Hi, I note you blocked this user. I found he had more or less deleted the Taliban article recently, perhaps further action needs to be taken in relation to this individual, but I am not a particularly active wikipedia editor, so I don't know what to do (although I reverted the article).--Hontogaichiban (talk) 23:14, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Copyright and "Personnal Analysis"

Hi, you just removed one of my contribution to Nur Ali Elahi because I didn't respect the Copyright policy and added what you called a personnal Analysis. About the Copyright Policy, the video I added to Youtube, was added by Nour Foundation, owners of the Copyright (Copyright © 2009 Nour Foundation. All Rights Reserved.). They added the video to Youtube so that people could see it, therefore I don't think it is a problem for me to add it to the artist's article on Wikipedia. Maybe I should add the Copyright information as a reference ? About my "Personnal Analysis", it is not a personnal analysis, but a quote, from Ostad Elahi's official webpage, which is basically the official source of information on Ostad Elahi. The quote was referenced, therefore I also think it is relevant to leave it on the article because it can then justify the use of Chahrokh Elahi's tanbur video in order to show what would O. Elahi's tanbur look like.

Therefore, I think both were adequate (Video and quote), I hope that you will then agree to add them back on the article. Thank you, Sinae —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sinae (talkcontribs) 19:32, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Dear Gyrofrog

I see that you have reverted back many of the edits I made in the Oromo page. The thing that put a lot of questions in my mind is the fact that I edited only those parts of the article that have no citation and are only there to fan ethnic hatred, yet it seems like I have to justify myself to you why I did that.

Can you justify to me why you reverted back articles that are hateful and inciting but have no factual basis or at the least citation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.241.122.231 (talk) 11:40, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

POV-pushing

Hi Gyrofrog. There's a user on the Puntland and the Abdirahman Mohamud Farole that's pushing some pretty obvious POV. I've already explained to him on his talk page in detail what are the problems with his edits, but he keeps reverting anyway. I'm already at three reverts, so I would appreciate it if you could step in. Also, I think there is almost certainly some socking going on, as this user basically showed up only a few minutes after another brand new user (this user's account is also new) first inserted this same dubious material on both the Farole & Puntland articles (1, 2). Haplogroup H

I do not see the need to add an addition reference. The article already cited says that 46% of Somalis are a match to the Cambridge Reference Sequence (CRS). The CRS is in the Haplogroup H. That means that they are probably Haplogroup H2 or very close to it.-- Brout8 15:13, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

(Also posted to User talk:190.232.236.215) That's fine, but where did you find this quote? We need that source, if you want to put the quote in the article. (Of course, that accounts for 1 of the 3 edits you made.) Thanks, -- Gyrofrog 20:00, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Gyrofrog, what has happened to the pages about the Leelkase(Tanade Darood) and it's subclans i.e. Fiqi Ismail, etc, etc

These pages are about the Darood Subclan of Tanade(Leelkase), and it's subclans, how come it's only the Leelkase section that has been redirected to the Darood Page, instead of the other Darood tribes i.e. Majerteen, Marehan, Ogaden, Warsangeli, Dhulbahante, etc, etc.

This is not fair, and looks like there is a somali person who is an opponent of our tribe that is sabottaging our tribes page.

I've been part of Wiki for a long time under the name of "Taajir" and have been part of these articles, and have been watching for the past several years, and to see it take off is something i can't understand, as there are many subclans of the Hawiye, Isaaq and Darood tribes that have their pages intact without being redirected to theie main tribe page.

Please either do it to all the Somali subclans, instead of just one of them.

Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by Taajir (talkcontribs) 11:19, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Please see Talk:Darod#Redirects to Darod. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog 14:18, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Incorrect name change of the Leelkase[Tanade Darood] tribe

Leelkase is the ligitimate and most used and official name, not lelkase at all.

if you go to google website, and search for 'Lelkase' this is what the results ar: Did you mean: leelkase shown Results 1 - 10 of about 776 for lelkase 776 ONLY on the misused spelling of 'lelkase'

while the actual and correct usage and spelling of LEELKASE shows you this result on google:

Results 1 - 10 of about 7,450 for leelkase. that is 7,450 results for name of Leelkase, compared to only 776 for the lelkase google search

please let us work together to solve this misunderstanding and total collapse of some of the most valuable information about the Tanade[Leelkase] on wiki. The original Leelkase wiki page contained all the Leelkase subclans, and had very useful information about the Leelkase subclans and their settlements.

For Example the Leelkase article contained information similar to what the Majerteen article, or Marehan articles contain, their subclans and places of settlements. Their article is not cited at all, and yet you have not done any changes to theirs.

Please let us be fair "Gyrofrog", i mean it's not like you are a fellow somali who harbours some resentment towards some somali tribes.

Thank You Taajir —Preceding unsigned comment added by Taajir (talkcontribs) 23:48, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, Thank you for telling me you thought what I wrote was a personal attack too another wikipedia user. It was not. I was attacked first and belittled by the person I attacked. If it happpend in real life I would have done the same, as I did here. It was not an attack, it was defending myself from some loser who did not only contribute ANYTHING too what I asked but just felt the need too leave personal insults too me :) Have a nice day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chriskardashian (talkcontribs) 00:19, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Clan tree

I just went through all the clans listed at Category:Somali clans and where possible updated or created and expanded the clan tree structure. I used World Bank, Conflict in Somalia: Drivers and Dynamics, January 2005, Appendix 2, Lineage Charts, p.55 Figure A-1, p56 Figure A-2 and p57 Figure A-3 and Country Information and Policy Unit, Home Office, Great Britain, Somalia Assessment 2001, Annex B: Somali Clan Structure, p. 43. The trees are the same for each of the major clan and the sub-clans and it may be too much. Take a look at Osman Mahmoud or Ogaden (clan) for an example.

I couldn't find sources for the following so I didn't create trees. The major clan name was obtained from the sub-clan article:

I couldn't find a listing for these and suspect they are all minority clans:

In the Sheekhaal article it says that the Reerow-Xassan might be a part of the Hawiye. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 07:19, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello Gyrofrog thanks for your message, but the edit i Have made are legitimate as the genology inserted by the other use has nothing to do with sheekhaal, remeber the articule is about sheekhaal only not about Hawiye.maxman (talk) 02:13, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Sheekhaal article

Hello Gyrofrog, please do not revert this article back becaous as I have said before, the clans system edited by the other user, is "hawiye's one, and is totaly do not relate to that of Sheekhaal, these are two different thinks one is for sheekhaal the other is for hawiye, please remeber the article objective is about the people of sheekhaal and where they live its about the Hawiye clans system the reason i am doing it i konw it i belong to them and i am the perosn who started this article first place by name of "nassir49" maxman (talk) 02:13, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Left response at User talk:Maxman. -- Gyrofrog 03:59, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello Gyrofrog thanks for your reply, I fully understand your point, but the objective I had when i first started this article was not to relate the tribal system of hawiye it is to specificaly present more about the sheekhaal clan, I am not arguing that sheekhaal is hawiye or not here (although its widely accepted its not) I am just presenting sheekhaal only and as you said i am might as well delete this entire section, but if I delete the section then some one else will insert the same text there and i will be committing offence if I delete other people's edits. so what will be the solution Gyrofrog keeping in mind there is others out there who allways want to vandalise this artcle?maxman (talk) 15:32, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Subject your note on the editing of page on the Oromo People

Hello Gyrofrog,

Got your note. So is the biased and totally non factual information "true" because it was first on Wiki. For example while its your contention that the lands that the Oromo occupied were "Oromo land" History, and I mean both oral and written sources, record they moved into the area after the 16th century. So why isn't this recoded, or does it allow you as a Wikipedia administrator to skip certain salient facts and record only what you wish to record. How can you state that Menelik "invaded" Oromo land, when the Oromo themselves relate that they invaded that same territory 300 years before and enslaved and ruled the local Ethiopian population. I would recommend if you are interested in impartiality at all you get your facts straight before you or Wikipedia record something as fact. This entire community is rapidly descending into an issues based political soup instead of a community for the exchange of ideas, the requirement being that they are TRUE.

There seems to be a conflict of interest between your duties to record facts and your partisanship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zabya (talkcontribs) 05:38, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

My initial message was in reaction to a note from you reflecting your views of my edit and posted a response accordingly. You may have removed the edit and therefore made the whole discussion moot. I know you know what I am talking about when I refer to partisanship. My point is that the information on the Oromo people page is quite partisan and should allow challenge. That is what Wikipedia is supposed to allow. The challenge is quite supportable using Mohammed Hassan's "The Oromos" and Aleqa Atsme's History book. The "Oromo history" quoted on the page is one view and if its the only view you or wikip insists be reflected, myopic to say the least.

Thanks. Zabya (talk)
