Regarding Username BarkleyGrow

I have read the terms and conditions of Wikipedia and do not feel that my username is in direct conflict with its policies. As there is no company named "BarkleyGrow" or is there likely ever to be a company with that name. My choice to use this name comes from my personal connection with the former company (closed since the late 40s) and is used to represent my work tied directly to the preservation of the history of Captain Grow and Mr Barkley. I am a active voluteer with the Calgary Areospace Museum. The museum holds two of the remaining three T8P-1 aircraft left in the world.

I hope this resolves the issue.

Many thanks.

Thank you for the info, i do have a question. How do i put the main picture up and fill in the info that appears below it like date of birth and such?Larado1026 (talk) 01:07, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

You upload a free cultured licensed (that is, something anyone can modify, distribute, or make money off of) picture to Wikimedia Commons, a sibling website to Wikipedia (You already have an account there!), and add it to the article on Wikipedia by putting [[File:Filenamehere.Fileformathere]] wherever you want it.
And you also probably want an infobox. I think you want "Infobox musical artist", which you can copy and paste from here. --I dream of horses (T) @ 01:34, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
My Article was deleted before i was able to put all the information onto the page. What makes a singer notable so that maybe i can put that iformation on the page first so it doesn't get deleted. Why is my daughter's friend Alisha Newton's article not deleted yet if mine is?Larado1026 (talk) 02:47, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
Your daughter's friends' article wasn't deleted because she is on this side of being significant enough to avoid speedy deletion. However, that is not an article you want to aspire to. It is very poorly referenced, particularly for a person who is still living.
Again, you might want to use Articles for Creation next time. --I dream of horses (T) @ 03:13, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the welcome

I recently edited the Motor City Pride article to tag it as a copyright violation, and by looking at the internet archive (https://web.archive.org/web/20121120125934/http://www.motorcitypride.org/category/event-history/) the offending material pre-dates the Wikipedia article content. The template which replaced the content suggests editing the talkpage of the user who posted the material, however, I am slightly uncomfortable posting the form letter/template to his page, as I am an anonymous user with only a few edits, and he is an active user whose user page seems to indicate that he has some clout in the community. What is the proper way to deal with this? Thanks. --23.28.84.205 (talk) 06:26, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Don't worry, I just removed the copyright violation, and told the editor to not reinsert it. Feel free to come back if he does. --I dream of horses (T) @ 07:01, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Yes you found errors

Yes you found errors, but your two fixes where the wrong ones. For example you broke the harv link between short and long citations, and you second fix removed information which would have been preserved if you changed the parameter from year to date. Why did you choose the options that you did. Was it because you are running a script and that is what it did without manual intervention, or did you make the changes by hand? -- PBS (talk) 12:03, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Well, usually the way I corrected the first error was the correct way of doing so, and I thought maybe it was "year" instead of "date" for a good reason. --I dream of horses (T) @ 17:49, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
I don't see how removing everything from two square brackets to the end of the template usually be the correct solution if the rest includes a pipe symbol because that means you are removing other parameters. As to the second one, I suppose that your solution was a fail safe. Anyway I fix both of them. so I will not take up any more of your time. -- PBS (talk) 18:01, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Firstly, you will need to announce that you are a part of A Day Without Hate on your userpage. Problem re: an edit you made with WPCleaner

Hi Emily, a while back you made this edit to the Ronold W. P. King article using WPCleaner. However, the problem you fixed was caused by vandalism in the previous edit, which hadn't been undone. I've cleaned the problem up, but I'm just letting you know in case you find something like this in the future. Also, I've fixed a grammatical error in your talk page header; hope you don't mind. I believe I am getting better at identifying vandalism found by WPcleaner, so I can open up Chrome to revert it. Mistakes like this should decrease in the future.
No worries about making minor edits to my talk page header. Thanks. I dream of horses (T) @ 18:38, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

I don't understand

More times than I can remember, I've come across a page on the error list Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting right after you've been there. In this case it was Bruce Nauman. It's only 8 am where I am so the day is young. Yesterday several. You seem to take a page at random, even though there is nothing wrong with it, then insert or remove an open or close ref tag, then walk away without checking. I don't understand. I don't actually understand how anyone can make an edit to a page and not notice the Big red error message screaming at them. -- Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Thu 08:01, wikitime= 00:01, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

I use cleaner, which doesn't show the big red error message. However, this is the first time that a human has alerted me to a mistake I've made, and I don't see how I could've caused an error yesterday, seeing how I didn't edit at all. --I dream of horses (T) @ 00:25, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Potential abuse of Wiki Page

Morning,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place / incorrect contact!

I have joined, because I have noticed that a group called the sky blues trust have hijacked the coventry city wiki page!

My understanding was that you weren't allowed to include yourself on any wiki page and has to be independently included!

Well there amendment was entered by one of their board members, and thus contravenes the guidelines as far as I am aware!

Certainly considering their size and importance, they certainly do not deserve such coverage that they have given themselves!

Sure they possibly deserve a mention, but they have included their entire manifesto! Surely if they were THAT important, they could set up a separtte wiki page and link to it from the coventry city page!

I mean this group hasn't as of march 2015 sorted out it's accounts for years! I think it is a disgraceful abuse of Wiki to self promote! As an admin, surely you agree that it is wrong to allow them to self promote!

I hope you agree with me and remove the offending portion! SUre they have some relevance, but as I said, how does quoting their mission statement merit mention for Coventry City?

I look forward to the amendments!

Cheers PM --PSGM69 (talk) 05:35, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

The page seems to have been deleted three times; once by RHaworth and twice by Gogo Dodo. All three times were because of a lack of significance. In other words, you didn't state why Justin Chang should have his own Wikipedia page in any capacity whatsoever. Making a Public Library Notable

I am trying to make our library recognizable as a "thing" on the Internet, and was thinking a Wikipedia article would help identify us to search robots.

I see other libraries in Wikipedia, but I'm not sure what is making them notable, unless its size and or ties to an academic institution?

Please advise.

Thanks

Murraylibrarian (talk) 20:24, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

The problem is that Wikipedia is supposed to be an editable, online encyclopedia that happens to rank highly on Google, not something you use to make someone or something a "thing" on the internet.
Generally, if your library is notable, someone not being paid by the library--probably a patron--will write the article on their own, completely unprompted. It might take a few years, but it'll happen eventually. However, if you want to look at our sourcing, notability, and conflict of interest guidelines, I will list them below:

I completely understand, but in all honesty, you would make a good admin. Viriditas (talk) 21:19, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi again!

You offered me good advice before and I think I am getting a better understanding of what is expected in a Wiki article. Can you please take a look at this draft page and tell me if these links are considered "good sources?" They are just dropped on my page right now because in case they are not good citings I didn't want to do a lot of work. Thanks so much for your help! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Nate_Cunningham — Preceding unsigned comment added by Imaneditortoo (talkcontribs) 17:11, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Generally, an ideal source would be something that is fact-checked by at least one other person than its' creator. An exception can be made to cite non-controversial information that few people will doubt (someones' age, or inspiration for writing or creating something, etc.). I see a lot of blogs in those links, and blogs tend not to be fact checked. So they are, most likely, not going to be very helpful.
One link (http://tube.majestyc.net/?v=Lx8swIOPvSY) didn't work.
The rest seem to be events that Nate Cunningham participated in. My personal opinion is that these sources aren't independent of Nate. It would be helpful if someone not participating in those events (a newspaper reporter, perhaps?) have written about them. --I dream of horses (T) @ 21:53, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

I just wanted to tell someone that when you Google the country Palau, Wikipedia says that its CONTINENT is Oceania... Oceania is not a continent... I don't know how to edit it. I could not find where it was located :(

So correct it.
You don't to give me kittens to get me to reply, by the way. I dream of horses (T) @ 21:40, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

A kitten for you!

Hugill Civil Parish

Hello,

Sorry for any inconvenience, however I do not fully agree with the changes that you have made to the Hugill Civil Parish Article. You have stated that the work I have retrieved is too much like a 'travel guide' but the editing of this article is for an educational institution. My project concerns the stages of development that Hugill has undertaken and I believe the information I found was relevant to this particular parish. Could you indicate the areas that needs to be improved. This will be much appreciated as it will aid the development of the Article. I will undo the changes you have made and attempt to make it more relevant to the aim of the project.

Thank you for your input. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaipreetburji (talkcontribs) 17:37, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

I think you mean to talk to Fennler. --I dream of horses (T) @ 20:55, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Removal of page Nikhil Buduma

It was brought to my attention, and contains material about me. I'd really appreciate if you could remove this page, as I neither meet the notability guidelines of wikipedia nor do I appreciate the slanderous pasting of highly disputed gossip content. Thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nkbuduma (talkcontribs) 22:32, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

@Nkbuduma: Unfortunately for you, deletion is a little harder than you (or a lot of other people!) would expect. There is a discussion started by Joseph2302 here. Feel free to contribute. --I dream of horses (T) @ 22:36, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello friend, may i know why you deleted my contribution to wiki. You may visit my talk page, i.e., 253634s. 253634s (talk) 03:27, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
I deleted your contribution because it wasn't sourced. --I dream of horses (T) @ 03:30, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello!

Hello, thank you for the welcome, sorry for the inconvenience, in Wikipedia Portuguese I was creating an template about "anime and manga", based on the english template, and my browser inadvertently gave error, and without intention had clicked in "Save page", sorry for the inconvenience. I like also contribute in various Wikipedias languages, and I never write portuguese here, or any Wikipedia that is not the Portuguese language, except for that error of my browser! Ouch.

Hi! I think you might have come down a little hard on this new editor with the multiple spam warnings. They were pretty much just following the precedent on a page that probably does need a little EL cleanup, but the edits appear to be very much in good faith, and the external links are not spam, just maps in PDF format. Also, note that your reverts discarded far more than the external links... maybe you could invite this user to tea or something to balance the impact of being slapped with huggle? --jnkyrdsprkl (talk) 07:49, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

@Junkyardsparkle: Ouch, indeed! I reverted myself and apologized to the user with a cup of tea Wikilove message. --I dream of horses (T) @ 08:16, 28 March 2015 (UTC) (fixed ping template at 08:17, 28 March 2015 (UTC))
Thanks for the consideration. --jnkyrdsprkl (talk) 08:30, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

I apologize for editing the content. I just wanted to add a photo to the review section describing the praise given to the actors. I will make sure that this doesn't happen in the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharma621 (talkcontribs) 22:12, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

@Sharma621: Actually, you didn't add anything when I reverted your edit. You removed things. Don't worry, though, I understand now that it was a mistake. Just try again. --I dream of horses (T) @ 22:24, 28 March 2015 (UTC) (added pung at 22:25, 28 March 2015 (UTC))

The blocking of my IP address

Hi. Someone has blocked my IP address for a week, it would seem. As this is a proxy address I guess it might be appropriate, but seeing as I am the only historical editor under this address, it really does not seem so. Royalmate2 (talk) 02:04, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

@Royalmate2: Barring advanced user rights above and beyond the ability to block users, we cannot prove that you are who you say you are. This is for your privacy, since it uses software that tells what web browser and computer you use, along with your IP address. Besides, we ban open proxies, I think, for much longer than a week, and it looks like you're able to edit, anyways. --I dream of horses (T) @ 02:22, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
That's true, and I cannot prove the identity behind it. Luckily I was able to create this account before the account creation ban was enacted. Royalmate2 (talk) 02:33, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
Also, thanks for the userbox templates. Royalmate2 (talk) 02:33, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
@Royalmate2: It's a good thing you made this account right in the nick of time!
Also, regarding the userboxes, I doubt we're identical to each other religiously and politically, and also, I have a few permissions that someone who is new wouldn't have. Yet, the userboxes you put up are the same as mine, minus the customization of a few and the addition of several language fluency userboxes. I dream of horses (T) @ 02:44, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
