Conflicts of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Howdens3. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.SovalValtos (talk) 12:25, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

September 2019[edit]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Howdens Joinery, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. SovalValtos (talk) 05:16, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Howdens Joinery. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. {{ping|waddie96}} {talk} 10:07, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Howdens3. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Howdens Joinery, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

@Howdens3: You must respond to the above {{ping|waddie96}} {talk} 10:09, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The entry has been edited to be more factual and remove any sections that could be deemed as not having a 'neutral point of view'. The entry is based on the Howdens Superbrands article, which we have permission to use. I have added a sentence to cite this. External links have been removed. I work for Howdens Joinery and am simply trying to bring a very outdated page entry up to date. Many thanksHowdens3 (talk) 10:28, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is helpful that you have disclosed that you work for the company. However it does not explain 17 instances of failure to comply with the conflicts of interest policy. Also, before I restore properly sourced information on failures of health and safety compliance, it would be helpful to understand why you have removed this material as well. If you / the company continue to ignore our guidelines you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. Dormskirk (talk) 19:43, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have added some of the factual statements that you removed back into the article, now with independent sources cited rather than referencing the company's annual reports. I have not added the remaining content that conflicts with Wikipedia's conflicts of interest policy, and have not included the information on health and safety compliance, as this was not in our article before. I hope this is satisfactory. Thank you Howdens3 (talk) 08:46, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The point is that you should not be editing if you are an employee. And you you cannot just whitewash the company's health and safety record. Dormskirk (talk) 08:54, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
