Nice start on your article draft, but you still have a way to go. I would strong recommend taking a careful look at the Editing Wikipedia brochure, especially pages 7-9, which discuss layout. You should have received a hard copy from your instructor, but just in case, I have linked to it above. You should also take a look at the Editing Biographies handout (linked above) which should give you some sense of the usual sections in a biography article. You need to separate the "early life" from the lead section. This is "early life"
He lived in a middle-class, registered Republican family and was the youngest of four brothers. He paid his way through Penn State University and at the age of twenty-two graduated with his baccalaureate degree in English. Six months later, he began his professional career at NBC.
This, on the other hand, is a summary of the main points of the article, so it belongs in the lead
He would remain working for NBC for twenty-seven years, holding several positions such as: script reader, script division from 1934-1935; assistant manager and then manager in the script division and literary rights division from 1935-1942; manager of radio/television Continuity Acceptance Department, 1942-1955; and Director of Continuity Acceptance Department from 1955-1960.
You need to start the article with something like
Stockton Helffrich (October 23, 1911 – February 2, 1997) was an American [what was he?]. He would remain working for NBC for twenty-seven years, holding several positions such as: script reader, script division from 1934-1935; assistant manager and then manager in the script division and literary rights division from 1935-1942; manager of radio/television Continuity Acceptance Department, 1942-1955; and Director of Continuity Acceptance Department from 1955-1960. [And then something about him as a progressive activist]

- Your article is an "orphan", meaning that no or few articles have wikilinks to your article. Consider adding wikilinks to your article in other articles, where appropriate. This can be difficult with articles on more obscure topics. The Find Link tool can often be of assistance in this.
- Another editor has indicated that "This article needs additional citations for verification". Your article is mostly reliant on a single source. While that is an outstanding source that you've used, it is generally a good idea to find a diversity of sources for an article.
