Welcome![edit]

Hello, Hollahopping, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to complete the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit the Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Might be a record[edit]

Your first edit may be a contender for "mightiest beginning". Moonraker (talk) 08:52, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Commonname format[edit]

Hi - good work on your editing. Could I just remind you however that where names are piped from a linked biography page, the Commonname should be displayed in the article or list, not the full name. For example your recent edit “Henry Duncan McLaren” should be “Henry McLaren”. Thanks and good luck! MapReader (talk) 16:29, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

HotCat and other Category Tools[edit]

Hi! It looks like you are doing alot with Categories. You might consider enabling Wikipedia:HotCat, so that you can do it with a simpler and more user friendly interface.

Also, I highly encourage using the Help:Edit summary: they communicate to other editors that you have an intention in what you are editing, and that you want those editors to understand what you are doing. Cheers, Sadads (talk) 22:00, 5 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I just tried to start editing the 1924 General Election and seem to have been blocked and I am unsure as to why. The overwhelming amount of my edits so far on wikipedia have been adding the names of the Members of Parliament who have lost their seats from January 1910 to 1923. I was hoping to start on the 1924 MPs today since I had finished the other lists. I was wondering if I could be unblocked so that I may continue my editing. As you can see I haven't been blocked before and I hope that I haven't been blocked because of the additions that I have added to the articles. Hollahopping (talk) 08:34, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Aside from your rapid fire creation of blank articles-- you'll need to not do that if you are unblocked-- this is a sockpuppetry and/or checkuser block. Check users have access to technical and personally identifying information they may not disclose openly on Wikipedia. Please read and heed the relevant sections of the WP:GAB. If this is not your original account, you will need to appeal at your original account. Sorry, I can't be more helpful. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 09:43, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

As the editor above kindly told me, I have been accused of being something called a sockpuppet. I don't really know or understand what that is, as apart from attempting to create a few articles, which I published rather than put into drafts, the majority of my edits have been around politicians who were members of parliament from January 1910 to 1923. I was hoping to make a start on those from 1924 today, but found myself blocked. I've never been blocked before and as you will see from the edits I have made, many of these articles had not been touched in years. So I'm hoping that I may be allowed to continue editing the general election articles since that is what I have been doing for a couple of months with no issue. Hollahopping (talk) 10:37, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Behavioural and/or technical evidence strongly suggests that this account is a sockpuppet. Simple denial is not considered a sufficient reason to unblock the account. In order to be unblocked, you will need to convince the reviewing administrator that there is a better explanation for this apparent connection than the abuse of multiple accounts. Request reason:

In response to the editor above, the apparent connection to this IP address, that I am currently using, is that it spans multiple hospitals and universities, meaning thousands of people, including sockpuppet people, may have at one time used it aswell. If you look at my edits they are not related to anyone else Hollahopping (talk) 11:06, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

It is not the case that your block is based solely on IP address. It is not the case that your edits are unrelated to anyone else. Yamla (talk) 12:14, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Hollahopping. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Robert Cornwallis Maude".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! JMHamo (talk) 11:15, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
