Property tax

Hwaxman, glad to have you editing! Welcome to Wikipedia. I wanted to point to a few policies that I think would improve your writing and help your changes stay in the article without other editors removing them. See above for Verifiability • Citing sources • No original research • Neutral point of view • Reliable sources. For example, your latest edit was "A very important benefit of a tax on property over a tax on income is that the revenue always equals the tax levy. Unlike income or sales taxes, which can result in shortfalls producing deficits, the property tax always produces the required revenue for municipalities." How do I know this is true? What is the source? Is this a point of view or fact? Also, it is a global encyclopdia so keep that in mind when wording - try to avoid terms like "we". Just thought I'd offer assistance as I do not want you to get discouraged if editors keep reverting your additions. Morphh ^(talk) 02:44, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Help with editing

One of your most recent edits was reverted because you added your signature to the article; while this is de rigeur on talk pages, it is not done in articles.

I misunderstood the directions

Some of your other edits were reverted because they violated Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, which requires articles to be unbiased; your additions contained such phrases as "Is it any wonder it is one of, if not the most hated tax in the United States" and "Always ignored is the unfair distribution." If you state your ideas as impartial facts and cite reliable sources (Economist John Q. Public argues that this distribution is unfair.<link to newspaper article>), they will likely be kept. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
