Help making my very first edits[edit]

Today I made my very first edits to the page for Marquese Scott, but they were reverted by XLinkBot. If I understand correctly, they were reverted perhaps because they link to copyrighted material? It was certainly not intended to be spam, sorry I'm new at this. Can you give advice on what to do in this situation? Perhaps I should include the new content I added (a short list of the person's most viewed videos) without including external links? I also wrote a fair amount of text and added some new sections to the page, and I'd like for these edits to be included in the page. I can put these back in, but I'm worried I'll be breaking rules again. In general, should I avoid adding links to YouTube? (Much of the information about this person comes from interviews found on YouTube, so as far as I can tell it's accurate and verifiable, but I'm just not sure how to cite these videos.) Thanks in advance for your help! --GuineaPigC77 (talk) 18:43, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Resolved via IRC. Avoid linking to the subject's own videos; instead provide reliable third-party sources that discuss him. Huon (talk) 19:14, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

January 2014[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Marquese Scott has been reverted.
Your edit here to Marquese Scott was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXO-jKksQkM&list=TL2fEBlrxoKnw1Ck6AHddTd4g9BCBUabw0, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_0dLDsc-Vw&list=TL0gLY-zYwn94sWq3n_Y-xTBeyJ_47K_xd, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZQ_RDb0lcE&list=TLAYDda7OPomNl8f3vM_5CyhXU6-VPxaz6, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhEAs2pfL5c&list=TLUnESkXrsOp-Ac6t5pqeq5aB2Gl54tQrW, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pyCI_intrQ&list=TL7105uy3dBX2TbVRnMrsEfMNWQ5W70oee) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 18:15, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Truthland, a page you created, has not been edited in 6 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:35, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello GuineaPigC77. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Truthland".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Truthland}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 22:02, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

July 2022[edit]

Hello, I'm JalenFolf. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Music of ancient Mesopotamia, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jalen Folf (talk) 21:40, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

stop mindlessly reverting inaccurate and biased articles[edit]

I corrected an extremely inaccurate and biased article, but you reversed all my edits. All of them, without checking the validity of the reasons for the changes.

It must be great to feel like an important Wikipedia editor, but Wikipedia should not be an outlet for either side of the political spectrum. It should be factual and unbiased. The article in question is the opposite. 18:16, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi there, I replied on the article's talk page. You removed most of the sources for the article, and most of the content without giving a reason, only saying that it's outdated. You can improve the article by looking up more recent sources and correcting the article based on those sources. GuineaPigC77 (talk) 18:37, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Most sources were cherry-picked and have 0 relevance today. They should not be replaced, but rather deleted. Why should an article that is factually inaccurate be kept online in that form? The inaccurate segments should be deleted, and ideally the same should be done for the entire article as a whole. Mimipedya (talk) 08:53, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Music of Mesopotamia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Oriental Institute. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:10, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
