Speedy deletion nomination of Compass Labs

A tag has been placed on Compass Labs, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. Additional notes on the article

Got your message, thanks. One thing of note that is important is this: get away from what Compas does as a sign of importance or notability. What we look for, generally speaking, is going to be notability, and in this case, this link will particularly apply. (In a nutshell: is their third-party coverage about the corporation that is not, say, press releases?) In addition, review our verifiability and reliable sources guidelines to get an idea of what we're looking for.

I should point out that I used the "spam" rationale based on the article's language. It does feel kind of like an advertisement, and that's really not a good thing. It's definitely not peacockish, but it does feel like a plug, and that doesn't tend to do well here. If you can revise it (unless you're directly connected to them, in which case, you might want to avoid that), you'll possibly have a win. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 23:58, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Glad to give you the pointers. =) One thing to note about deletion: it isn't permanent, necessarily, except in extreme cases. For this, I am going to point you to WP:USERFY - this is for when you want to take control of an article to work with it in your user space until you can get it to a point where it's suitable to Wikipedia, and then move it into the article space accordingly. So in short, an admin can undelete and move an article for you to work on in the background without risking getting it nuked again. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 16:34, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
