License tagging for Image:Helias 2.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Helias 2.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:08, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello Harry Stoteles, My doctoral dissertation, as a requirement of the PhD programme in English studies at the University of Montreal, is on the English Helyas, Knight of the Swan (1512). Having noticed your interest on this topic, I would like to know whether or not you would be willing to correspond with me. I was not aware of the 1651 Dutch edition of Helyas; moreover, its woodcuts are very similar to those found in the edition I am examining. You may reach me via e-mail (through wikipedia's "E-mail this user" option), or on this page. Thank you in advance! Whirl256 01:25, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What can I do for you? Harry Stoteles 21:59, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am interested in sources and adaptations of the Swan Knight legend in languages other than French, English, Spanish, and Italian. One of my dissertation chapters involves looking at the illustrations in Helyas 1512 and how these illustrations interact with the text and its imparted message. The image you have posted on the Knight of the Swan page is very similar to the one appearing in the text I am working from. I was not familiar with the 1651 edition, and I have recently discovered a Flemish 1486 translation (Harleem), and two more editions published in Antwerp (presumably in Dutch) in 1510 and 1511. These three have woodcuts in them as well. How familiar are you with The Knight of the Swan and do you know of other editions contemporary to the English 1512? Also, have you seen the 1504 Godefroy de Bouillon printed by Michel Le Noir in Paris? Thank you. Whirl256 16:46, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Untill now I have only this link (that you know probably): http://www.dbnl.org/tekst/deba001nede01_01/deba001nede01_01_0014.htm
You can email me directly ('e-mail this user'). Harry Stoteles 13:05, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I am familiar with that page via your wikipedia contribution (: I do not understand the language on that page (Dutch? German?), and I have tried to contact you through the "Email this user" option, but the following message appears: "This user has not specified a valid e-mail address, or has chosen not to receive e-mail from other users." Are you able to e-mail me? If not, could you send me your contact information at whirl256 at gmail dot com. Thank you. Whirl256 01:27, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
