Hiya[edit]

The admin userfied the deleted articles to my namespace. Feel free to edit there or copy and paste to your own space to work on improving them. Any articles about players will need to have adequate citations to meet WP:GNG. Off hand, Kealia Ohai should be pretty easy to do this for with various ESPN articles about her, etc. If there are not many citations to support an article and the player has not yet played a game in the NWSL or other top-tier women's league, I'd recommend holding off on publishing the article until she does play or adequate citations can be added to the article.

If you'd like any help working on the articles to help ensure they don't get deleted by some of the WP:Footy members who seem to love doing that, just post a message to the task force talk page. This may also be handy if any articles get pushed for deletion and additional viewpoints are requested at a deletion discussion aside from the 5-7 deletion-happy folks. The more people on the women's football taskforce that can help improve articles so that they meet the WP:GNG and who are kept aware when articles get pushed for deletion, the better. User:Clavdia chauchat is also a long-time contributor who has done a ton of great work on football/soccer articles that may be able to provide assistance along with some of the other members of the women's football taskforce.

Thanks for all of your good work!

Thanks! I'll work on expanding them where they are. And when it looks like they are ready and the player notable enough, then they can be moved back. I-miss-carm (talk) 01:04, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for January 25[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2014 NWSL College Draft, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ellen Parker (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sam Mewis[edit]

Maybe she'll get her first cap tonight? Noticed you have a draft article on the Woso Wiki - very cool. Let me know if you'd like any help getting it ready for the wiki mainspace. There are plenty of articles on her for WP:GNG like 1, 2, 3 for starters. Hmlarson (talk) 22:47, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to add to it if you'd like and/or even copy paste it to the new article if she gets a cap tonight. I won't be able to watch the game live, so I won't be able to do anything until late this evening/early next morning. I-miss-carm (talk) 00:50, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I decided to post it into my user space, so if you want to, edit it there and move it if she gets capped. I-miss-carm (talk) 01:06, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As the article stands now, it meets WP:GNG criteria and can be published to the mainspace. I'll leave it for you to do (when you're ready) so you get the deserved credit for creating the article.Hmlarson (talk) 23:00, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Sam Mewis is published. Thanks for your help expanding it. I-miss-carm (talk) 23:35, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: August 2017

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO?

According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017.

What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome.

Recent developments

New initiatives have been created for:

  • FA WSL (England's top-division league)
  • NCAA (American university teams, conferences, etc.)
  • W-League (Australia's top-division league)
Ongoing tournaments
Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues
Did you know?

While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}.

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Did you know ...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in 1 active women's league)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Hello WOSO editors! What a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France! There has been a lot of activity on tournament- and player-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of the tournament and its players. Let's keep the momentum going.

WOMEN IN SPORTS EDIT-A-THON FOR JULY + AUGUST!

WikiProject Women in Red is focusing on Women in Sports during their edit-a-thon for July & August 2019.

Get all the info here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/126

Sign up and help fill in the gaps within various articles related to women's football / soccer - whether they be players, teams, leagues, historical, administrators, referees, etc. Every little bit helps. Be sure to tag your article talk pages with {{WIR-126}}.

These edit-a-thons are a great way to work with others to help bridge the gender gaps on Wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions!

Hello WOSO editors!

What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?

Historical Topics
Managers
Teams
Players
Other

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/FA WSL to collaborate and organize with other editors.

Every little bit helps! Thanks for your contributions!
