Fair use rationale for Image:Herocraft.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Herocraft.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. RFD of HeroCraft[edit]

The main problem is probably notability. See Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Articles about companies that only reference the company web-site are generally considered fair game for deletion. WhaleyTim (talk) 11:15, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The other big problem is that the article is not written in neutral language. Writing things like "Our primary aim" etc makes it read like a press release for the company, rather than an encyclopedia entry about the company. The two things are very different. Wikipedians as a rule are very suspicious of any apparant attempt by a company to use Wikipedia as marketing tool WhaleyTim (talk) 12:10, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Herocraft.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Herocraft.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Conflict of interest[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article HeroCraft, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:05, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problems[edit]

The problem is that "openly available" doesn't mean that the material has been released from copyright protections. One of the quirks of Wikipedia is that any image released to be used here must be released for general public use under the GNU Free Documentation License, giving readers the rights to copy, redistribute and modify the work! There is a copyright notice on the HeroCraft home page where these images are found, which means that no such waiver has been granted. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:26, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Herocraft.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Herocraft.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on HeroCraft requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
