the problem is" isn't reflected in the record of your contributions.
It's apparent there's plenty of non-glory to share around in this episode.
I appreciate you've added a wider range of papers to the article but, now that the deletion discussion has started, it needs to run its course. Has the software really attracted no attention outside of academic papers? Cabayi (talk) 11:24, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Cabayi for your reply and I am glad that we find a solution for the ELAN_software article. Please let me know what "it needs to run its course" actually means and whether the article is now acceptable as it is. What sources do you mean by "outside of academic papers" given that ELAN is a research software? Do you mean manuals, descriptions or the like? /// Since you write that there is "plenty of non-glory to share around this episode" I would like to tell the story from my viewpoint: After the first deletion flag, I made some changes to the article and deleted the flag (which was maybe wrong), and I raised the issue at 20:27 the same evening in this edit on MassiveYR talk site, because MassiveYR decided to re-add the deletion flag: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:MassiveYR&oldid=770501706 There, I mentioned that I don't understand the deletion flag as there were third-party sources in the article and that I (after doing some edits) removed the flag. After that, the deletion flag stayed there, but someone called Pavlor removed the deletion flag again. Then, I was happy that apparently the article is good enough. Some time later, the deletion flag appeared again (the third time) and I again responded directly. Anyhow, please tell me if I need to improve the article further. Thanks GrryT (talk) 16:58, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

March 2017[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with ELAN software. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Please wait until discussion is closed, I have reverted your edit MassiveYR 🌟 (TALK) 19:49, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on F4analyse, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, GrryT. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, KH Coder, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
