WikiCup 2018

So the 2017 WikiCup has come to an end. Congratulations to the winner, to the other finalists and to all those who took part. 177 contestants signed up, more than usual, but not all of them submitted entries in the first round. Were editors attracted by the cash prizes offered for the first time this year, or were these irrelevant? Do the rules and scoring need changing for the 2018 WikiCup? If you have a view on these or other matters, why not join in the WikiCup discussion about next year's contest? New pages patrol

Iazyges I have recently granted WP:New pages patrol right and started to reviewed some of the new pages. I came to notice that with the read up I have done, I was not reviewed some of pages correctly, and would like to seek you as a the mentor to guide me on this subject since you are one of the trainer for this program. Thank you in advance.CASSIOPEIA (talk) 14:36, 23 November 2017 (UTC)

@CASSIOPEIA: Sure thing; can you give me some articles you've tagged incorrectly? -- Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 05:16, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi Iazyges, thank your for agreeing to help me out. Below are some of the diff histories which I believe I tag incorrectly.

[1], [2], [3], [4].

I understand you are one of the New pages reviewer trainer, and I would like to sign up the program under your guidance. Kindly accept my request and thank you. CASSIOPEIA (talk) 12:51, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

@CASSIOPEIA: I accept.
1. For FC Florești, the "unsourced" rationale doesn't work because it has a valid external link. Ideally this external link would be cited in the passage with an inline citation, however it is enough to prove the existence of the club.
2. For 2017 Maldives FA Cup, here again the article has external links, but no inline citations. If an article lacks inline citations, feel free to paste a {{no footnotes}} tag onto it, basically saying that it has references (or links) placed in it at the end, but no citations to say what information goes with what source.
3. For 7th Annual NFL Honors, I'd first mention that any "future" class article is difficult to work with for a curator. The general guideline for future articles is that they should be for things that are absolute certainties, or at least as near to them as possible, and immediately relevant (timewise) (feel free to read Wikipedia:Future event for a better definition, but note that this is an essay, not Wiki policy). In this case, it's almost absolutely certain that the NFL will have its Honors ceremony, unless it disbands, which is very unlikely. It also passes the "immediately relevant" benchmark, as it is to occur in a few months.
4. For Rafał Wolsztyński: The BLP PROD is for articles that have no sources, and this one has two sources (although they are the same website in different languages, so technically only one source).
Overall, most of the mistakes you made have to do with sources; sources mean any reference or external link cited, even if they aren't the most trustworthy (if they are very untrustworthy, you may wish to start a AfD about them), or else not cited within the article (in which case you should use the no footnote template I have shown above). Future articles are difficult in general, so I'd recommend you stay away from curating any article about future subjects until you have more experience. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 16:55, 24 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi Iazyges, thank you for your comment and advice for now I understand relevant external links would be cited as reference in Wikipedia. Thank you for accepting me as your student for new page reviewer program and I am looking froward to hearing from you on the program and the work/assignments which I need to work on.
