Mirah was Duby, which has been covered and is being used by real users today[edit]

There are more references to Duby, the original name of the languages...here's a few, a mix of blogs and articles:

It's being used by a few projects already, including:

I have presented it at several conferences, some of which have videos online. One such presentation from RubyConf 2009 is listed on the http://mirah.org front page.

The current disambiguation page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duby also references a non-existent page for Duby, so someone else felt it important to at least do that much.

It may be interesting to point out that "joke" programming languages that have literally zero users (like [1]) have had pages on Wikipedia for some time. Mirah is actually useful and being used :)

I'm not trying to argue that Mirah is *especially* notable, but with an active userbase, production apps, third-party bloggers, and more presentations, articles, and potentially a book in the making, it seems like it's at least notable *enough* to be included on Wikipedia. Is there more information I can provide? Headius (talk) 04:01, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will also add this content to the Mirah talk page. Headius (talk) 04:03, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Mirah (programming language), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mirah (programming language). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. RadioFan (talk) 11:05, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

July 2010[edit]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, instead of writing it yourself, as you did at Mirah (programming language). This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. RadioFan (talk) 11:06, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Mirah (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
