"UoN"[edit]

My mistake, sorry! I'd confused UoN with UoN services, which is the corporate arm of the student union. Cheers --Sumthingweird (talk) 11:21, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ISO 639 codes[edit]

Hi, you have been changing some of these. This is perfectly fine in principle, provided that all the necessary categories are in place and the names follow ISO-639. Wikipedia:Consensus would probably be needed at WP:Categories for discussion if you wish to change categories, and I would suggest at template talk:Lang.

So:

  1. The code in the documentation MUST reflect the name of the template, that is how the documentation works - you were right to change zh to zh-tw. Thank you for that.
  2. The language name should reflect consensus, ISO 639 or common sense (E.G. there is no ISO 639 code for French => French, but we can choose to support it. I would advise against changing these names as they were not made up by me, but copied from some source such as ISO 639 or a WP documentation page.
  3. Changing references to the name of the template to {PAGENAME} is dangerous in the template itself, harmless, but worthless in the documentation chunk, however if that is ever moved to a doc page it will break.

Looking at your other edits it seems you have changed several items in the way they name languages. It is worth making sure this follows standard WP practice for language names.

Also looking at Brown Eyes you have added a ref, but no {{reflist}}. This breaks the article, luckily a bot will pick this up.

Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 15:16, 26 April 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Well I didn't see a question! I will say that {{Languageicon}} seems fairly useless to me. We should just say "(Spanish)" or "(Spanish language)" rather than having a template to change the font slightly. Rich Farmbrough, 04:12, 5 May 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Flag of Cambodia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page State of Cambodia (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Johns Hopkins in Singapore, Division of Biomedical Sciences has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not notable and entity in question terminated according to [1] and [2]

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ESEAP Conference 2018[edit]

Hello,

I’m Punchalee, a member of the Communication Committee of the ESEAP Conference. ESEAP Conference 2018 is a regional conference for Wikimedia communities throughout the ESEAP region: ESEAP stands for East, Southeast Asia, and Pacific. Taking place in Bali, Indonesia on 5–6 May 2018, this is the first regional conference for these Wikimedia communities.

East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific are the most under-represented regions within the Wikimedia community. There is a significant number of Wikimedia contributors in our regions, yet we continue to struggle in establishing a well-managed community. This conference will bring participants from various ESEAP communities together in order to better understand the issues and to look for solutions. It also aims to connect people of the Wikimedia movement within ESEAP regions, to share ideas, and to build regional collaborations that are impossible to achieve through online communication.

We’ve got a lot of participation from several countries, but we’re lacking from your country. As we need more participants from your country, we believe that your contribution and participation would be a valuable asset to the success of this event. If you would like to participate in the conference, please do fill the form as soon as possible (by April 5, 2018) and we’ll inform you if you get selected for the conference.

Thank you and we hope to see you soon. --Pilarbini (talk) 10:55, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
