Newbie[edit]

Thanks Harkey. I'm a new user. I used to be an editor on a forerunner to Wikipedia back in 1999. I joined principally to edit this one page that was: 1. created by the person to whom the page relates, 2. biased and self-serving in the extreme. I would not be surprised if this person tried to undo the changes. If that happens, I may speak to you about what can be done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hi Hard 1 (talkcontribs) 15:06, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll put it on my watchlist.--Harkey (talk) 19:10, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Holiday[edit]

Hi, just to let you know that I am away for just over a week as I am coming up north and no internet connection there. Can you chase the paperboy if he does not get round to it in next couple of days. As you are good with sources and BOT has hit our GAs of East Riding of Yorkshire and Kingston upon Hull tagging several dead links may be you could have a look to see if there are any suitable replacements. Looks like the BOT is going alphabetically so will be a little while before it gets to Whitby! May be others will help out with the growing number of dead links if they read the newsletter feature. RAF Elvington[edit]

Hi, i noticed on Keith D's talk page that you were talking about the correct infobox for the article RAF Elvington.

My question is that are you currently working on the article? because other wise i will insert one in as i am attempting to put the correct infobox into the RAF articles and i did not want to ruin your edits.

Edit Help and Feedback[edit]

Thanks for your feed back, Harkey! and the tip about the reverter rule. I did not know about that. I am new to wikipedia and learning the ropes (slowly). I am a trying to put together wikipedia pages for all the candidates for a the Los Angeles District Attorney election with my main sources being the big newspaper in town (Los Angeles Times) and the candidate webpages. I suppose I have a couple questions about the endeavor.

First, is that even the type of thing that wikipedia is meant for? In other words, I am trying to create neutral sites about all of the candidates because a lot of people here get their information from wikipedia. I don't intend to parrot the candidate webpages but basic information about their platform, biographies and significant events in the campaign seem appropriate

Second, I understand neutrality is going to be a big issue covering politicians so I am sticking to articles in big newspapers. Are there other sources I should avoid?

Finally, is there anything I could (or should) to avoid having edits taken down or manipulated?

New Stuff[edit]

Here is my problem and hope that you might help me. I have worked here less than two years (at Embry-Riddle). The logo for the WorldWide campus of Embry-Riddle was changed to a new brand standard in 2010. I am attaching. I have no idea nor does anyone I have attempted to contact here, who the administrator or originator of that page was. I want to up date the logo (and have been asked several times now to do this). I cannot do it. I do not have the administrative permission and cannot find anywhere on any documentation how to update this logo.

Can you please please help. I can provide any proof needed that this is legitimate and if you look at other Embry-riddle pages, you will see that our brand standard has indeed changed.

Thanks so much for responding. This if the closest I have come in a year long quest to do this. Mcnerney52 (talk) 18:26, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

HighBeam[edit]

Hi, thanks for keeping an eye out on things while I was away. Just wondered if you would be interested in a HighBeam account as new applications are now open, it allows access to their subscription information free for a year. Keith D (talk) 16:48, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for responding. I'm still lost.[edit]

Harkey--thank you for responding. I am a new user, trying to write an article on an accomplished psychologist. I don't plan on being a regular user of Wiki, so it has become frustrating trying to negotiate this very complex system in limited time. I have placed the article entitled Mark Pope, Ed.D. in my sandbox, my userspace, and my article creation space. I made changes according to several comments about reference posting. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to submit this thing for review. It would be nice to have a simple, "submit for review" button--is that asking too much. So there's a sandbox, userspace, talk, and article creation, and the system does not provide feedback. I looked at a tutorial or two, but they are not about creating a new article--they are about editing some other article. So any help on how to submit an article for review would help.RockCottone (talk) 17:31, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks.[edit]

Harkey--I can use all the help I can get. Much appreciated. RockCottone (talk) 19:10, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Question again[edit]

Question again
Harkey were is HTML at???? Marirosa A Alvarez (talk) 00:19, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Pope, Ed.D.[edit]

Harkey--You are the best. The article looks great. On the title, I was thinking the use of ED.D. after his name would differentiate him, as the other Mark Pope is a basketball player. So if you think it will fly with Mark Pope, Ed.D., that would be easiest. That's how he would be known in the community. He sees himself first as a professional counselor (past president of the American Counseling Associaton), so that title would identify him best.

What do I need to do next?

I really really appreciate your help.

(talk page stalker) Hi, not really a good choice of dab as it is usually done by a noun in brackets. See here. Keith D (talk) 23:46, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Pope (Counselor)[edit]

Harkey--Yes, putting "Counselor" in parentheses will work: Mark Pope (Counselor). I look forward to seeing it in final form.
