Ambarish / Ambareesh[edit]

Gurubrahma, in the below sentence by you, I believe you wanted to write one of the two names as "Ambareesh". :)

"On the test of Google hits, Ambarish (108,000 hits) seems to outscore Ambarish (13,000) by a factor of 10."

If so please visit the overview page and choose a warning type you wish to work on. There is a base template available here, which you can copy and use to get you started. Kind attention requested[edit]

Dear Gurubrahma, Greetings to you ! I've been having problems lately by an unknown writer who has suddenly sprung up and terms himself as The Hermes [2]. She / he seems to have come up on Wikipedia just to bait my articles related to Seminaries in India.

She/he terms The Senate of Serampore College (University) as fake or bogus University in India and simply inserts matter relating to accreditation - that it is a fake one. I've tried to furnish enough proof in support of my claim [[3]]. However, in spite of enough proof, I'm beginning to exhaust myself.

Personally, I've met the past Registrar of The Senate of Serampore College (University) presently leading a retired life in Secunderabad and apprised him of this to which he replied that the Senate is indeed a University whose degrees are acceptable by any University in the world, be it the University of Hamburg, the Cambridge University or our very own Osmania University.

I keep reverting his edits (bogus status) and he keeps reverting it back. Kindly see that this ends.Pradeep 18:48, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:AImaharaja.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AImaharaja.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Thanks for your note![edit]

Thank you for your note! Most kind! I have indeed essentially retired as an editor. I stopped editing in the mainspace on 5 March 2007 and in the image space the same day. I'm editing almost entirely in the project space now. For more understanding of my reasons behind this, you may wish to read this. It's long, but if I might be so bold, worth the read. More important is the link at the very end of that essay by me which points to a much longer essay that is very, very important to read and understand with respect to Wikipedia. There are functions at Wikipedia that are collapsing due to the phenomena described in my essay and in the other essay at shirky.com. I do not expect to return to any role as an editor of articles. It was a pleasure nominating you for adminship, and I am still grateful that you were the one who was willing to be the guinea pig to test the waters of a Durin nomination following the RfC against me in the Fall of '05. I understand the need to press on to other things in your life, and wish you the best in those endeavours. All of us will eventually leave the project, it's just a matter of when. Others will come to fill our shoes. None of us is so important to the project that it will suffer in our absence. It suffers not by individuals, but by sociological effects of human behavior that are an inevitable consequence of scale. Case in point, read Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Clerks/Guide#Non-clerks which boils down to "this is our sandbox. Don't let other people edit here. If they do, tell them to go elsewhere". Disgustingly repulsive, but there are people fighting tooth and nail to retain that structure. For proof of that, see this, written by a person who previously held the title of "head clerk" (see top of list at this version of the clerk list). He since backpedaled from that position, but you get the mentality. Fair winds and following seas to you Gurubrahma, and make sure your cows don't eat your chickens. :) --Durin 14:01, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:UW future?[edit]

Hi Gurubrahma,

Sorry for the blatant spam, but you have yourself down as interested at WikiProject user warnings WP:UW. There is a discussion on going here that might be of interest to you about the future of this project. There are two strawpolls on the talk pages and the second one is about the future of the WP:UW project. Now we have the end in sight we are looking at wrapping up the project and merging it with Template messages/User talk namespace WP:UTM and creating a one stop shop for all userspace template issue. As you have yourself down as interested in this project we thought you may have some input on this issue, and would like you to visit the discussion and give any thoughts you may have on the matter. Vandalism[edit]

Vandals are destroying articles related to Andhra Pradesh, Telugu language, Telugu script and many articles related to Telugu history. These people, about eight, have ganged up and are helping each other to prevent unbiased contributions. The history of South India and even that of the whole of India is being painted as that belonged to a linguistic group. History is being re-written on the basis of a couple of books written by parchial and localized historians and a couple of websites devoted to regional agenda and chauvantic tendencies. A perusal of their contributions and citations will make my point obvious. I appeal to you to regularly visit Telugu and Andhra-related articles and prevent vandalism by these mischief makers.Kumarrao 10:27, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We are the management students of National Institute Of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, India. We have a college gaming site called Mastishk, which is a yearly event. The URL in wikipedia is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastishk This was the first Online Business Challenge organised by a business School. This was started way back in 2004 and continued year on year. We wanted to use this as an information site, and wanted to associate with our college wiki information NITIE.

Speedy deletion of Image:Veerappan.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Veerappan.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD I3.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. KNM Talk 01:05, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool response[edit]

Dear Mr Gurubrahma,

You have been cool to my previous requests to protect Telugu related articles being wrought havoc by a certain group of fanatics. I am sure you must have noticed the way they collaborate with each other to create false history. I have been waging a lone battle. The group now started distorting articles related to Andhra history, places in AP etc., Thanks to your attitude. Kumarrao 13:57, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rescuing K. David[edit]

Hi Guru Brahma !

It has been a long time since I messaged you. May I refresh your memory on a few of my articles where you intervened earlier.

Victor Premasagar, created by me was proposed for deletion by you and was later rescued by someone. Taking the cue, I worked on it and brought it to a readable stage. Presently, this article has been again proposed for deletion. Please add your comments to the Talk Page. I propose that you give your opinion favourably.

K. David was a colleague of Victor Premasagar and studied in the University of Edinburgh (this is not the only plus point). Never before was there any discussion on K. David. Suddenly, a few wikipedians thought it fit to delete it. By all means, I request you to keep it. I know you can do it and you're the one whom I can turn to in times of distress. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grbpradeep (talkcontribs) 07:54, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw mag.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw mag.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:21, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tollywood[edit]

Hi, I've read your comment concerning splitting the Tollywood article into two - one for Bengali and one for Telugu. You said you will issue a redirect to direct to Bengali Cinema. I think you should redirect the Tollywood page to a main redirect page saying "Tollywood can refer to: 1)Telugu film industry 2)Bengali film industry" and issue links for each. Therefore each industry will be properly classified and titled, and the Tollywood ambiguation will cease to exist. Please see to these changes and if you have any objections or comments get back to me. Thanks, Nsrav —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nsrav (talkcontribs) 03:49, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hyderabadblues.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hyderabadblues.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 01:36, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
