Can you help me out?

Hi, i saw that you did quite a work with the FIBA Americas for Men tournament, can you help me out by doing the same to the womens one as well. I dont know whether you are interested, but just to do the info box on the side like all the other olympic qualifiers. Here is the site, and do you have any idea where they get the number of federations from? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIBA_Americas_Championship_for_Women_2007 Roadrunnerz45 03:25, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

You can ask Parutakupiu about that. He can create a standard infobox for women's FIBA tourneys. It might screwup if I do it myself. --Howard the Duck 07:22, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Is it okay if you could include the Malolos Congress as well since that was the first legislature in Asia? Rizalninoynapoleon 14:03, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm too lazy to add it... the codings pretty complicated. Were parties existent by that time or are they of the same party but different factions (like the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks)? You can do it yourself if you'd want, but if they're of the same party I suggest not to add it to the table but deal it in passing, like "the Malolos Congress was..." --Howard the Duck 14:17, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

2007 in the Philippines

Hi, I am maintaining the Dutch version of this page. I see that you are the main contributor to the page on en.wikipedia. Do you have good sources I can use? Especially I was wondering whether there is a site that summarizes deaths of public or well known people in the Philippines? Magalhães 09:34, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

I dunno one specific site but usually if someone important dies, GMANews.tv and Inquirer.net are good sources. --Howard the Duck 03:21, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Philippines

Hi, the ethnic groups section of the Philippines artile is very misleading. If we are to go only by the data, then National Statistics says that the largest foreign group here would be the Chinese, followed by the Americans, Australians, Japanese, Britons, Asian Indians, and so forth. Filipinos of sole FRENCH descent only amount to less than 1,000 people. I see that the Filipinos of European descent, while not statistically significant, is however, historially significant, since many of our politicians and well-known figures are partly European (not Spanish) descent. Examples include Sen. Jaworski (Polish-Filipino), Bea Alonzo and Anne Curtis (British-Filipino), etc, which merit their (Europeans') inclusion in the said article. THe same can be said for Amerindians, whose contributions to the genetic ancestry of Filipinos, particularly in Luzon, have been largely undervalued - especially since most of the "Spanish" who came here are actually Mexican Mestizos. The fact that the Philippines has the largest Eurasian and Amerasian population in Asia has also been verified, and I see no harm in adding it to the article - in fact, it will help the article reflect the true status of Philippine demographics.

Matthewprc 03:52, 05 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, but why put only "foreign" ethnic groups there if you really insist? How about "local" ethnic groups that outnumber these "foreigners" by a mile? Then it'll become "foreigner"-POV. --Howard the Duck 03:58, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Canadians of Filipino descent? (previously titled Filipino Canadian)

Who renamed THAT article? There's a racist in Wikipedia... I suggest you read the history of "Canadians of Filipino descent". Hush... Also have you noticed the article "Asian Canadian"? There are two phrases in there... 203.167.2.88

I dunno, maybe it's a naming convention. I suggest to use the talk page of that article. --Howard the Duck 04:40, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

EXTERNAL MAP LINK?

Hi, I received a warning message from you for adding a link in the "Philippine" article. Interactive map of the Philippines It is an interactive map of the Philippines and offers some information that may not be available in wikipedia (as yet). Im not sure if your message was automatically generated, nevertheless, I still sent a message to let you know that the link is of educational value to researchers.

Wikimapia does that already. We don't need 2 links for the exact same thing. And the map doesn't show up at firefox either. --Howard the Duck 17:36, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

It is a valid link. If you want to create an article, place "<sport> at the Southeast Asian Games" at the search box then click go, then click at the red link. For example click Football at the Southeast Asian Games to start a football article. But please don't remove the basketball link since it encourage other people to start articles about other sports. --Howard the Duck 15:12, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

UAAP Overall Championship

Hello Howard! I was the one who edited the 1986-87 entry on this article, which you reverted. I just ask you one more time to kindly look at the UAAP official website at the Internet Archive. Don't only look at who was listed overall champion that year, but also look at championships for each of the sports that year. According to that very same official website you gave, NU only won a championship in one sport that year. UST, FEU and Adamson each have at least three championships each. If this is not enough to back up the claim that NU did not win that year, then please disregard this. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.60.243.115 (talk) 15:24, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

The system they used was different; it's not the total points a la Formula One, its the average placing, for example (theoretically) if NU placed 2nd, 1st, 3rd and 5th in all of the events they've entered, they'd have an average of 2.75, if UST placed 1st, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 4th, 6th, 2nd in all of the events, they'd end up with a score of 3.28. Since 2.75 > 3.28, NU wins (it's like golf, the lowest team wins). --Howard the Duck 15:29, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Alright then. Thanks 125.60.243.115 15:35, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Big Brother Infobox Color Change

Hi Howard the Duck, I have a discssion on the talk page of WP:BIGBRO about Infobox Colors. this discussion for a complete list of colors used by both the {{Big Brother housemates}} and {{Big Brother endgame}}. If you think that a different color should be used for something please have your say there. I just want to let you know that if you change a color in the Infobox then we have to change that respective color in the Nominations/Voting History tables as well. The current colors were agreed upon so both the Tables and the Infoboxes will have matching colors. Anyway thats my spill. I hope this helps. Oh and how do you format your name? The only thing I can get for mine is the music symbols. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 00:09, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Union Flag

True, places like England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland maybe sometimes regarded as countries. But the reason why I applied the Union Flag to the article of the 2007 World Pool Championship is because it is more famous than those other flags used in the UK. In movies and documentaries pertaining to Brits, they always use that flag. 61.9.126.41 22:40, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah but the official website uses the TLA ENG and SCO, not GBR. --Howard the Duck 02:03, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Featured List of the Day Experiment

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

NBA Playoffs

Hey there.

You added a section to NBA Playoffs about History under the Format heading. However, there was already a History heading in the article, which contains much of the same information in more concise descriptions. The new information is helpful (the diagrams in particular), but perhaps you could merge the two sections into one; I would also like to see if there is a way to shrink the diagrams to take up less of the page (perhaps make a png, or gif of the diagrams so they can be thumbnailed and expanded if readers want to see. I think the only diagram that needs to be full sized is the present system, which most casual readers will come to the article in search of. TheHYPO (talk) 15:33, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm actually currently creating a GIF, I used the diagram so I can see what they'd look like. Please don't remove them until tomorrow (It's hard to keep track historical edits). --Howard the Duck 15:38, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Naw, I wasn't going to delete them. They clutter the article up a bit, but I wouldn't say that the article is better with them gone; I also wouldn't suggest an improvement to your edit and then go ahead and blank your contributions ;) Keep up the good work TheHYPO (talk) 17:04, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
No, go ahead and delete them (but not now) I just added the text so I can understand what the diagram was saying. --Howard the Duck 03:06, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm confused. You want me to delete them... but not now... so why don't you just delete them when you've created the gifs and put them up, or whatever? TheHYPO (talk) 10:32, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
