A tag has been placed on Category:Railway stations in Portugal opened in 1999 indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 04:09, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as you've been editing (and creating, thanks!) articles about Lisbon area train stops, there's one detail I'm bringing up here: I thought the "lines" field in the station infobox was for lines, as in parts of the infrastructure, not names for services or groups of services.

This (if correct) would mean Roma-Areeiro and Entrecampos should only list the Cintura line in that field; Sete Rios would have the Cintura line and the Sete Rios direct curve(*).

I've previously adjusted the Santa Apolónia article to account for this, but I'm bringing it up in case I'm wrong about this.

(*) Another detail I'm not sure about is how to translate "concordância", I think I've seen a small number of occurrences of "direct curve" used to describe sections of track in that situation, and that, at first sight, seems adequate. I've been using it as I've not found anything better so far. I've seen it translated as "wye" in some cases, but, given the definitions I've found (such as the one in "Wye (rail)"), I think that should be the "triangle" and not the segment of track that creates the "triangle" by connecting two lines. njsg (talk) 18:29, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're probably right - I can go back in and change those articles. I'm used to the standard on Japanese station articles where the standard you described generally applies, but not always. For example, Shinjuku Station in the JR East section lists the Saikyo Line and Shonan-Shinjuku Line separately instead of combining them under the tracks they run on (the Yamanote Freight Line). In most situations though, the line runs on tracks of its own name (i.e. Akitsu Station), so there isn't any confusion.
As for the "concordância" situation, I'm not certain how to deal with that myself. I figure "direct curve" would work for that, but I'm not 100% sure. HaapsaluYT (talk) 18:36, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Railway station articles' sources[edit]

Hi HaapsaluYT, I've observed your enthusiasm for crafting Wikipedia articles centered around train stations, an interest I share. Upon reviewing a few of the sources you've included in these articles, I've noticed that some do not seem to adequately cover the information they claim to. For exemplary cited articles about rail stations in Portugal, consider exploring São Bento railway station. You may also find valuable insights in articles I've personally crafted, such as Pocinho railway station or Barca d'Alva railway station. Wishing you all the best in your future contributions, as I hope you and I can access this situation. V.B.Speranza (talk) 19:17, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
