General sanctions notification[edit]

The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or a topic ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:28, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

August 2018[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did on Hari Singh Nalwa. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. utcursch | talk 19:19, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

For the repeated addition of unsourced castes in biographies after being warned, I have decided, in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the terms of this community discussion, to impose the following sanction on you:

1 week block

This sanction has been logged at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction to the community at the administrators' noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me on my talk page, before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 19:32, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Sikh Rajputs. Jim1138 (talk) 10:56, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for repeatedly removing sourced content without explanation, as you did at Sikh Rajputs. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bishonen | talk 11:24, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

August 2018[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Ranjit Singh has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 17:02, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If the bot was able to figure this out, I gather that similar edits were made in the past and they were reverted. Note that the source you have added (twice) does not actually say what you claimed. You cannot do such edits. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 17:34, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Ranjit Singh shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Vallabhbhai Patel. utcursch | talk 18:43, 25 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't add poor sources as you did here. You specified pages "90-149-241" as your source, but it doesn't appear that you actually read those pages: you simply searched the book for "Sandhu" and specified the pages that appear in Google Book snippets, without bothering if those pages actually support the content. Also, other user-contributed wikis are not reliable sources. utcursch | talk 14:17, 4 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  —SpacemanSpiff 13:20, 6 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
