Legislative Districts of the Philippines

Filipino nationalism

1. My understanding of WP:MOSNUM is that date formats should be consistent throughout an article (which here they weren't) and should align with local practice.
2. My understanding is that here in the Philippines dates generally are expressed as dmy, as evinced by for example newspaper headers and dates on TV.
3. My understanding of {{date}} is that it displays dates in a format determined by local (user's) settings.
4. My understanding of what you have done is that you have trampled all over the article imposing US date formats, contrary to local practice and reverting my earlier work.

Dates in the Philippines are mostly in MDY when written in English. See this certificate of candidacy for example, and the Philippine Star website, Manila Bulletin website and the Business Mirror website (Philippine Daily Inquirer's are DMY, for some reason). Therefore, your points one and two actually mean that the date formats should've been MDY all along. I don't have strong feelings on {{date}}, so you can reapply that, and as for your 4th point, this is a Wiki, it's natural for your work to be changed. –HTD 15:05, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

2013 local elections in the Philippines.

It's not so much the size of the electorate, it's the significance which gets me. These elections are for city councils, barangay captains and the like. At least Saddleworth (where I had a girlfriend a long time ago)(Delph anyway) was for national representation as an MP, and as such the same level of importance as any other MP. Added to which I got rather peeved with some messages from an editor who seems to have signed up just two days ago.

Hmmmm. I'm of the opinion that it has something to do with population, and how other countries structure their election articles. I guess the Saddleworth example was a wrong one. A sorta good analogy would be the Oldham Council election, 2012. Unlike Navotas local elections, 2013, which has info on all local elections in that place (from the mayor to the city council; no barangay captains, they might be elected on October), Oldham Council election, 2012 is only about the city council election per se (that said, do the councillors elect the chief executive?). Navotas has a population of 249,000, while the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham has 225,000. Both elections are held with several other elections on the same day. In other words, they're pretty much the same.

Anyway, there's a discussion at WP:WPE&R precisely on what happened. Take a look there. –HTD 16:36, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Unfamiliar to politics in Luton, there should be something else to write about that: why did Labour gain so many seats? Is it lining up to be a reflection of Luton's representation in the UK parliament, where Labour have dominated since 1997? What caused the Lib Dem's fall in votes, in the wake that they were about to challenge Labour in the council? They were not able to challenge Labour though in Westminster elections (they've consistently ranked third). Was this (the fall of the Lib Dem vote in the council elections) because all of the blame of the coalition's woes fell upon them? I think Meralco and TNT cannot be labeled yet with the w's since Meralco still has a game to go and TNT has 2, one of those happening today. I know that y will be given to teams with 10 wins and x will be given to teams with 7 wins. Both of them have 6 wins, so they can clinch the Top 6. It would be wrong giving the w to three teams. No shit Sherlock!!!!!!!!! Since you know f all about footy, you probably just found that out very recently and are trying to show your supposed football knowledge by trying to tell me and everybody else that "it means football club". LOL!!! The club isn't simply known as "Global". By putting "F.C." like the majority of football club pages, it should be piped as "Global". It's "Global FC", just as it also is on the frickin club logo. But of course you wouldn't know that because you know f all about footy!! So why don't you just stay the f away from football related articles and stick to your politics!! It's quite fitting as well... you being into politics that is because you act just like a typical Filipino politician, perhaps like a celeb being a wannabe politician. You get into things you know f all about but still go on and try to show people that you know what your doing because you think you could be of some difference when in fact you're not and just make things worse!! FWIW, it's "Global" on TV scoreboards and not "Global FC". The Philippine Daily Inquirer doesn't use "Global FC", instead using "Global", in one of its articles. Thus, it is perfectly valid to refer to the team as "Global".

And your club logo argument is invalid since Leeds United is at Leeds United A.F.C. instead of "LUFC".

To find the percentage of city councilors (or provincial board members), divide the number of votes to the number of people who actually voted. Do not use the percentage displayed on the COMELEC website as it divides on all votes cast. You can use the percentages for single winner and party-list elections though.

To find the percentage of valid votes, add all of the votes of the candidates, then divide the sum to the number of votes to the number of people who actually voted.

To find invalid votes, subtract the number of people who actually voted to the sum all of the votes of the candidates. To get the percentage, divide total invalid votes from the number of people who actually voted.

Don't forget to multiply the percentages to 100.

Unless the use of colors is regulated by law, I don't think it has to be "official" to be used. With that said, most sources (or the sources must seem to have consensus) must use that color to be used to denote a particular candidate to be used in the article. –HTD 19:12, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Depends. If sources assign a particular color to a candidate, and if most sources agree on that color, you may use that. If someone disagrees, I'd say a candidate explicitly saying he has no official color should have more weight, unless the sources are near unanimous in agreement. –HTD 19:19, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Our basis should be reliable third party sources. For example, AFAIK, the Republican Party doesn't have red as its sole "official" color, but practically all sources consistently use that color to identify the GOP. Great work on your map (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2013_elections.png) but need to advise you that it needs updating. Kuwait holds legislative elections on July 27, 2013 and it would make your map updated and more accurate if your blue color code was added to Kuwait's location.

china is clearly qualified, please leave it alone. in your three way tie scenario they would have a goal average well above 1, which makes it impossible to be last amongst three teams. the tie breaking rules have assured them of at least 3rd

Since China's goal average, amonst the tied teams that you indicate, is already determined, and their goal average is above 1, then it is absolutely impossible for them to be third out of three teams. You were plenty clear, let me make this even simpler for you, I cannot understand why you don't get this. In China's games against KOR and MAS they have scored 172 and have had 85 points scored against them. If they finish in a three way tie with KOR and MAS those will be the numbers used right? How the hell will they be third out of those three teams when they have scored almost 90 more then they have given up? If only the scores of the teams involved count in the tie breaker, than the total points for and the total points against from the three teams must equal each other---so if China is +87, one of the other two is going to have to be minus, and have a GA of less than 1. The Necessity of mentioning the Metro and stating it's total population

Hello there. I'm just here to defend my editions concerning Manila. If you look at other Capital Cities. Mexico City, Beijing, Cairo and etc. You would observe that literally. The Capital City is by de facto, the Metro area. Furthermore, they mentioned the full population of the city i.e. Mexico City (Including it's sub-cities) totals 8.84 million, Beijing 20 Million and Cairo, 6.76 million (In each case, they even have a metro article to supplement the main article however, the metro info is still the primary material in the main article).

When I was futilely editing the Manila to conform to the universal standard, I was already making huge understatements when I didn't equate Manila with the Metro itself (As what the universal standard demands) rather I only related it. Likewise, I mentioned the Metro's total population (As the Universal Standard demands) but I didn't do so comprehensively. I'm so sorry but im really just updating OUR article according to the standard. That's why we really need, (As only a miniscule step to this), to relate the Metro to the city and mention the metro's whole population.

If my previous editions were redundant then I am sincerely sorry for doing that and I will work on a more streamlined version. Nevertheless, at least now, I hope you understand the rationale over why I edited those that way. Thank You very much.

There was a sentence about the metro already on the lead. What you did was make two almost redundant sentences, the difference is that the second sentence has a badly capitalized "12 Million". –HTD 04:04, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
