Deletion review for Category:User Follyglot

Hi, Horologium, I have asked for a deletion review of Category:User Follyglot. You participated in the original discussion here. So, here's your courtesy pointer.

Thanks!

Andrew Martinez

On the page for Andrew Martinez you deleted a video that I had linked to it showing that his "fame" had spread to national newsworthy proportions on MTV. How does that not add to its noteworthiness? Richard ruffian (talk) 23:19, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

It was just a very brief mention of his activities at UCB. There was nothing in the clip that really added to the article, and (because it's on YouTube) it wasn't even a really useful item for establishing notoriety (YouTube clips are not considering reliable sourcing because video clips can be manipulated). The article has enough reliable sources (and there is another reliable source at the related WikiNews story) to establish notability, and that low-quality video clip doesn't provide much. On adminship

Hello. I asked you a few months back on if you wanted to be an admin, but you were in the midst of an arbcom case. That has since been over, so I was wondering if you would like to take a shot at it now. Let me know of your decision. Wizardman 17:47, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I will accept your offer, but give me a few days to prepare myself. (grin) You might want to ask User:Jc37 if he wants to co-nominate; he had asked me back in November, at which time I declined. He might still be interested. Horologium (talk) 17:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Yay! :) I'd be happy to write up a co-nomination as well, though I'm also content to express my support in the more standard way (no, I don't mean this...), since I've noticed that the presence of too many co-nominations is apparently frowned upon by some, though I have no idea how many is "too many" (all I can say for sure is: 2 < "too many" < ∞). Black Falcon (Talk) 05:59, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
Well I had 3 co-noms. And from what I can tell, it's not til after 4 that people start wondering and/or complaining. - jc37 18:17, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh... maybe, possibly, probably (*Bonk*) - Yes I would : p
And Kudos to Wizardman to finally pushing you over the hump to accepting (He must have a real knack for it, this isn't the first time he's helped someone I first had suggested adminship to : ) - jc37 18:15, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

quick question

I can figure out how to set up an RFA template in my userspace (to add my answers to the three standard questions), but is that how I need to approach setting this up? I would assume that you and Wizardman would add your nomination statements, and then I would transclude it over to the RFA page. Am I missing something? Horologium (talk) 18:18, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Horologium - I just did the basic subst of the template so far. Feel free to work on the questions. Those of us above who're still interested (pokes them) will write up noms, and after that you can "offically" accept or refuse. (Looks around for a cattle prod, just in case...) - jc37 18:24, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay, the questions are done. (I worked them up over the weekend.) Horologium (talk) 18:30, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I kinda figured, considering how fast you did that.
I tend to struggle with the text of a nom, so it may be a bit before I add it. I left placeholders for the others' noms as well. - jc37 18:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Wondering where everyone else went...
Anyway, I've posted 5 questions that I felt were relevant to a couple RfAs. Check out User:Jc37/RfA/General questions, and think about what your responses would be. Before I add them, though, I think I'd like thoughts/insight from at least one of the other nominators. - jc37 23:43, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Q4 - Done and saved at User:Horologium/Sandbox2. Horologium (talk) 00:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok. I guess we're just waiting on the other two (Oh, and me to finish writing my co-nom : ) - jc37 01:03, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure if Wizardman has my talk page on his watchlist, so he may not be aware that the template is up and ready. I'm pretty sure BF does have my page watchlisted, as per his prompt response in the RFA nom above. Did you find the cattle prod? (Perhaps a magic wand for the wizard and a lizard for the falcon might work a bit better...) (grin) Horologium (talk) 01:10, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I was bogged down in Africa for a while. :)
I'm writing my co-nom right now (although ... I do think better after a small snack. ;)
As for questions, two others that are frequently seen at RFA are: "What is the difference between a block and a ban?" and "What are your thoughts on WP:IAR? When should it be used? When should it not be used?". The questions are not posed on all RfAs, but they are quite common. Black Falcon (Talk) 01:34, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
("Here, lizard, lizard, lizard" : )
Anyway, I added the questions. I didn't add BF's, because the first gets too much into detail (I was trying to stay very general), and I think the main concerns about IAR are about speedy deletion (or otherwise ignoring process), and I think I've covered that already. I tried to stay focused on admin tools only. That said, he is, of course, welcome to add them as well (smiles at the thought of the nominators adding 20 questions even before it starts, let's go for a record : ) - jc37 17:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
(grin)
I don't think the IAR and "ban vs. block" questions need to be added in advance; as you noted, your questions address the main points relevant to admin tools. Black Falcon (Talk) 21:29, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
(outdent) Yes, a template transcluded with 20 questions in place would be different, all right; not good, but different. (smile) Hopefully, my answer to question 3 will eliminate the need for the IAR question, Although I do have an answer formulated for it should it come up. The other question is also routine, and I know the difference between the two. Horologium (talk) 17:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok I've read the responses to my questions over. I'm going to try not to "pick them apart" too much, but I see some concerns that may confuse commenters. So you may want to clarify before this goes "live" today.
The first sentence of 4a, while somewhat clarified by the following, would concern me; a lot. Please clarify.
4d - please re-read my personal criteria and maybe you'll see the concerns there. Please clarify.
4e - just comes across a bit fast and loose. You may want to more clearly clarify.
Note, I'm merely requesting clarification, I'm not prompting you, or giving you answers. - jc37 18:37, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I saw what you meant about the first, and it was not what I intended. That was easy to fix. The other two took a bit more work, but I think I more clearly explained my views and the actions I would take. Horologium (talk) 20:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification.
Incidentally, I'll be adding my nom, shortly. (I'm first done? That never happens. Looks around for the others...) - jc37 20:40, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Or not. I'm not quite done, and I have to go for a bit. bbl : ) - jc37 21:08, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I just finished revising my nom to a more reasonable length, and will post it now. Black Falcon (Talk) 21:29, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
And now mine has been added. Though I just noticed that our candidate hasn't actually accepted on the page yet : )
He may wish to do that before transclusion : ) - jc37 08:52, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
And we're off! (smile) I decided to wait until after I had been actually, y'now, nominated before accepting. Just seemed a little cart-before-the-horse to do otherwise. (laughs) Horologium (talk) 11:44, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, I hope you liked the noms. I'll admit I had to nearly completely re-write mine. (Though I did enjoy poking fun at BF : ) - jc37 17:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Consider me adequately chastised.[1][2]
......................................[3] ;)
Black Falcon (Talk) 18:06, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
I think I'm going to have to create an award: "Jc's chuckle of the day" : ) - jc37 18:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
BTW, JC, are you going to vote to support me? BF and Wizardman have already added their supports... Horologium (talk) 18:09, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
I already have (see if you can find it : )
But to answer what you're actually asking, nope. And you can blame Kbdank for it. (By extension, since it sounds like Radiant! was the initial culprit.) I didn't agree at first, but since then, I think I see the wisdom of it. Though if you near WP:100, I'll be happy to "put you over the top" : ) - jc37 18:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Please see my comments to the Bluemarine request. Thank you for your diligence. The waters are very muddied over at that dispute. Unfortunately I'll be away for most of the day and might be hard to reach if immediate follow-up is necessary. DurovaCharge! 15:08, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

You've got mail

I know you don't check it every day. :P Horologium (talk) 01:14, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. Though I check it more often lately than I once did : ) - jc37 15:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

thank spam

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with 194 supporting, 9 opposing, and 4 neutral.
Your kindness and constructive criticism is very much appreciated. I look forward to using the tools you have granted me to aid the project. I would like to give special thanks to Tim Vickers, Anthony and Acalamari for their nominations.
Thank you again, VanTucky

RfA

Thanks, I forgot that I already put down my neutral, I did strike it out, thank you. The DominatorTalkEdits 14:35, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I have added yet another optional question. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 15:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, will review. Espresso Addict (talk) 17:15, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I mentioned your name...

in my most recent comment at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Arbitration enforcement#Bluemarine (just saying you and I could use more eyes on this). Aleta Sing 16:22, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

No problem, and I've hit the rollback button a few times already. Horologium (talk) 16:23, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

As the creator of the page (according to the history) I have now blanked the page and requested that it be deleted. The redirect is invalid and occurred when Mxl moved the page erroneously. They confused an upper case "i" with a lower case "L". Regards LittleOldMe (talk) 14:24, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

The reason I removed the tag is because others may make the same mistake, and having the redirect will send them to the correct article. It's not something I'm going to fight to protect, but it is a plausible search phrase. Horologium (talk) 14:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Rfa thanks

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Unfortunately all I can offer is this lame text thanks rather than some fancy-smancy thank-you spam template thingy. I was very pleased to receive such strong support and to hear so many nice comments from editors whom I respect. I’ll do my best with the tools, and if you ever see me going astray don’t hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. Thanks again for your support!--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 03:54, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Looks like our russian friends let WC stay per the discussion. I have been very busy lately, unfortunately not much time left to edit :-/. I was planning on expanding the lede of Coral Springs, it is ripe to be promoted. And you, any special projects lately? --Legionarius (talk) 02:14, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Other than my RFA? No, not really. Just some wiki-gnoming, vandalism reverts, and source additions. Horologium (talk) 02:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Take a look...

at User talk:Rushdittobot and the history of my talk page. John Reaves has indef. blocked Rush. Aleta Sing 21:54, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Oy. He'll be back; it's only a matter of time. Horologium (talk) 21:57, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
No doubt. Aleta Sing 22:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

OTRS about us. Aleta Sing 22:07, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

(rolls eyes) Wow, I'm getting it from both ends </irony>. Both Pwok and Sanchez are convinced that I am working against them; isn't that special. Maybe it's because I don't like PoV pushers on either side. Naaaah, that couldn't be it; that screws up the narrative too much. Horologium (talk) 22:37, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
LOL This whole thing is so absurd. Aleta Sing 22:42, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
I wonder if OTRS is empowered to send messages directly to a kill file after a while. From what JzG has said, Sanchez has bombarded them with requests, and now his meatpuppet is spinning up. This is asinine, and the timing really sucks for me. Horologium (talk) 22:45, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you

I'm glad you noticed.[4] :) DurovaCharge! 03:34, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I first saw it when the discussion was closed, and forgot about it when it was reopened. I remembered it when I read the entire discussion again. I'm not sure if it's Pwok, TennesseeJed4415, or someone else; it's not relevant to the discussion and it wildly violates AGF and NPA. Horologium (talk) 03:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Lady Aleena's RfA
