Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from an article. Please be more careful when editing articles and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Please note that Wikipedia is not a directory or an indiscriminate collection of information, many of your edits simply add far far too much information and will be reverted as they have been by myself and others. Fraslet 17:42, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please please take part in some discussion about your changes to the Kirkcaldy article. Wikipedia is not a directory or an indiscriminate collection of information, many of your edits simply add far far too much information which is unencyclopedic and they are decreasing the quality of the article as a whole. Fraslet 22:31, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Falkirk[edit]

Please note that Wikipedia is not a directory or an indiscriminate collection of information and certainly not intended to provide directions, I see that you have started to add this kind of information to the Falkirk article and would certainly question if this information is necessary or even encyclopedic. St. John's Shopping Centre[edit]

Hi, I'm sorry, but I read your contesting of the deletion of the St. John's Shopping Centre article, but I found the article to lack enough of an assertion of notability to stay as an article. You can read WP:CSD#A7 for the policy on that. Basically, an article must explain why its subject is different from any other shopping center, professor, library, or whatever the article is about. Leave me a message on my talk page if you have any questions or want to discuss anything. delldot | talk 01:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, what's up. Got your note. Sorry, I'm really slow on the uptake and I couldn't figure out if you were being sarcastic or not. If not, great, everyone's happy, if you were, you probably want to discuss the deletion more, right? Anyway, if that's the case let me know and we can figure something out. Peace, delldot | talk 02:19, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thanks for your kind note! I'm still a brand new admin and I guess I'm afraid of people getting mad at me. So I'm really glad you replied and handled everything so maturely. Anyway, see you around! Let me know if you ever need anything or want to discuss anything! Peace, delldot | talk 15:06, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Glasgow Fort[edit]

An editor has nominated Glasgow Fort, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Glasgow Fort and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Jayden54Bot 18:46, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear! I should have made alterations to my work, before this would occur, i knew this "could" have happened - and it did!

Since this is my work, i will allow the nominator to be free to delete this and it will be accepted flly by me.

Thanks for getting in touch, nevertheless

  • As I mentioned in the AfD discussion, you don't need permission to add information about Glasgow Fort in Easterhouse -- just start writing. (See Wikipedia:Be bold in updating pages. It would probably fit in well in the "Amenities" section. As an aside, totally unrelated to this deletion, some of the listed buildings like Provanhall and Blairtummock House would make interesting articles. I like to read articles about historic preservation.) --Elkman (Elkspeak) 14:57, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You'll have noticed I've made some edits to this article, which has largely been written by you. I'd like to clarify why I made these edits and to make some suggestions. Much of the text was rather confusing. From tracing the edit history, I notice that you often add new text to sentences in a way which changes their meaning or to sentences which are really about other matters. This sometimes makes them ambiguous, unclear or even meaningless. In other words, what you have added may make sense in itself but in the context it has been inserted it may be confusing. It's always a good idea to click on the Show preview button and then to read the full context (so not just the edit itself) - i.e. the full sentence, paragraph or even the whole article, especially if it's a large edit. This also helps you to see if you've made typos, spelling mistakes or broken links. You will know what you mean by your edit but think about what a person who doesn't know about the subject would think if they read it in its context. Also, with new edits added the sentences can become very long and this can also make them confusing. Lastly, take another look at the suggestions given to you already regarding Wikipedia not being a directory or an indiscriminate collection of information. All the best. Mutt Lunker 13:02, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are continuing to make edits to the article in the way that I've mentioned above. Please read the full sentence which includes the second part of your latest edit. It makes no obvious sense, so I can only guess what you might mean and am thus not able to rephrase or clarify it with any confidence. That is why I removed it. Mutt Lunker 23:52, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, i find this "very" difficult and my grammer, i know is it the greatest. I "can't" clarify sentences properly and have a touch of asperger's, so trying to pharse them as well as using repetitve language, i'm not exactly very happy. Lunker, you're going to have to help me with this article over this.

The other thing is there is NO website about The Mercat, so i can not provide links, like what others have been able to do with The Kingdom Centre in Glenrothes. Since Wikipedia is heavily obbessed about references from books/other sites etc, then they are not pleased about this.

I understand that i have to be careful, not to submit an indiscriminate collection of information, if it not neccessary. I might have abused this, a bit, but go look at other shopping centre articles like County Square, Ashford and shops aglore are mentioned. How come, is this getting away with it, when my article suffers? I don't know?

I originally put this info. in Kirkcaldy, but my mention of the shopping centre caused a bit of fuss, at what i was submitting, they were angry because i had extended the article over other submittions i had made and they preferred what was in Dunfermline and Glenrothes. That is why, there is a seperate article with a linkage to Kirkcaldy. I would have put this in Kirkcaldy, but they didn't want it there. They allow Glenrothes Town Centre to have their stuff and because i live near Glenrothes, i've "never" been satisfied with their town centre and don't think much of new towns.......

I could destroy this article and put the majority back where it belongs.

What's your suggestion and where, am i going wrong with this?

I. Thomson 09:23, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Ian, what you say about "Wikipedia (being) heavily obbessed about references" is one way of looking at it but that is the policy of Wikipedia. If it's not what is regarded as notable then it shouldn't be included I'm afraid. In which case, a suggestion might be that in addition to you carrying on doing writing for Wikipedia but which is compliant with policy, maybe there is another internet forum where you could also write articles on the same topics but in the way you would really like to and with the level of detail that you like. I simply don't know if there is one but we might be able to get help finding out.
In regard to spelling, grammar, construction of sentences etc. I'm not sure what I can add to what I've said already but again, maybe we can get help. I often find it quite hard to understand what you've written, in which case I can't rephrase it and am only left with the option of deleting it.
Maybe it's time we asked some advice from someone more experienced. Did you know that you can put {{helpme}} on your talk page if you want help with something? Or if you'd like me to, I could put a request on my own talk page as to how I can help you. Would you like me to do that? Mutt Lunker 10:28, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lunker, can you do that for me? Thank you.

I. Thomson 22:17, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ian. I got some advice on my own talk page. Firstly there is a "[[Category:Aspergian Wikipedians]] for the over 200 Wikipedians who self-identify as having Asperger syndrome." You can add yourself to that category by adding {{user aspie}} to your talk page. Another suggestion is "to use cleanup tags on (your) own contributions". I've now posed some questions on the administrator's noticeboard too. Mutt Lunker 16:50, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've got another idea. You can request "adoption" by another user by adding {{Adoptme}} to your userpage. Have a look at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User to see if you think that would be helpful. Mutt Lunker 13:14, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alex Salmond[edit]

Hi, you seem to be adding to quite a few articles that Alex Salmond is First Minister, this is untrue. There will be no First Minister elected until Parliament sits. Kanaye 20:05, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ooops! i only found out last night! a coalition if needed, must be agreed by the 30th May. i won't worry about it, but i did make a bit of mess on the page though, which i apologise for.

St Giles Centre[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article St Giles Centre, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of St Giles Centre. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
