Dispute

Hi. User:QuestFour, even though I warned them, they continue to edit war on Alien Resurrection without an actual reasonable explanation. Can you also at least warn them? They are not even trying to dicuss it on the talk page, per WP:BRD. Have a nice day. Sebastian James what's the T? 20:23, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Sebastian James. It seems I'm a little late to the party. Since they have begun discussing it on Talk:Alien Resurrection I think I'll let BRD play out. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:56, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
This user haven't found any support of their opinion on the talk page, and still reverting to their preference no matter what has been written. Can you warn them now? Sebastian James what's the T? 09:32, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
And now they are threatening me because they think they did "constructive edits". They also consider adding unsourced information with grammatical errors. I'm shocked that they are still edit warring over such a little issue. Sebastian James what's the T? 09:49, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
@Sebastian James: I'm quite busy IRL but I want you to know I'm not ignoring you. Please give me time to review. In the mean time, please try to continue conversation and try to find a compromise. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 15:24, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Okay Sebastian James, I have taken time to review and research. You asked me specifically to warn them about their behaviour. I do not feel comfortable doing that at this moment. In my opinion, you both need to stop with these threats and escalations. This won't help anyone. Focus on the content, not the editor. I know this is an old adage on Wikipedia but it is true. Pointing out mishaps of their previous editing on unrelated pages is unhelpful to a constructive discussion. I noticed things got more heated as unrelated edits and threats were used in the discussion (this is from both of you). I don't think there is a case where either of you are going to get blocked right now. Neither of you have reverted since March 31, nearly 5 days ago. I would also not classify this as tendentious editing as you both seemed to have dropped the stick. If you still think there is an issue, I am going to have to point you elsewhere. As I stated before, I am very busy and will be unable to give my full attention to Wikipedia. You can see from my contributions that I have barely edited in the last few weeks. Maybe 10 edits a day. You are more than welcome to request for comment or approach someone else.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:37, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi. I doubt that Daddy Lesons (talk · contribs) is a sockpuppet of MileyCy 1Fan. Same pattern and mainly focus on Miley Cyrus articles. 2402:1980:8244:864F:A9E1:2B5D:E76:5879 (talk) 04:59, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

I've belatedly filed the SPI. This really should have been done earlier before the user could continue editing disruptively. (I would note that I wouldn't expect an IP editor to file an SPI, since unregistered users can't use Twinkle without manually loading it as a URL parameter.) Jc86035 (talk) 08:59, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
As someone who is unfamiliar with MileyCy 1Fan and does not have the checkuser rights, I am uncomfortable blocking. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:57, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Gord Kirke

On 11 June 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gord Kirke, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Canadian sports lawyer Gord Kirke agreed to represent Bret Hart due to the wrestler's poetry? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gord Kirke. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Gord Kirke), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Lmdf234 copyright violation

User Lmfd234 has copied material from a website to Archbishop Stepinac High School today, an apparent copyright violation. You dealt with this same issue on Dec 20, 2018. They don't seem to respond well to simple warnings. Perhaps you can get their attention. Gab4gab (talk) 18:42, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

@Gab4gab: I have left them a message. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:07, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

/* History */ update

Dear Hickory:

I am the current Head of Global Education (History) at Georgetown District High School. I am a paid employee for the Halton District School Board.

Sincerely,

/* History */ update

Please allow me to make changes to this site! The information that is currently on our Wikipedia site is incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RandallKeast (talkcontribs) 21:03, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

@RandallKeast: Thank you for finally disclosing but this is not how you do it. You must follow the links I have provided on your user page (such as WP:DISCLOSE) and stop adding promotional and unsourced material to pages. I recommend you read over the pages I have provided links to (such as WP:COI) and understand that Wikipedia isn't meant to be another website for you to promote on. All changes should be proposed through WP:Edit requests but the Wikipedia community is not forced to accept them. One of the main pillars of Wikipedia is maintaining a neutral point of view and editors with paid or other interests conflict with this goal. It is in your best interest to not edit the page and leave it alone. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:05, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

Updating information

Dear Hickory:

Again, I appreciate your reasoning for how someone edits Wikipedia. I am a historian and do not understand the intricacies of adding text using the language of a computer. The information that is currently on the Georgetown District High School page is incorrect. I will discuss this with whom I believe is the original contributor (Stephen Skrovonek) and see if he can edit the page with the updated information.

Thank you,

Randall Keast, — Preceding unsigned comment added by RandallKeast (talkcontribs) 21:21, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi RandallKeast and thanks for the reply. That's a fair concern the community hears a lot. Wikicode can be confusing to new timers. That's a fair assertion. If you copy and paste your disclosure of your conflict of interest to your user page (click the red link where your name is) I believe that would be a fair way to disclose. While you are able to message Stephan please keep in mind that we are all volunteers who chose to dedicate our time to Wikipedia. As such, some editors may not reply promptly. I once again recommend creating a new section on Talk: Georgetown District High School to propose edits. Please be advised you are required to provide sources for all claims. I also recommend checking out our new editor help desk where established editors will quickly answer your questions. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:27, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I reviewed this DYK nomination a few days ago and left it pending a QPQ. I'm new to this so I don't know if you need to review another DYK. If not, please let me know and I'll pass it. Thanks very much. No Great Shaker (talk) 10:31, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

@No Great Shaker: Thanks for the message, I must've missed your review. I do need to complete a QPQ and I'll try to do that ASAP. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 16:08, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
Thank you. I've passed the review. Well done. No Great Shaker (talk) 09:48, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

Congrats Hickory! Fwiw, as the asker (don't think that's a word, but going to use it anyways) of Q4, I was actually planning on supporting you after seeing everyone's arguments regarding the RfPP thing (I initially wanted to give it a bit of time to see what everyone else had to say about it), but the RfA closed before I got the chance. Either way, I'm happy you were willing to step up and that you passed; it looks like my !vote wouldn't make much of a difference. :-) Now we just need to convince Bonadea to run...--SkyGazer 512 My talk page 13:19, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Piling on with the congratulations - looks like you had solid support across the community, thanks for putting yourself forward for this. GirthSummit (blether) 14:58, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Canadian female NASCAR driver

Are you interested in Kat Teasdale at List of female NASCAR drivers? Vroom vroom! Flibirigit (talk) 00:33, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: While the female aspect interests me, I know absolutely nothing about NASCAR. The closest I've gotten is the Piston Cup championship. I'm really busy this weekend and will probably be too busy/tired to work on many articles so right now it's a hard maybe. You might be better off working on it yourself. I can look more into it on Monday. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:49, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
No worries, I know nothing about NASCAR either. Flibirigit (talk) 00:52, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Anne Croy

On 26 June 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Anne Croy, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Anne Croy. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Anne Croy), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000.
