Your GA reviews of Aphrodite, Satan, and Jonah

Hello! I wanted to thank you so much for agreeing to take the time to review the articles Aphrodite, Satan, and Jonah, which I have nominated for GA. I noticed that you tagged a few statements in the articles Jonah and Aphrodite as uncited and I wanted to let you know that all of the statements you tagged in those articles have now been supported with citations to reliable sources. I am determined to do whatever I can to make sure that all of these articles pass, so, if you have any other concerns or complaints at all, be sure to let me know about them so that I may remedy them. Thanks once again! --Katolophyromai (talk) 20:35, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

@Katolophyromai: No problem! I'll try to get to reviewing the articles soon. -- Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 20:41, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

Re: GA review of Avidius Cassius

Hi Iayges, I saw you submitted Avidius Cassius, & was considering reviewing it only to find some omissions of material significant enough you may want to pull the article & rework it. These are as follows:

  • Cassius' daughter, Avidia Alexandra, married into a powerful Lycian family that is relatively extensively documented. (One academic considers it the best known non-Imperial family tree of the period.) This family is documented in an inscription which is discussed in Shelagh Jameson, "Two Lycian Families", Anatolian Studies, 16 (1966), pp. 125-137, available from JSTOR. (If you don't have access to JSTOR, email me & I'll send you a copy of the pdf.)
  • There are two ancient sources listed at the bottom of the article. Both are chapters from the Historia Augusta. Normally these are cited as part of that work, but the way they are presented they appear to be independent works.
I had intended to make it a listic of primary sources, such as I have at Leo II (emperor), but the sources for Avidius Cassius didn't give me much to worth with, so I've removed it entirely. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 00:27, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
  • BTW, there are other primary sources for this period: Lucian & Cassius Dio.
See above. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 00:27, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Avidius had several significant contacts with contemporary literary circles. The rhetor Fronto was a correspondent of his. (There is an article online that discusses this -- J.E.G. Whitehorne."Fronto's Letter to Avidius Cassius", Prudentia, 9 (2014), pp. 41-46 ISSN 2382-1620.) And his friendship with Herodes Atticus, one of the major figures of the Second Sophistic, extended beyond the one letter mentioned in the article. (FWIW, his father was a friend of another member of the Second Sophistic, Aelius Aristides.)

If you need further help with sourcing this material, let me know & I'll do what I can. -- llywrch (talk) 00:12, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

Adopt-a-user - your availability

Hello. Could I ask you to check and, if necessary, update your availability details at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters, please?

I've been updating that page, plus the list of over 100 people seeking adoption (which I've now stripped down to around 20 active editors genuinely seeking help.

I've been working to identify those Adopters who are currently available, and those who haven't been active on Wikipedia for a while. But I don't think the bot has been updating correctly, so a manual check from you would be really helpful. I've also made some suggestions and a few edits to make life easier for newcomers. I've put some of my observations down in answer to a recent post about inactivity of some Adopt-a-User Project contributors. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 00:41, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
