Some ideas[edit]

Okay. First, I'm sorry that your early experiences have been frustrating on Wikipedia. Evidently, in addition to copyright concerns, there have been some issues with promotional text. I myself have not been looking for promotional material in your text and so don't know precisely where you may have run into problems there. Looking at your contributions, it would seem that you are a specialist in this field, perhaps affiliated with this particular organization. If so, you should read over the conflict of interest guidelines and our business FAQ to get some ideas how to contribute without encountering these issues.

If you are an industry professional and associated with one or more of the entities about which you've been writing, you do have the option to verify permission for this text. As mentioned above, the process for that is at donating copyrighted materials. Before verifying permission, though, you should realize that your permission, which is non-revocable, will allow Wikipedia's users to change and reproduce your content, even commercially. They have to provide attribution (give you credit), but so long as they do that and comply with other licensing requirements (such as not trying to restrict reuse of it by others), you would have no say over how the material is handled. If you are comfortable with that and in position to release, the simplest way is to put a notice at the website. You can verify through e-mail. Both those processes are explained at donating copyrighted materials, but if you have questions about them I am happy to explain.

You do need to realize, though, that even if you verify permission, that doesn't mean the material will be deemed appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If, for example, it is promotional or otherwise does not meet our policies and guidelines (an overview of core issues can be read at "five pillars"), it may be deleted or changed.

If you do not verify permission, you can still contribute content about these entities if it is written in new language that does not infringe the copyright of the creator. You are more likely to meet success if you contribute one well-developed article than multiple articles about related points. Your best odds of success are if you use reliable sources (such as newspaper articles or magazine profiles) to verify how the information is notable. In addition to verifiability, other core content policies are neutrality and "no original research", which means that even if you know something is true you can only include it if you can verify it. If you stay within those core content policies and if you provide sources to verify notability, you'll probably be fine.

I had gone through and standardized the categorization on a number of Indian government-related articles. I noticed tonight that for several of the articles, you reverted one of my changes: that of {{India-stub}} to {{India-gov-stub}}. The articles you changed:

So far as I can tell, all of these are, in fact, government-related articles. If you have reliable sources stating that any of these are not government-related, please correct the article where it says that they are government-related (including the source), and revert back to the general stub. However, if these are (as the articles currently all state) government-related, then the categorization should be {{India-gov-stub}}—and I've consequently changed them back. Hi, Hemant Vohra. As you already know, Bachat Lamp Yojna, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation Building Code, etc. are government of India programs -- and therefore are tagged as such. I think one of the difficulties you have encountered in creating these new articles is you have used what appears to be a private company website as reference. Unfortunately, that falls under the category of advertising and usually causes an article to be deleted. Or, at least, severely edited. This is even more so when an employee of a company adds links on behalf of the company. Please see WP:PROMO for more details on avoiding this. These articles about India government programs are notable and make great additions to WP. Because you are familiar with them, it would be great if you can help expand and improve them. However, they should only be referenced to official government sources, like the BEE, or independent sources, like newspapers or magazines. (For example, the current stub of Bachat Lamp Yojna). CFL Lighting Scheme - Bachat Lamp Yojna (BLY)[edit]

The Bachat Lamp Yojna aims at the large scale replacement of incandescent bulbs in households by CFLs. It seeks to provide CFLs to households at the price similar to that of incandescent bulbs and plans to utilize the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol to recover the cost differential between the market price of the CFLs and the price at which they are sold to households.
Bachat Lamp Yojana The Bachat Lamp Yojna is designed as a public-private partnership between the Government of India, private sector CFL suppliers and State level Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOMs). The CFL suppliers would sell high quality CFLs to households at a price of Rs. 15 per CFL within a designated project area in a DISCOM region of operation. The CFL supplier will be chosen by the DISCOM through a due diligence process from a list of CFL suppliers empanelled by BEE. Under the scheme only 60 Watt and 100 Watt incandescent Lamps will be replaced with 11- 15 Watt and 20 - 25 Watt CFLs respectively. BEE will monitor the electricity savings in each project area in accordance with the monitoring methodology prescribed by the Executive Board of the CDM.

For this purpose, BEE has developed smart meters based on GSM technology that are fitted between the socket and the CFL in sample households in each project area. The GSM based meter collects the data on hours of use and energy consumed by the sample CFL and sends this information by SMS to the central server. An independent agency has already been selected for this job and meters have been installed in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh and Yamunagar, Haryana. Test of these meters have been carried out in NABL accredited labs. It is expected that around 50 lakh CFLs will be replaced in each DISCOM area.

In order to reduce the transaction costs associated with the approval of CDM projects, BEE has developed a Programme of Activities (PoA) which would serve as an umbrella CDM project, and would be registered with the CDM Executive Board. The individual projects, designed to be in conformance with the umbrella project, would be added to the umbrella project as and when they are prepared. The development of the PoA is a voluntary action on the part of BEE, and it would not seek any commercial or CDM revenues from the PoA. On the other hand, BEE will, on behalf of the Government of India take the responsibility of monitoring of all project areas after the DISCOMs and the CFL suppliers have entered into a tripartite agreement (TPA) with BEE.

GTZ is a corporation which blurs the line between private and public industry -- a private enterprise owned by the German government which functions in cooperation with public programs. The terms "cooperation" and "contract" are somewhat fluid in this instance. Okay, from what I understand now, I think that our initial assessment about spam and advertising in the previous articles was incorrect. I think you should go ahead an expand the articles -- using your own words. Add information about GTZ and the German-Indo Energy group where it is appropriate -- but limit the tone of the writing to neutral facts. Try and use independent sources -- like newspaper, magazines, and journals. Link directly to the BEE or India Government source where possible. And, of course, refrain from adding any copied sources -- everything on those websites is copyrighted and can not be taken directly. I'll keep a watch on the articles as they progress. Hello, Hemant Vohra. You seem to have a misunderstanding here. As we discussed above, these group of articles do concern programs of the government of India. Therefore they fall within the category of the Template:India-gov-stub. This does not mean that the article is limited to that category, only that it is one subject under which it can be sub-categorized. Placing that template on the article simply makes it easier for interested editors from the Wikipedia:WikiProject India to notice the article and to help improve it. Your persistence in reverting proper edits by others is not helping to improve the articles -- and, as correctly explained to you by User:DoriSmith, has become disruptive editing and considered vandalism. This also applies to your behavior toward User:Rsrikanth05 and the improper deletions of his user page. This kind of behavior -- especially towards editors who have been attempting to help you improve these articles -- is not tolerated. Wikipedia operates on a basis of civility and discussion. It also requires considerable time to understand the workings and writing methods of an encyclopedia. There are many experienced editors here who have been trying to help. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days.
