Another Question about talk pages...

{{helpme}}

  • Just a suggestion, should talk pages have archives? (For space, cleaning up, and better for low internet connections, etc? Thanks. Hasek is the best 05:07, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

About photos

Yeah, it's me again, but I have a question about photos. Can pictures be taken from (I think) copyrighted work? Ex. Taking a picture by someone from a video/DVD instead of real life. Thanks. Hasek is the best 21:04, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Being a Sens fan too, do you think one of his nicknames is Big Hot Pastrami? That is what it says on his article. I think it's a case of vandalism, and I'm skeptical. I think maybe you know more? I know Gratts for sure, Ernie not as skeptical but what is Big Hot Pastrami?! Thanks! Evilclown93 15:15, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Never mind, that was long undiscovered vandalsim. I reverted it. Sorry for bugging you! Evilclown93 17:44, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

my password

There has been this guy on wikipedia that sometimes writes "i m stoopid!!!" under my signature, but only on the Hasek page. I like my username, so can and how do I change my password? I would like to know soon before he does any more vandalism (see this diff.) Or is it some sort of a bot? Thanks Hasek is the best 21:43, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I'm here to help you! Go to the "my preferences" button at the top of any page. On the "user profile" tab you'll see a place to change your password. --TeckWiz ParlateContribs@ 21:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Baseball

*scowl* What do you have against the New York teams? Regards, Newyorkbrad 21:52, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Okay, well first everyone has their own opinions but the reason why is cause they are REALLY good, so if Toronto faces them, they'll probably get slobbered and same goes for hockey too, because I want my favourite teams to go far in the standings and to be better than everyone else in a way, if you know what I mean. I don't really mean it just cause they're in new york, so no offense there. Hasek is the best 22:03, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
No offense taken, of course, sports rivalries being one of the areas where Wikipedians are allowed to tease each other, even internationally. What you probably don't remember is a couple of years ago when the Blue Jays were leading their division a lot of the time, while the Mets and Yankees were in last place. By the way, I got to see a Blue Jays game when I was in Toronto last year, and I liked the game and the stadium a lot, although I don't particularly think that baseball is really meant to be played on artificial turf. I hope you enjoy your editing and I'll see you around the sports pages. Regards, Newyorkbrad 22:16, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Worst user name ever?

What in the hell were you thinking? You must be part of his small band of 3 fans from Czech. everybody HATES Hasek. CJ DUB 19:09, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, he rocks. I think everyone hates him because he's old, but who should care? That'd mean I'd say Gordie Howe sucks. I'm just the minority, I guess. It's his stlye of play and accolades that impress me the most. But I guess I'd like to meet tthose 3 guys you mentioned. First of all, hasek leads the legaue in GAA and 3rd in shutouts. It's not much the statistics, but how he can still have above-par stats at 42. I also wanted to see if anyone would say anything about it. But I've seen weirder usernames. Hasek is the best 19:17, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

HAHAHAHA. He's a total clown and a crybaby. He also lead the Czech ball hockey league in wins and throat-chokings. Just watch what happens, he'll get injured or start to suck and whine at the most inopportune time. I'f you don't believe me what a loser he is, just ask ANY Buffalo fan. They hated him even when he was winning all those series for them while winning the Vezina. They hated him in Detroit as welll, even though they got a cup with him in net (DETs problem was never in net anyway). I can say without reservation as well, that along with Cindy Crosby, Hasek has one of the most punchable faces in the NHL. CJ DUB 19:54, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Have any proof about that? I have no clue why people hate others because they're old, but he won't get injured...In fact if Martin Brodeur turns 40 I'll say he sucks _____ (you can fill in the blank, you're smart, aren't you?) So anyway, how could Buffalo fans say he sucks? Buffalo was a bad team, they had no all-star skaters (Hull, Lemieux, Messier, etc) but at least hasek impressed the crowds with last second saves and he attracted them to watch awesome and unbelievable saves. It's just your opinion anyway, because you look at his negatives which are nothing compared to his achievements. he's not a crybaby; he's happy because I never seen an interview where he lloked mad or sad (but that happens in every career, anyway) --Hasek is the best 20:49, 14 March 2007 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:CJ_DUB"

They hated him cause he sulked if things weren't going well. He often "mailed it in" and he's a well known coach killer. Yeah, the Buffalo fans are stupid for not loving him. LOL@ Intervew evidence. In the locker room Hasek is a big time crybaby. CJ DUB 21:00, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Again, have proof on that? But yeah about the coach thing, sometimes it could be a personal thing for the coach or Hasek, but that's no the worst thing in the world. And he's not a crybaby. Besides, everyone cries (sad) at least once in their career. Would you cry if you lost as (insert fav team) against the last place team 4 games to none in the finals? --Hasek is the best 21:17, 14 March 2007 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:CJ_DUB"

Crybaby doesn't mean he cries you lunatic, it means he's a spoiled little bitch, and if thing don't go his way, he gives up on the team and the coach. And "no scoring forwards for Buffalo" in those days. That's priceless !!! CJ DUB 23:03, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
I talked to a good friend of mine from Buffalo today. We discussed this Hasek is awesome business re: "proof". While he doesn't speak for all fans, he has excellent first-hand knowledge of what went down with Hasek and his whiny routine on Buffalo years ago... You know; stuff you've only read about. Yup. They DO in fact hate him for all the reasons I stated. Have a look at this page, it gives some insight into what he was like in Buffalo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Nolan CJ DUB 20:16, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I can't wait until Hasek gets injured again. That will be priceless. CJ DUB 04:08, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Sports-fan teasing doesn't bother me at all, but rooting for another person to get injured isn't really the right thing to do. Newyorkbrad 16:16, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:073.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:073.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jay32183 21:17, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

How is Hasek better than Brodeur?

I saw you saying to leave a message on your talk page if I wanted to know more...which I do. lol. I'm not criticizing, I am completely open to new opinions. Ofcourse, Brodeur will always be my favorite but Hasek is very talented. Just not sure if he's better than Marty. Also, if you could please reply on my talk page, I'm gonna copy this over to that anyway, so just reply in the section of the same name. Bsroiaadn 05:44, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

You have some good points, now here's a couple in reponse to yours (numbered the same..but I may have missed some):
  1. Brodeur is also exciting to watch.
  2. Brodeur's never won an MVP trophy, so Hasek got him there.
  3. Brodeur's only 34.
  4. That's impressive, but like you said...Brodeur was close to that
  5. Brodeur has had the same amount of below 2.00 GAA's as Hasek, two of them. Brodeur, though, had them consecutively (1996-1998). Marty wasn't the first since '74, but still.
  6. Marty's not european, so I can't respond to that.
  7. Not sure of Marty's shutout streak record.
  8. I don't know Marty's record for shutouts in a single month, but in this season he had 3 shutouts in a month in October, December, January, and February.
  9. Not sure if Marty was Goalie to win any awards.
  10. Marty's led the GAA in a single seasons playoffs 3 times. Led the league in wins in a single season 7 times (8 when this season is over, although Luongo may tie..so we'll see). Led the league in shut outs in a single season 3 times. Also has the record of most shutouts in a single playoff year (7, 2002-03 season playoffs) As well as some other records that you can find at Martin Brodeur, not gonna list them all. I know Dominik has a lot, too, though.
  11. Marty is the only goalie to score a game-winning goal.

I would keep going, but I have to go now...pre-easter stuff. Haha. By the way, I'm not putting Hasek down..he's definitely very talented. Bsroiaadn 00:42, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Here are reasons why Hašek, in my opinion, is the best goalie currently, and one of the All-time greatest. He's the best goalie in the world and will be a future Hall-of Famer!
  • 1. Still has some dominating left in the tank for at least a couple more years
  • 2. If Gordie Howe can play for very long, that doesn't mean Dom can't! Oh yeah, what about Chris Chelios?
  • 3. Despite the groin injury last year, he would've been a Vezina nominee.
  • 4. Is very flexible.
  • 5. Exciting to watch because of his style!
  • 6. A good attitude - In May 2001, Hašek founded the Dominik Hasek Sport & Scholarship Fund, and has donated over $1 million dollars to help underprivileged children in Buffalo play hockey. Also has "Dominator clothing" stores. He also only played for only $750,000!
  • 7. First and only goalie to win the MVP twice and consecutively
  • 8. Still performing well at 42 (ex. 35 save shutout @ Columbus) .913 SV% isn't too shabby
  • 9. Most saves in a shutout victory - 42 (Brodeur had 39, but oh well)
  • 10. First goalie since '74 to have a GAA below 2.00
  • 11. First european goalie to have GAA below 2.00 as well
  • 12. Personal best shutout streak of 181 minutes, 17 seconds (pretty good)
  • 13. Most shutouts in a month - 6
  • 14. First goaltender to win the Lester B. Pearson Award
  • 15. Dominated the 1990's with Vezinas (6) - is 2nd in NHL history
  • 16. In a 14 year span he led NHL in SV% six times
  • 17. And finally, oldest goaltender to have a 30 win season

And if Hašek played with a better team than Buffalo, he would have much better stats. I love when he sang that song after that one practice before facing his old club Ottawa--"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, has a very shiny nose! He, ha, ha!"
