Welcome!

Hello, Icarda, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:47, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

May 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen (Icarda) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Username blocked; contributing to articles about your company[edit]

Hello. As you were advised above, your username is an issue under our username policy. Since you have been using this account to edit the article on the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas, it has been blocked. A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Please review Wikipedia:Username.

You are encouraged to create a new account that meets our policy guidelines. If you wish to rename this account instead of simply starting a new one, you may do so by

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance; thus, do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.

I do need to advise you, though, that the problem is not solely with the username, but also that your edits are not consistent with our policies. We cannot accept content from your website until and unless it is licensed compatibly with our own. As I'm sure you're aware, the ICARDA web content is published under full reservation: © 2013 International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). Content published here is not; it is licensed liberally for modification and reuse by anyone, even commercially. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.

Further, we have to ask you to be very cautious in editing the page due to our concerns about conflicts of interest. Please read over Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for some suggestions on how to successfully engage the article about your company. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:08, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
