Personality Dispute[edit]

It is really annoying to me that you feel to add your sarcasm to every comment regarding something. Telling me that "little tiny detail" would mean microbes and such is just simply to get on the editors nerves, and the irony really isn't needed. You simply try to find everything against a person and use it to your advantage. It really needs to stop, it's weak and it's something you really as an adult need to ease up on. I'm sure you do not go out in the world with that type of attitude, because it most surely will not get you far. Please, keep your negativity and sarcasm to yourself.--Golich17 23:42, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for the good advice[edit]

I just wanted to thank you once again for all the good advice you gave me when you welcomed me to Wikipedia. I'm up to 350 edits now and enjoying all the wonderful tricky stuff there is on here.

Thanks again for pointing me towards all those articles that are helpful to newbies like me. It was really interesting to find out all the clever stuff you can do with Template:Convert and Wikipedia:Citation templates and I hope I'm learning fast.

With your assumed permission, I've also today welcomed another newbie to Wikipedia that I think has a Singapore interest judging by the Miss Singapore Universe article she contributed towards. I hope you don't mind me using a modification of the template you put on my taLK page...

I've also contributed to the debate at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (text formatting) and I am watching with interest your "battles" at Singapore Airlines.

Thanks again for all your good advice and assistance both now and in the future! Alice.S 02:14, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore Airlines Fleet Section[edit]

In an effort to keep the table in a more simple, efficient manner, I removed the class codes, registration numbers, and engine type because they are all listed in Singapore Airlines fleet. Removing these would keep the basic, straight-forward information available, while not making the table intrusive as to size. I did not revert your reverts of my edits, so don't worry, no need to run there and revert anything.--Golich17 22:23, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See Talk:Singapore_Airlines#Article_Layout for my response.--Huaiwei 01:44, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore Airlines awards and accolades[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Singapore Airlines awards and accolades, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Oo7565 06:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed this template as I believe it was placed out of process - it is NOT to be used for articles that have already survived an AfD and, in any case, the "sources" for this article include the publications and institutions typically listed in the first column of the table. (I'm beginning to think that there is a bit of an "anti-Singapore Brigade" in action... Alice.S 08:27, 30 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alice.S (talkcontribs)

Duplication, omissions and ambiguities ...[edit]

A few comments:

  • Have you noticed that the contents of the Tiger Airways Australia destinations page are basically a duplication of the information in the "Route Announcements" subsection at Tiger Airways Australia#History? I'm not sure what purpose this duplication serves.
  • Neither that table nor this page address fares particularly well.
  • ALL of these destinations are flights from/to Melbourne ONLY. e.g. Although both Alice Springs and Darwin are destinations, you can't fly from Alice Springs to Darwin (without going via Melbourne).

Pdfpdf 10:14, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I do agree that that huge table looks really out of place. I arent sure who changed it into a table, but I think the information was pre-existing. Will need an overhaul or something. I am considering creating a much smaller table somewhat similar to this, but highlighting the price wars as a result of each announcement. Will work on that later, but meanwhile, I think it might be prudent to clean that table up.--Huaiwei 10:57, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mea culpa!! (I created the table.) But I agree with you: "that huge table looks really out of place". What was there previously was very hard to read/analyse; the table is easier to read/analyse, but as you say, looks out of place. If you can improve it, Please do - you have my blessing.

But that wasn't my point. My point was the duplication of information in what was two sections, and is now two pages. I think the answer is ONE table which shows ALL of the information, (i.e. the routes, the fares, the announcement dates, the service commencement dates, etc.), but I don't want to stomp on anyone's toes. Kindly bring this discussion to the article talkpage. I do not see a need to actually get your permission before contributing anything in wikipedia.--Huaiwei 05:55, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe your missing the point i am not asking for permission i am asking to view it before you do MAJOR changes to a page what you have done so far is fine no complaints. Sparrowman980 06:27, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First and foremost, kindly define a "major change", because what you consider major may hardly be so to others. I personally do not consider my change as major. Second, your demands to see my changes before I can submit them points to no better motive than your desire to "approve" any "major change". This is a classic case of asserting article ownership, and I will not entertain any such requests.--Huaiwei 09:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion for the ERP and ALS articles[edit]

Before working a bit on the ERP article (to include some references, the planning and evolution of the system, some specific numeric results, etc.), I decided to improve first the Singapore Area Licensing Scheme, adding some more info and references. Since you have been so interested in the ERP article, I would like you to take a look at ALS, and edit any mistake I might inadvertently made, since I never visited Singapore, though I am very familiarized with demand management in your country (as I told you, it is the textbook case for urban transportation professionals). Also, that edit is an example of the what I am planning to do for the ERP article, and much of the reference are the same (actually, there are some more). Please if you find anything controversial, let me know on my user page and let's talk it over on the ALS Talk page. Thanks.Mariordo (talk) 07:37, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oddball date format[edit]

I've left the following comment at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports:

"I realise that American English is the lingua franca of the airline world, but why was it thought necessary by this project to disregard the advice given at Wikipedia:DATE#Autoformatting and linking with regard to wikilinking dates, please?

This may slightly irritate some of our logged on readers that have different date preferences set, but, more importantly, leads to constant tinkering by editors that may be familiar with our Manual of Style in general but not this project's edict in particular.

I think you guys should at least add your local exception to the page I reference above!"

Changes to list of tallest buildings in Singapore[edit]

Hi Huaiwei. I have noted some changes made by you to the list of tallest buildings in Singapore. This includes the adding of a picture column, and the shifting of some images. I would agree that is indeed a noble effort. And if you look at featured lists on tallest buildings, such as San Francisco and Dubai, you would notice that the pictures are not part of the table, but individually standing on the right.

I would suggest that the 'Picture' column be scraped off. Instead, we could use the conventional way to placing pictures as thumbs on the right. Thank you. Angcr (talk) 09:14, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Angcr that the page should look like other such pages, but I think that the current look is better because it shows more buildings. I know the format is wrong, but you can see more images this way and they are lined up with the names, which saves redundant descriptions next to the pictures. I think this format is better. Still, I made the images bigger so that they could actually be seen and differentiated.DaronDierkes (talk) 08:05, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of airlines of the People's Republic of China[edit]

Hey there my old arch-nemesis, haha, just a quick note in regards to List of airlines of the People's Republic of China. I, as well as yourself, no doubt, don't want to get into an edit war or the like on this article, so what I am proposing is that the article be left in the form in which I wrote it, and we can discuss it at WP:AIRLINES, so that we can involve the entire project. This way we can have everyone reading off the same page. If an agreement can't be reached on the project page, then we can look at other avenues, but I sincerely hope that we can reach an agreement and concensus as a group. Can we both agree to that? Cheers mate --Russavia (talk) 17:46, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bugger, I forgot to mention that I will start the section on the airline project page, and have already started writing up info on what my viewpoint is as well as what your viewpoint is (feel free to correct me if I misinterpret what I will write there of course), so please just wait until my 'thread' appears, it shouldn't be too long ok. Cheers --Russavia (talk) 17:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Can I ask is if it is also your personal opinion that Hong Kong and Macau are too be included in these lists, or is this a position you take due it being the way that Chinese articles seem to be done? Would be good to know, so that I can think about a few things. :) Cheers --Russavia (talk) 18:51, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, the other thing I forgot to ask for, in this edit, you mention Chinese conventions. I have looked for them, but can't be sure if I have found the right ones. Could you possibly point me in the right direction and shoot me over a link to them. Cheers --Russavia (talk) 19:01, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Airport[edit]

The flag is rep. the airport itself, not country. It is not necessary to politise everything in wiki. Pls pay attention to the title of the column, it printed as "airport". Coloane (talk) 13:26, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My point is: if you change the title of airport to country on that table, then you did the right job. It means I don't object you change to PRC flag. Coloane (talk) 13:32, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look over the title of that table, it printed as "airport", not country. Coloane (talk) 13:37, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So both of us already broke 3RR. Do you want to esclate it? Coloane (talk) 13:38, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Reason already explained very clearly. The title of that table from that specific col. is AIRPORT, not COUNTRY. Coloane (talk) 13:40, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You don't know what imprudence is. Your malicious and evil motivation simply reflect your national education didn't give you what the basic idea of good faith is. Coloane (talk) 14:08, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
