Your revert of my move

I see you reverted my move of Swedish emigration to the United States to Swedish immigration to the United States. Sorry if I come off sounding like your high–school English teacher, but it is indeed a question of grammar and you have moved it back to an incorrect state. The two words are not synonymous – in fact, they are antonyms. See wikt:emigrate. Both "emigrate to" and "immigrate from" are incorrect constructs in the English language and the use of the term "Swedish emigration to the United States" creates ambiguity – did the author really mean "Swedish emigration from the United States" or "Swedish immigration to the United States"? It is clearly grammatically incorrect, but which one of those two grammatical errors has the author made? The way you have restored it is like saying "Swedish people leaving to the United States" – you can tell it sounds wrong, and you can most likely divine the author's intent, but there's clearly an error in there and that creates the ambiguity. For reference please see [1], [2], and [3], or just Google it enough to confirm it to your own satisfaction and then move it back. If you have additional concerns, I am happy to discuss them with you here or on the article talk page. Sorry if I'm ranting, but the decline of the English language is one of my pet peeves and we shouldn't be contributing to it – especially not in the voice of Wikipedia. That these are different words with different meanings was exactly my point, but that is not a grammatical distinction. The article is about emigration from Sweden, which went mostly to the US. But the focus of the article is on the emigration and its social and political circumstances within Sweden, not on the immigration to and settlement in the US, even though it is obviously impossible to completely separate these aspects of the same process. I think you are approaching this from a US-centric perspective, rather than seeing that there are two sides of the coin.

(There were other targets of Swedish long-distance emigration of the same period, such as Argentina, Australia and New Zealand, but the circumstances in each case are so specific that I can understand why the author chose to limit this article on the emigration directed towards the US.)

My suggestion would be for you to discuss this with User:Bishonen, who is the main author of the article. Part of my reason for reverting your move was a point Bishonen made in a recent edit comment, when reverting a change similar to yours. --Hegvald (talk) 11:59, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

OK, I see your point about focusing on emigration, but my contention is still that one cannot emigrate to anywhere – it is a grammatical impossibility. I will take it up with Bishonen, but if I'm understanding you correctly, then moving the article to something like Emigration from Sweden to the United States would handle both of our concerns. As far as I am concerned, Emigration from Sweden to the United States looks fine, but go through WP:RM in any case. University art museums and galleries

Hi Hegvald, I can see why you were tempted to move the University art museums and galleries to University art museums and galleries in the United States, but would it be better to leave the title as it is and add a {{Globalize}} clean up template? From what I understand of the conversation of other editors at AfC, they thought an article on University art museums was a valid split from the Art museum article. House of names

Hi User:Hegvald, just to say if you look at houseofnames.com they have a page about "Roosevelt" name (here [4]). This says it is variant of "Roose" just like how "Maiorana" is variant of "Maior", I imagine the endings like "velt" and "ana" came about in medieval times. The site doesn't have specific page about "Maiorana", but this is probably because there were no Presidents called Maiorana. Also see "Brodkin" (here [5]), variant of "Brod". Instead of removing info, I'd like if you helped re-phrase some of what's written so it suits Wiki better, model it on Grant (name) or McQueen (surname) articles. Houseofnames.com is a scam intended to flatter visitors with impressive-looking but completely unreliable claims about surnames in order to get them to buy merchandise, such as framed "surname histories" with fake coats of arms. New Page Review needs your help

Hi Hegvald,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

Thabks kindly for your support and advice. You are right. The article requires and deserves expansion due to the availability of easily accessible sources to warrant its inclusion in an encyclopedia. The issue is laziness on my part (wanting to start a tiny article meeting minimal requirements for inclusion, and gradually add to it) and I will make an effort to rectify it. Swish is widely used here in Sweden and there are plenty of potential sources.[7] From what I remember and what I can see in the Google-cached version, it does not look particularly promotional. They were used rather promotionally, essentially "here are all the great features!" The first is just the program's website, three of the others appear to be dead or Facebook, and only one might be useful. I can see the text in Google's cache. It does not literally say "here are all the great features!" or anything similar. It is dry, descriptive and factual. It just describes how Swish is used and as much about the backend and its corporate backing as is needed at this length. The article could use better sourcing to support what it says, but I see no need to rewrite the text as a whole. Articles for Creation July 2021 Backlog Elimination Drive
