@Sulav K Shetri: That's something that's applied automatically when you have a month old account and 500 edits; however, it's best to value making quality edits over making a lot of edits. --I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 14:23, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

License and helping with file[edit]

Hi, sorry but to need helping. I have taken some many screenshoting of YouTube (see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:ListFiles/Orfiammax) and i don't know to fix the standard of the pages. If you checking, all file are uploaded with a description where I take the screenshot or in discussions page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orfiammax (talkcontribs) 18:56, 8 April 2023 (UTC) In my opinion and I also wrote it in the related pages, this is a free cc by 3.0 license, but if you can or have other more experts do it, adjust the related file pages to conform to the standards I would be grateful. Orfiammax (talk) 18:52, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Orfiammax I think you got that message before you tagged the image. However, if you still feel confused and want to prove that the image is actually cc by 3.0, there's no harm done with emailing proof to the volunteer response team at permissions-en@wikimedia.org. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 18:59, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have read the guidelines I'm not an expert and I don't understand this much, but I believe and I should be right. If you can help me. Anyway thank you for your availability. Only thing is that I hope I haven't violated any copyright laws or regulations. Orfiammax (talk) 19:02, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Orfiammax If you were the one who took the photo, no. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 19:05, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't took this pictures, i am not the author. I have only take a screenshot of a video on YouTube. Example from this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI39uyhNwL0&feature=youtu.be i take two screenshots and uploaded this on Wikipedia because in the description of video say "License Creative Commons Attribution License (reuse permitted)" to link redirect this https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2797468?hl=en&sjid=1237972085051657260-EU . Orfiammax (talk) 19:10, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Orfiammax In that situation, you haven't done anything wrong, but it's pretty best to go ahead and email the volunteer response team to prevent any confusion. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 19:12, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for all. Orfiammax (talk) 19:15, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question from 1ordo (20:59, 8 April 2023)[edit]

hi, so i'm music producer named lordo, i wanted to make myself a page on wiki.. are there any suggestions for this? --1ordo (talk) 20:59, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@1ordo I would recommend you not create any article at the moment, particularly one about yourself, or the people you feel strongly about; most people who've existed aren't ever going to qualify for an article on Wikipedia, anyways. It's probably best that you do the tutorial and suggested edits I've linked in the welcome message I just gave you. However, if you insist on writing about yourself, I strongly advise you go through articles for creation. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:29, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A message from Scrapinpeg[edit]

Hey, thanks for looking at the page I submitted. You declined because several of the sources were links to the webcomic itself, but those were links to examples of the comic that was being described in the article. There isn't any other way to cite such things. Am I missing something? Thanks! Scrapinpeg (talk) 20:46, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Scrapinpeg I'm not suggesting you take away the sources to the webcomic. You'll have to prove notability with independent and reliable sourcing. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:39, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Did you see the cites to Harvard, the ABA, etc? There were a lot of notability cites, I thought. Scrapinpeg (talk) 21:43, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Scrapinpeg Briefly mentioned in Harvard Law and, of course, the ABA isn't an independent source of the awards it hands out. I also see blogs being used as sources. Unfortunately, you thought wrong; here's a brief summary of what I was looking for. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:49, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The ABA award page was only a citation for the existence of the blog, no mention was made of it having won any awards. And had mention been made of it, then that citation would have been necessary.
The citations to the Harvard, the Library of Congress, the Oxford book, the Widener book, and the various academic journals are all the kinds of things you're looking for, and are far more than would be found for most webcomics on Wikipedia. And the links to reviews are to the reviews themselves, such as on BoingBoing and Comics Forge, both reputable sites. What statements were improperly or insufficiently cited? I'm honestly perplexed here. Thank you very much! Scrapinpeg (talk) 22:04, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Scrapinpeg We have over six million articles but our active editing community is in the four digits. This means there are articles that have fallen through the cracks; if you find such an article, the correct action isn't to compare that article to the draft you created, and conclude that your draft is just fine because of more plentiful sourcing. Rather, you should either source the article or nominate it for deletion. A gray-area action would be to search for sources (something you ought to do before deletion, anyways) and add {{sources exist}}; however, you need to be very careful about telling people about that particular tag, since less mature editors like to put it on all their favorite articles. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 22:13, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the feedback, I do appreciate you taking the time to reply. However I still can't figure out what statements need citation that lack a cite.
I also cannot understand why such a webcomic that has not only earned legitimate notable recognition in the field of webcomics, but above and beyond that has gained legitimate recognition in academia and the legal profession, is somehow not worthy of a wikipedia article. What more could a webcomic hope to offer? Scrapinpeg (talk) 23:11, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I hope you are doing well. I decided to write you regarding the sources of the Gray and Sons article. I decided to look at all sources I had, and these are the ones I think are okay for the article.

I really help this all will help us, and we will make it work. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much for your help! Gevorg Ghazaryan (talk) 18:57, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Gevorg Ghazaryan I'm pinging @Sam Kuru, since it would be rude to exclude them from the conversation.
The problem I'm seeing with the sources you're using is that you're using blogs (user-generated content) and sources that are basically Gray and Sons employees talking about Gray and Sons (not independent). If you see these sources used in articles without other sources proving the subject has been independent and reliably noted, those articles need to be nominated for deletion. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 19:13, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Feels like we covered this. 1: local chamber of commerce puffery, 2: Vents is paid placement/blogging, I mean look at he author. 3: Blog, 4: press release, 5: blog. Sam Kuru (talk) 19:19, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So, based on what you said, I can still use these sources in the article if I will have at least one more independent source from somewhere else?--Gevorg Ghazaryan (talk) 22:30, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Gevorg Ghazaryan More like at least three, and more ideally, five sources. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 22:32, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No matter how much information will the source include, I will still need three, even though I will have all those other sources? I thought, based on the rules, we at least need to have one source which will reflect on the information mentioned in the article.--Gevorg Ghazaryan (talk) 22:34, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Gevorg Ghazaryan Pretty much; it's so the draft you created can better survive an articles for deletion discussion. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 22:36, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pathuri Nagabhushanam: View again[edit]

Thank you for time

@Lakshmijourno No. @Bonadea probably figured out something that, for whatever reason, I didn't. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 17:18, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping! Basically, what I see is a lack of independent and secondary sources that talk about him in any detail. A local politician doesn't meet WP:NPOL, so the notability criterion to meet is WP:BASIC, and the sources don't really show that. Best, --bonadea contributions talk 18:20, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply. I will see for more resources and add them or I will request for deletion.
Thank you for the time. Lakshmijourno (talk) 18:42, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Iraqi News Agency (INA)[edit]

Hi, I wanted to creat the page Iraqi News Agency (INA). However, the page was redirected to Mass media in Iraq. I undid the redirect and wrote the content. I do not know if I have done everything correctly or if I should have made a news page for Iraqi News Agency? I would appreciate it if you could please advise me or fix any potential mistakes in terms of I may have made when producing the page. Thank you. Forwiki2 (talk) 21:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Divi Theme - Redirected by I_dream_of_horses[edit]

Newish to Wikipedia contributing. Trying to contribute positively to things that I'm an expert in. You seem to have removed my "Divi Theme" article, and I'm wondering why. I am new to this and explicitly asked for help on the talk page about how I could have made that better. Instead, many hours of research appear to be deleted and without comment. I provided a lot of independent sources (from reputable, 3rd party news outlets in the WordPress space). I expected the page to get warnings on it, but not deleted. I just need to know how to improve things and also how to write in a way that doesn't get erased—a disheartening way to start legitimate involvement with Wikipedia.

There is precedent for the article meeting notability requirements. Elementor is very similar to the Divi theme, though Divi has been around longer and is a bigger company. Also, the Elementor article is more promotional sounding than the one I wrote for Divi. Elementor

There is also an article for a very obscure theme, "AutoTheme". Divi is more widely used by several orders of magnitude than AutoTheme (even in its heyday of use). AutoTheme

It also already appeared on a disambiguation page because it is what is often searched for of things with the same name.

I need answers and want to be put on the right track. I want to be able to use my article (since it was deleted and I didn't save a copy myself) and improve it (because I know it needs to be improved). Divi is notable and worth talking about. My one question would be, should I be writing about the WordPress theme itself or the company behind it? Which is more notable? Writing about the company seemed to be more "promotional," but that was a guess (as I'm new to this). Thechristophermorris (talk) 14:41, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Thechristophermorris I redirected the page for two reasons:
  1. I had concerns over the sourcing
  2. Not many people would search for Divi theme on Wikipedia; they'd look for it on other websites, and wouldn't expect to find it here.
I'm kind of tempted to nominate the autotheme article for deletion. I've added cleanup tags expressing concern over the sourcing. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 00:34, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Re:Sourcing - Some sources were from the company itself (but I only tried to reference truly helpful links from them), but I tried to source from 3rd party WordPress news outlets (Post Status, TheWPMinute) and also included a source to the 2022 State of the Word (Youtube Live stream) hosted by the WordPress.org team and hosted by the co-founder of WordPress. Sure, there could be more sources added, but I figured this would be a snow-ball project for adding sources. Do sources need to be in a particular format (ex. MLA, APA, Chicago)?
Re:WikiSearch - That's an interesting point, but I think Elementor being on Wiki is proof that the major page builders (which hundreds of millions of websites run on) are notable because of their sheer impact. As a WordPress expert, I know that when a new theme hits the market, people are trepidatious about purchasing it or using it if it is free. They want to know 1) is this theme reliable, 2) who develops this theme and can we trust them to continue supporting it, 3) does it have the tools that I need to build a fast and reliable webiste?
Since the Divi theme is one of the longest running WP themes and checks all the other boxes mentioned above, people expect to find reliable information about the product (and not just from the company website).
As for people searching it directly on Wikipedia (via search bar), there is already a disambiguation page (if that is right technical term for it) for that which references this theme, so it must have some interest.
I'm happy to hear your thoughts, I'm convinced that this is an appropriate topic and would love to learn more about what I need to improve on as a new editor. Thechristophermorris (talk) 13:52, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

We need reliable sources that have gone through editorial oversight and aren't affiliated with the subject of the article. It's the source itself that matters.

They want to know 1) is this theme reliable, 2) who develops this theme and can we trust them to continue supporting it, 3) does it have the tools that I need to build a fast and reliable webiste? You really need to stop looking to problematic pages to follow their example. The elementor article has cleanup tags. Because people don't always realize how Wikipedia works (that is, they really can edit the article to improve it), articles like the ones you've been referencing have the potential to backfire in terms of reputation.
Since the Divi theme is one of the longest running WP themes and checks all the other boxes mentioned above, people expect to find reliable information about the product (and not just from the company website). Yeah, there's the company website, there's also review sites, Wordpress forums, etc. You can argue all day long that those sites aren't reliably, but honestly, Wikipedia hasn't always been reliable, either.
As for people searching it directly on Wikipedia (via search bar), there is already a disambiguation page (if that is right technical term for it) for that which references this theme, so it must have some interest. Actually, that doesn't mean people are searching for it on Wikipedia. All that means is that someone added it to a disambiguation page. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 16:26, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
" You can argue all day long" I'm asking humble questions and trying to explain myself clearly. And I've asked several questions. That's hardly arguing nor do I want to. I'm here to learn.
The sources that I mentioned are from outlets with editorial processes (theWPMinute and Post Status).
In my most recent reply to you, I didn't mention the one that you were going to flag and only referenced the Elementor page though I said in my first comment that it had problems. I tried to write my page to a higher level of source-ability than that one, which hasn't been flagged for deletion.
Okay, so change my wording from reliable to "information that attempts to be reliable through crowdsourced sources, writing, and editorial work".
The disambiguation page is merely a signal that it may have already been searched. But it also doesn't prove that it isn't.
Again not arguing. I'm here to learn and you happened to have redirected my original writing. That's it. Wanting to see how I can improve and how I can contribute with the knowledge that I have. Thechristophermorris (talk) 19:03, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Thechristophermorris You're taking the phrasing You can argue all day long out of context. Also, I've already explained the entry on the disambiguation page isn't proof anyone searched for it. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 19:05, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that you have things to do, so I don't expect immediate replies, but replies to everything (when you have the time and energy) would be helpful. Thechristophermorris (talk) 20:15, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've also verified that Wikipedia search volume is not a criteria for Wikipedia:Notability. So the discussion should primarily focus on sources which I'm working on. Thechristophermorris (talk) 20:20, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Thechristophermorris I am replying when I can. Also, I've also verified that Wikipedia search volume is not a criteria for Wikipedia:Notability. So the discussion should primarily focus on sources which I'm working on. is correct. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:30, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fremont Lake moved to draftspace[edit]

May I ask for at least a little delay before moving pages to draftspace? You moved the Fremont Lake page to draft a whole two minutes after creation before I had a chance to copy my text over. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jst4 (talkcontribs) 22:39, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jst4: On the surface, a reasonable request. However, as my rounds of random page patrolling and me moving the article you created back have proven, it's easier to correct a prematurely draftified article than it is to correct an abandoned, unsourced one.
Where are you copying the text from? A sandbox, right? --I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 01:07, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
