Gigi Shibabaw

Hi Gyrofrog!

I don't know how provide a reliable source, but my changes are just forgotten facts. Gigi sings in Endurance film, soundtrack by John Powell, docudrama about the famous distance runner Haile Gebrselassie https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/endurance-original-motion/id258631023 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh9Umd8ETWk

I know her,'cause in Spain, years ago, this song was the entrance of a worldmusic radio program.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Jelly Roll Morton may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

:Borama city

Thank you Mr.Gyrofrog, i don't really know raliable sources that i give to confirm my information i added into Borama page, but the population of city is much more than 39,000 residents. may be minimum 150,000 residents. check Burao page it has 120,000 residents and its smaller than Borama. if you can confirm with your independent sources it would be good. i would like to know where you got from 39,000 residents, if am not wrong. thank you sir — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nasri212 (talkcontribs) 18:09, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

A Great Day in Harlem (film)

Hi. All films should be in the three main categories (year, country and language) per WP:FILMCAT. American documentary films is a sub-cat of American films by genre, not American films. This has been raised many times at WT:FILM (check through the archvies for more). Also see the instructions on the Category:American films category too. Hope this helps. I'm hoping this is still on your watchlist. I'm not sure my cleanup is adequate and I expect to be reverted again. Thanks. Dougweller (talk) 10:24, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Chnage of a spelling of an entry

Dear, I have edited the entry "Amba Alaji"; well, I changed the name/entry to "Emba Alaje" so to speak. I did that becuase that is how the name should appear in modern history. Partly becuase I was born there and the academic tradition I went through also confirms that.

Sincerely,

Gidena Mesfin Kebede (talk) 22:02, 3 March 2015 (UTC) 3.3. 2015

Conflict interests

The entry has been reduced to a minimum now, though sadly this reduced largely the info that readers will not have anymore, about Schipper's musical associations and interests. The reference from the newspaper remains, obviously. Regards.Celebritiess (talk) 02:09, 7 March 2015 (UTC)

Muktar allebbey

Hi Gyrofrog. It appears that Muktar allebbey has created another sock account. Please see here where the Hadraa account links to an email that he indicates was addressed to him. The coding in the email lists "muktar allebbey" as the receiver, and also includes his email address [1]. Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 18:54, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

Permitted

Hi Gyrofrog. Do you know if editors are allowed to edit another editor's archived userspace? Template:Talkarchive is quite explicit that they aren't, but just how common is this? Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 17:18, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, that's what I thought. Cheers, Middayexpress (talk) 19:13, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Otherwise, please complete this form as soon as possible so we can process your request. Nikkimaria (talk) 21:48, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Jazz article assessments

G'day Gyrofrog, I have just been reviewing the WikiProject Jazz articles assessed as High importance and Stub class. I notice you assessed both Lush Life (song) and Original Memphis Five as High importance articles I believe that this is overstating the significance of these two articles to the average Wikipedia reader (the benchmark for such assessments), I think that they qualify as Mid-importance but don't rise to the threshold of being High importance. High importance is for articles where the subject 'creates a depth of knowledge', 'must have had a large impact in their main discipline, across a couple of generations. Had some impact outside their country of origin.', or 'is extremely notable, but has not achieved international notability, or is only notable within a particular continent.' while mid importance is for articles that 'fill in more minor details', 'are important in their discipline', or 'Subject is only notable within its particular field or subject and has achieved notability in a particular place or area.' As an avid listener and observer of jazz music for nearly thirty years, I acknowledge Lush Life is a well known standard but as a general guide I don't believe that individual songs warrant High importance unless they have a significant impact and notability that extends beyond the realms of music. Most songs only warrant low importance however I am comfortable that Lush Life is significant enough that it rises above this level. In the case of the Original Memphis Five, until reading the article, I had never heard of this group (or their alternative names), notwithstanding that I am familiar with many groups/musicians from this era (most of whom I would also regard as only being mid or low importance - leading figures excepted). I am inclined to think that they are low importance however I note that the article quotes the Penguin Guide to Jazz claim that they are 'one of the key small groups of the 1920s'. This period is not my period of expertise so I am happy to allow that they may have been more significant than I have given them credit for here and should be regarded as mid importance but I seriously doubt that they are sufficiently significant to warrant high importance (which I see as being for the likes of Jelly Roll Morton, et al). What are your thoughts? AusTerrapin (talk) 15:16, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Gyrofrog, I'm A326 You have removed Ali Saleebaan on Majeerteen page Ali Saleebaan is sub clan of Majeerteen and it need to be there thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by A326 (talkcontribs) 19:57, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

please stop using Amhara people to represent Oromo ethnic group. Oromo should present unmixed Oromo individuals to represent as Oromo, and not people who are mixed. Also know the history, because most Amhara out of respect will said they are Oromo, but obviously, they are not Oromo ethnically. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tthelpfuluser (talkcontribs) 22:04, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
