A brownie for you![edit]

Disambiguation link notification for November 12[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Maximum genetic diversity, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Phyla, Basal and Hardware (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Evolution, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 15:40, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, the Wikipedia page itself was the reliable source. Should I have formally cited that at the end of the paragraph? Harvard2TheBigHouse (talk) 15:44, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did on Evolution. This violates Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 15:48, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Where is there unsourced or poorly sourced information? Please provide something specific unless you're just making edits regarding a page you have not read yet and do not understand. Harvard2TheBigHouse (talk) 15:51, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have twice added unsourced material to the Evolution article and then added a Wikipedia source. Wikipedia cannot reference itself. Theroadislong (talk) 15:54, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So how am I supposed to source the basic facts explained by the Wikipedia page that I already linked? New information can't be added to pages? I don't understand. Harvard2TheBigHouse (talk) 15:57, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All content requires a source, that is a fundamental part of how Wikipedia works. We ONLY report on what the reliable sources say, if you can't find a source to support your content, then it cannot be added, it's simple. Theroadislong (talk) 16:01, 13 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Gene, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Adrian J. Hunter(talkcontribs) 10:02, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you're having a bit of a hard time here. That is because you are trying to force your view through (possibly a non-neutral one...) against consensus, in what is only just short of edit-warring. On that subject, I removed the words "and reception" from a section heading with the sufficient edit comment "sorry but this is not right; 1) 'and' is terrible in headings as it means 2 subjects; 2) this IS NOT a reception, that means PURELY THIRD PARTY OPINION", but you promptly put it back, only for another editor to give it the chop, big time. It would help enormously if you'd read what other editors say as well as observe what they do, and try to fit in. Neutrality, non-disruptiveness, and use of reliable secondary (independent) sources are all mandated by policy. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:04, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Covid-19[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has enacted a more stringent set of rules. Any administrator may impose sanctions - such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks - on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

This is in relation to your insertion of a fringe source across multiple articles. PainProf (talk) 01:05, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest on Wikipedia[edit]

I have noticed that you have inserted various sources by Sirotkin and am thus issuing this important message:

Information icon Hello, Harvard2TheBigHouse. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. —PaleoNeonate – 04:23, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Harvard2TheBigHouse, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in COVID-19, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
