Bhurshut

Why did editor Moonriddengirl ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Moonriddengirl#Bhurshut ) delete the rewritten post which had no copyright problem? Elsewhere you say there is no issues if the article was rewritten and so was it done to avoid any possible copyright violation. Till it was deleted by Moonriddengirl and so you are requested to restore the latest rewritten version ignoring any personal issues which Moonriddengirl seems to have regarding this article! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.254.79.182 (talk) 07:47, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Please check the old post to see that 90% of the article rewritten by MangalKavya was deleted. The trace left is of little use to anyone compared to the whole article and more importantly when whole of the rest 90% deleted by her was rewritten so why delete and on what ground? 117.254.79.182 (talk) 07:56, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Probably because the paraphrasing was judged to be too close to the original. Wikipedia has to be very careful about copyright because it is is licensed under a very unrestrictive licence, meaning that most of it can be copied just about anywhere with just a link and because website owners and businesses tend be quite unhappy when their material is reproduced in violation of their copyright. ITN and DYK icons

Hey there HJ Mitchell. Your ITN and DYK icons are starting to intermingle with the "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" text, and they would probably go off the screen as your great ITN and DYK work continues. No, now it's very broken. Firefox on a 12" laptop, and tested IE6 as well. All the ITN etc are much below where topicons usually are (which I assume was the intended effect), and the flag is nowhere near the logo. sonia♫♪ 21:49, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Whiskey Drinker, I have no clue what I'm doing and I did that comment(match IP to find it) for fun and for the admins to laugh, I was partying too, sorry. The flag is causing the problem, when I moved it up the whitespace moved up with it, goto the User page and you'll see what I mean... Perhaps the flag should just be part of the page instead of being up at the top-left corner of the page... Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 01:40, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
After some serious tinkering I've come to the conclusion that the ambox and flag's div tags are causing the problem, I fixed the alignment for them both but the whitespace still follows now the recognised content is all over the place :S Fridae'§Doom | Talk to me 01:42, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Are we now using "position=absolute;" on the image? I thought we were using "position=relative;". Would it be bad if I changed that? Is that the price we must pay to get rid of that (horrid) white space? I also changed around the User:HJ Mitchell/Recognised by adding a <br/> in the middle of the links. I think it looks better. Instead of the ugly way it was before while we had it as absolute I've no covered all of the Wikipedia logo with the flag. As you can see by my spamming the history I was cautious. I'm going to hazard a guess that the weather in Auckland right now is no worse than the weather in Glasgow. My rule of thumb is Glasgow's summer temperature is the same as Auckland's winter temperature. Skin problems (pun intended)

Do you guys realise that you've racked up about 80 edits to my userpage between you? Combined with the two vandals and Fridae's updating, you have to scroll right the way down the history to find my name! ;) Is there a reason the flag is above the wiki logo and I can only see half of it? For some reason the only way I can make it go behind the wiki-logo on Firefox is to use "position=relative" which than brings us back to the large whitespace problem. Does anyone have CS5 suite or anything useful like that? I can install it as I have the install disk. I've just not bothered yet as it takes 2.5 hours. Actually Sonia; you're mistaken. the code is often subtly different between browsers.

To view the source of User:HJ Mitchell you would have to go to that page and follow the following directions:
In Firefox you go to View -> Page Source, In Internet Explorer I think it's View -> Source and in Safari you do View -> View Source. I need to see the differences in HTML code for those/ see if there is any difference. I've got Safari and Firefox. I need the recent versions of Internet Explorer's code. Well. It seems that I'm going to have to wait for a reply at Wikipedia:Help_desk#Skins. Apparently media wiki isn't as open to code breakers as most websites. So it looks like our choices are as follows:
  1. Teach ourselves how to create a tag that will identify the skin the visitor is using and then adjust what they see accordingly.
  2. Just live with it
  3. Take out the flag
  4. Keep beating our heads against HJ's user page until we fix it.

It gives you a button on contributions pages that rolls back every edit by that editor in a single click. Handy, but don't click it by accident! It's a bit like The Big Red Button That Must Never Be PressedTM ;)! I used it yesterday on a spambot and I've used it on vandals a few times. Also, I found out how to do the Vector= one file Monobook= other file. It's going to be a complete pain in the ass but I'm sure I can do it.... I can't actually get it done for a while since I'm going to Northern California on Friday and won't be back until the end of Sunday. I'll probably finish the template for you by next Tuesday or so. That code runs great when I run it on my shell. It's pure bash (kinda). Though when I run it I had to specify what URL to read the code from. If you were willing to let my shell run that script (with a few modifications) at all times and have it help you we would no longer have a problem. It's risky, but I think it could work. Re: Christian Dating

I think you deleted the Christian Dating article based on unacceptable previous versions of the article, as opposed to the revised versions. Please take a look. e.g. in my revised versions I realized that citing websites to state the fact that Christians still date online outside a marriage context, was mistaken for trying to advertise those websites. So I quickly removed the actual links. The admins seemed to approve because they left me alone and started helping me improve the article.

That was before discovering today that you made the delete.

Please take another look and can you get back to me? Note. Christopher Columbus Page

Greetings Mitchell, sorry about all the trouble on the C.C. page. Some time ago I did a brief write-up about the types of ships used in Columbus' day. For an illustration I uploaded the engraved image of the Columbus fleet, very fine engraved historical depictions on US postage stamps, and then being new to the ropes of editing and such, wrongly applied the 'PD-USGov' tag to the upload summary, unaware of post 1978 Fair-Use requirements at that time. My apologies for this oversight. I have since replaced the 1992 issues with those of 1893 (identical except for date) and whch are in the public domain. I am hoping my edits are welcomed.
