You've heard what I have to say. His drunkenness? Not your problem. You get the raw end of the deal having to deal with it, yes, and is it fair? Absolutely not. Suicide fixes the here and now, but what of the future? Well, it will no longer exist. You won't have to put up with your father, but you won't have to put up with us either. No having to deal with warm summer days, and picnics on the beach, no having to bother travelling around the world and seeing all the wonderful sights there are to see. No laughing with friends, no more chess tournaments, no more staying up late writing with a flashlight under the covers. No finding out what a good wine with cheese and baguette on a cool autumn afternoon tastes like. No chance to cheer up somebody's day, to tell someone they matter, or to tell them you care. No hugs or sticky kisses from cousins or neices or nephews, no thrill at entering college or university knowing you're creating a future for yourself. No nervous first day at the job that will rocket you skywards to become all you want to be. No notes from friends saying "thank you for caring", no birthday parties, no holiday celebrations, no chance to do all the things you haven't gotten to do yet. Fly a plane, go scuba diving, sail around the world, beat Deep Blue. Who knows?
Life holds far too many possibilities to throw it away now. You DO have people who care about you. You ARE loved, and you DO matter. Don't you ever let anyone tell you you don't. Prove, to your father and to us and most importantly to yourself, that you can survive and make a difference and become something. I know you can, and you are going to. There is no way someone as talented and smart as you could do anything less. Life is hard, but there are too many things to enjoy and to accomplish and to see in the world to throw it away now.

I may not know you as well as some, but if there's anything Wikipedia has taught us, it's that anyone, child or adult, educated or not, has the power to spread knowledge to the world, to millions of living people and people yet unborn. Even your small contributions are greatly magnified in their impact. But that doesn't just apply to Wikipedia articles - even when you just talk to a friend or smile at a stranger, you're permanently improving the larger world in a way that you can't escape, even in death. - I can't add anything like what E@L wrote, because it's just so well-written, so let me just add to what Deco said: User:Ed once had an essay about how even the slightest action can make a big difference in someone else's life. The essay was deleted because it was unencyclopedic, but the message still holds true: by choosing life, you can still help others and impact the world. It may not feel like it now, but you have the potential to touch countless lives, both now and especially in the future. Please don't throw that away. Dear Hildanknight, I have looked through your pages and I just feel compelled to add my two cents worth of encouragement. At fifteen every thing can seem all black or all white. You need to have someone, other than just the friends of your age to be able to talk to and to give you some guidance; I don't know, maybe a sympathetic teacher you respect or a counsellor, or someone older who will just listen. You are lucky to be blessed with the gift of writing. May I suggest you take up reading too? And not just reading on the net. When I was 14, I had an experience that would probably equal what you are going thru and I was alone, not daring to trust anyone, not even my family. Books were my solace and I am what I am today because of them (luckily there was no internet then). But I made it, so can you. Perhaps Wikipedia is not the best place for you. You should take it in small doses. The culture here is one of bullying and mediocrity. You are better off wandering around library shelves like I did and learn about the classics, the world at large, art and literature. You are welcome to meet my hubby (an established singaporean poet and writer) and I when we come back to Singapore in summer. I have offered to host the summer meetup of the SGpedians but I don't know if they will accept. Mine and Your Views on the "Other Games" Section of AdventureQuest[edit]
It's clear me and you have different views on the "Other Games" section it the AdventureQuest article. To avoid an edit war or anyone walking out of this upset, I will offer a compramise option... I think we should remove it and add that info elsewhere in the article, or make a "Guardian Perks" section. This way no real space is "wasted", and we are both happy. - I placed "Other Artix games" as a subsection of "Guardianship", along with the "X-Guardian Boost" and "Z-Tokens" section, because the X-Boost, Z-Tokens and access to ArchKnight/ZardWars are all Guardian perks. Each subsection represents a Guardian perk. I don't see the point in moving the "Other Artix games" subsection to another section (and creating its own section would be overkill). A "Guardian Perks" section is redundant, because, as I have previously said, each subsection of the "Guardianship" section represents a Guardian perk.

I Not Stupid[edit]
Here is my proposed draft for the plot section. It is a more condensed version, and the one part which I cannot figure just yet where to put it, is the part about Selena being arrested and reconciling with her mother...
"The film revolves primarily around the experiences in school of three kids. Liu Kok Pin, Terry Khoo and Ang Boon Hock are primary school students in the EM3 stream. Kok Pin is the gifted artist who does not like studying, Terry the pampered boy who always listens to his parents, and Boon Hock the streetsmart and loyal defender of friends. The three kids all come from different family backgrounds, and the experiences faced by their parents at work, as well as the relationships between parent and child, form the subplots of the film.
The Khoo family is the richest of the three. Mr. Khoo is a belligerent businessman who owns Good Friend Ba Gua, a company selling bakkwa. Mrs. Khoo is an over-protective mother who likes to dictate what her children should do, claiming that is "for their own good". While Terry obeys her commands, Selena, her older daughter, rebels against her. Selena and Mrs. Khoo’s relationship deteriorates over the course of the movie as they often quarrel over trivial things.
The Liu family is the quintessential middle-income family in Singapore. Mr. Liu works in an advertising firm, but finds himself often marginalised at the workplace because his ideas are not taken seriously. Mrs. Liu also works, and the film focuses on her obsession with Kok Pin’s grades in school and Mr. Liu’s career prospects. She frequently canes Kok Pin for his poor grades and does not believe his artistic talents are of any practical use.
The Ang family is the poorest; Mrs. Ang sells wantan noodles to make ends meet while Mr. Ang (is/has been imprisoned? I cannot remember)… fill in the blanks.
The three kids are enrolled in the same school and soon develop a friendship. They become demoralised when they learn that they have been drafted into the academically inferior EM3 stream. Tiong Meng, Boon Hock’s cousin, mocks them. A fight ensues and he suffers a face injury. At the Discipline Mistress’s office, Boon Hock and Kok Pin explain what happened. Due to his mother’s instructions to "mind his own business", Terry declines to testify in their favour. This infuriates his friends, who accuse him of "not being a man". A new teacher, Ms. Lee, is appointed to take charge of the kids’ class. She inspires Boon Hock to excel in his studies, and he rises to the head of his class in maths. Boon Hock and Terry also become closer friends, but Selena joins a teenage gang in her quest for greater freedom from her mother.
Meanwhile, Mr. Liu and Mr. Khoo cross paths. The advertising company which Mr. Liu works for hires an American, John, as the Creative Director. Mr. Liu and John compete to convince a client to accept a proposal, and John steals some of Mr. Liu’s ideas for his proposal. The client turns out to be Mr. Khoo, who instantly chooses John’s proposal, because he bore a grudge against Mr. Liu; the two had an altercation before over a parking lot. However, as John’s ideas are totally incompatible with Chinese customs, Mr. Khoo’s business suffers.
An ex-employee of Good Friend Ba Gua then schemes to take revenge Mr. Khoo, who had fired him over a mistake he made at work. With the help of an accomplice, he attempts to kidnap Terry. Boon Hock tries to save his friend, but the kidnappers decide to take him as well. Kok Pin is shoved onto the ground in the struggle and is left behind as the van speeds away. When the police question him as a witness, Kok Pin manages to draw the two kidnappers’ faces successfully.
The kidnappers take Kok Pin and Terry to an attap dwelling in a sparsely populated area of the island. The ex-employee reveals that he is a foreign worker on visa who borrowed a substantial amount of money from loansharks to come to Singapore, and he does not wish to return home empty-handed. He has kidnapped them to demand 20 thousand dollars from Mr. Khoo as ransom. While the kidnappers are sleeping, Boon Hock starts planning an escape, but Terry is initially reluctant to run away. After he decides to join the escape, the kidnappers wake up. A tumultuous chase ensues in the jungle outside the hut, which results in the kidnappers’ arrest.
In the preliminary examinations that follow, the kids face another challenge. Eventually, Boon Hock helps Kok Pin cheat in the exams, but they are caught. Kok Pin, unable to face his mother, attempts suicide unsuccessfully. Mrs. Liu is later diagnosed with leukemia, and is given three months to live. The school rallies to find a suitable bone marrow donor so that she can undergo a bone marrow transplant. In the PSLE mathematics exam, Book Hock scores 92/100; Terry, 65/100; and Kok Pin, 51/100. Contrary to Kok Pin's fears, his mother is satisfied because he has tried his best. When visiting Mrs. Liu at the hospital, Ms. Lee announces that one of Kok Pin’s drawings won second prize in an international competition.
As the search for bone marrow donors continues, Mr. Khoo is found to pass the HLA test, but he refuses to donate after discovering the intended recipient is his enemy’s wife. However, it is then revealed that the suitable donor is Terry, and not Mr. Khoo. Despite protests from his parents, Terry insists on undergoing the operation, which is a success. A grateful Mr. Liu offers to help Mr. Khoo’s business with his proposal. Mr. Khoo accepts and his business booms, and the two enemies become good friends."

Okay, so we’ve been talking and we decided that we need to set up a couple go-to guys for questions about the project. Everybody who is part of the WikiProject should type the name of someone whom they would like to nominate for this position and place it on my talk page. The person with the most nominations becomes the MainProject Lead, or our go to guy, and the runner up is his assistant. (If the winner accepts. I saw you asked right before the GA/R was archived about the pictures thing, and I thought you should know that the only thing the GA criteria asks for in images is that if they are there, they must be properly tagged. If they bend the article out of shape, that doesn't really have anything to do with GA status, if someone fails the article again where the only problem is images making the article look messy, file another GA/R, and the article will likely be passed. I think it was mostly sent back to GAC because of the disparity between what a PR and a Good Article review look for, and because the first fail was so long ago. Homestarmy 18:12, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Look, "下雪" just means "to snow" in Chinese, so the GHit counts between "下雪" and "Xiaxue" are obviously not comparable. All the top hits in Chinese for that term are thus about actual snow falling, not about Wendy Cheng's blog. When you restrict the search to .sg sites only, "Xiaxue" gets 51,600 hits [1], but "下雪" gets only 296 hits [2]. Non-English sources are certainly welcome for expanding an article, but I'm extremely confused as to why you're expecting that an English-language blog (especially a non-political one) is going to be widely covered in Chinese media and that Chinese sources will add anything substantative to the article which hasn't already been mentioned in the far more in-depth English-language coverage; the Chinese blogosphere has its own popular blogs, including ones filling the same niche as Ms. Cheng's. cab 02:13, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- You passed my "Chinese test". As I learnt during my attempts to push I Not Stupid to GA status, when it comes to references on Singaporean topics, don't expect to be spoilt for choice. Every reference you can find is worth its weight in gold. I agree with your statement that "she's has [sic] probably been noted more widely by English-language media than Chinese-language media", but I will need Chinese-language references (and reliable web-based references) to complement the English-language newspaper articles I already have. --J.L.W.S. I Not Stupid[edit]
Hi, Hildanknight. The talkpage of I Not Stupid is totally mysterious to me, I don't understand how and where I'm supposed to put any comments for a GA review, or in comment on the existing GA reviews. When I got to the last line, that the discussion had been archived and please not to modify it, I gave up. Is there supposed to be more reviewing or not..? Anyway, basically, I agree with User:Wisekwai that most of the criticisms in the review above his commentary are mistaken. On an importance scale for WikiProject:Films, I definitely think the subject is of high importance. And I still have the same major problem with the article I was telling you about before: I think the plot summary is too long and verbose. I could shorten it for you. In fact, I went there intending to put a shorter version on the talkpage for discussion, but, well, like I said, I had to give up. If you want me to use the talkpage, you'll have to tell me how. - WiseKwai found a GA/R discussion which he thought we'd find useful, so he copied it to the talk page. That explains the line which states "This discussion has been archived. Please do not modify it." You should reply in the section entitled GA Review (Failed). I agree that the plot section is too long; I intended to spend the bulk of the two eeeks shortening it. - Hello. Several people have already explained to me what to do, and commented on my comments, on my own page! Chensiyuan's rewrite above is a big improvement, IMO. All the changes are good. It's very good that s/he summarizes it in a more analytical way. By analytical I mean, for instance, mentioning that the three boy's families each represents one income group, so that together they cover a spectrum—rich, middle-income, and poor noodle-seller—the whole thing comes alive that way, and becomes more structured, and more interesting. I wish Chensiyuan had done still more of that sort of thing. The more analytically you write, the shorter the summary can be. If I were you, I would look at all the remaining details—say Selena, for instance, who may well be an interesting part of the film, but is not an interesting part of the summary, because she's too disconnected from everything else—and try to either connect, or remove, those details. If you do it right, each of these moves—connecting Selena, or removing her—should shorten the summary. Selena is just one example. Good luck. Bishonen | talk 17:21, 25 June 2007 (UTC).

However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
