License tagging for Image:Cedar hill trolley1915.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cedar hill trolley1915.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:06, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I consider it vandalism for you to delete content on my user page. If you are going to post comments, please do not come back and remove them. Regarding the streets in the Cedar Hill section, I do not recall why I did not post them. The city of New Haven has maps of what are officially considered neighborhoods here. Lastly, please sign your post when commenting on talk pages. -- StAkAr Karnak 19:31, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I came upon the Cedar Hill article recently, and I think it should be merged into the East Rock category. Please discuss my proposal at Talk:East Rock (neighborhood). --orlady 05:10, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with File:Cedar hill map.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cedar hill map.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of NHCAN (New Haven Citizens Action Network), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.nhcan.org/about. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:05, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on NHCAN (New Haven Citizens Action Network) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Happypixie (talk) 21:47, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:NHCAN LOGO.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:NHCAN LOGO.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 14:35, 10 May 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:35, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Advice[edit]

Hi. I saw your note on the reliable sources noticeboard, and have some thoughts for you to consider. Your future contributions may fare better than NHCAN (New Haven Citizens Action Network) did if you become acquainted with Wikipedia:How to edit a page. WP:citing sources, and related sources of advice on editing Wikipedia.

Also, if you are submitting a new stand-alone article about an organization, give serious consideration to whether it meets WP:N and WP:ORG. If it doesn't, the content might be more appropriate in the context of a larger article about a broader topic.

I see that you are composing an article off-wiki. Before moving it to Wikipedia article space, do consider creating it in a subpage of your user space and asking for advice and assistance with it.

PS - Did the deleting admin give you a copy of your deleted article to work with off-wiki? --Orlady (talk) 14:42, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you no I did not get a copy which was what was so agrivating I did all that work and it was gone... But I got an editor that set up a user draft page and will monitor the work. Thanks so much for the help... there are alot of rules etc. I am trying to follow them... there are also 2 others that will be helping me.... so I need a little time because we are trying to get all the facts right and keep the neutral. As far as it being local I am doing the local investiagating and someone else is doing the national part so that is why the draft page is fantasic...working off line gets to be a bit hard trying so see how link ect are working keep an eye on it would love suggestions --Happypixie (talk) 15:56, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To help you in your work on the NHCAN page, I've put a copy of your deleted text in the "talk" page for the page you are working on. --Orlady (talk) 21:47, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, again. I userfied your article on "Poison Ivy" because I think it would be deleted pretty quickly in its present form. None of the sources documents the existence of this term. You do have a couple of third-party sources describing the phenomenon, though. I have a feeling that the best place for this content would be in a subsection of Gentrification. --Orlady (talk) 21:41, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OHHHHH I just changed it back :O sorry I did not realize. I wanted to add it to the Gentrification section but was not sure if I could if that is the case I will do that! --Happypixie (talk) 21:45, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wherever you put it, be sure that your content is supported by the third-party published reliable sources. Don't use terms like "Poison Ivy" -- I see no indication that this is a term that has been commonly used outside of Wikipedia. --Orlady (talk) 21:50, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again so I have been working on the page. and it was put up for deletion see discussion on the page. This is my response to it. his article should not be deleted. I think it can either be added to the Causes area of gentrification. Or could minus the Catch Phrase Poison Ivy and have it titled Ivy League Gentrification. I believe that the proof of it not being a Pulitzer Finalist Graham Rayman of The Village Voice description in 2007 of Ivy League gentrification is not really neologism as shown in the attached ref. Property I think that the notability was established with he ref but can be expanded with time. As far a being personal view...gentrification in general is a personal view depending on if you are a resident of the city or a developer that is removing said residents...that is why gentrification is hard to stop. As far as orphaned it has be attached to several articles. And can be used in many more article with similar topics. As an example. What are you thoughts?? --Happypixie (talk) 15:59, 7 June 2010 (UTC) Sorry here is the page he set up....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Poison_Ivy_%28Ivy_League_Gentrification%29 --Happypixie (talk) 16:08, 7 June 2010 (UTC) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Poison_Ivy_%28Ivy_League_Gentrification%29[reply]

your question[edit]

You asked "Is there a way to do notes on a page for research where they only show up in edit???"

I think you want to make a "hidden comment". Bracket the text you want to hide with <!-- and -->, like this:

<!-- This sentence will be hidden. -->

A button for doing is on the edit menu in the old Wikipedia edit interface, but I can't find it in the "new features". --Orlady (talk) 18:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!!!!--Happypixie (talk) 18:39, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I replied on my talk page to your most recent question. --Orlady (talk) 16:15, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I use hidden comments WP:HIDDEN WP:COMMENT primarily as requests to other editors: <!-- this list ordered by date - Lexein -->. I've found research notes to be vulnerable to deletion by aggressive editors, and better kept (visible) on the article's Talk page, or on your own User Talk page, or WP:USERSUBPAGE#SUB. --Lexein (talk) 20:45, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Lexein that I ended up doing just that posting notes on my user page. And it allows people to comment or give feed back. And I can just delete them we I am able to use them. :) --Happypixie (talk) 22:40, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi not really sure how to prove a picture is one I took maybe this will be I am a volentar for many events around the park..Memeber of friends of East Rock Park, Cedar Hill Greenspace and was working this event and got as many pictures of the race ti the top this years event is going to be even better but here is a video I did..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVpPM7DHBFg it is dated and in my account which is the same name I have here and here are the pic's http://picasaweb.google.com/cedarhillcommunity/NewHavenCycingCel# I downloaded them for everyone to see so people requesting them from around the state. As you can see on my other pic's I put my name and my name is on his account but my real one Is this proof enough I can try to find them on my old computer and download it from there but it is buried somewhere and I would hate to dig it out. I think the above should be proof enough that it is my pic and I am releasing it for public domain use--Happypixie (talk) 18:59, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged it as public domain per your comment. If you would like a more restrictive license, feel free to change it.
With regards to your last request, I'm sorry I didn't reply to you, but I'm afraid I didn't really have any suggestions for how to improve the article and I didn't feel comfortable weighing in on the discussion since you had specifically asked me about it (and then I just forgot). Sorry about that. VernoWhitney (talk) 19:12, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. was not sure how to fix that. Going to get some better more relevant pic's for that page with in the next few weeks.... and its ok I kind of gave up on it, lost cause I am doing some more research on it, it may rear it's ugly head someday down the line again :)--Happypixie (talk) 19:41, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
