Warning users[edit]

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 21:19, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I never knew you could do that. Idkiguessus (talk) 21:22, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also another tip, for the title of your warnings put the month and date of the warning being issued instead of "no thanks". Cheers. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 21:47, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why would you put the month and date? It says in the signature. Idkiguessus (talk) 21:48, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How does one add multiple comments to one topic -Idkiguessus (talk) 23:30, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, you could also use Twinkle once you're autoconfirmed. It automates the process of reverting vandalism. I started off with Twinkle before moving on to Huggle. When putting on the warning, the section should be the month and the year, so if the warning was issued on May, it will be May 2023. You could also check out the counter vandalism unit academy as it's a great place and you could be trained by experienced vandal fighters. -- Wesoree (talk·contribs) 21:54, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Idkiguessus: although the signature has it, we place the month and date as it's a standard which was adopted. Examples: [1] and [2]
These examples have the date and this is really important as if a bot catches them, or when someone who uses a tool such as huggle. -- Wesoree (talk·contribs) 22:01, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, one more thing:

Information icon Hello, and thank you for removing vandalism from Brisbane Broncos. We appreciate this, but unfortunately your edit was not successful in restoring the article to its pre-vandalised state. For future reference, it is better to deal with vandalism by checking the article's page history to determine how it appeared before it was vandalised. You can then restore the whole article, or the relevant part of it, to an appropriate earlier version. If you simply delete the visible vandalism then any content removed or overwritten by the vandal is lost. See How to deal with vandalism for details. Thank you. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 23:55, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am pretty sure I reverted. -Idkiguessus (talk) 23:58, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not saying that you didn't, what I am saying is when you did revert, there were other bad edits that you did not revert that remained in the article. See the page history for details. In the future, I would take a closer look at the page history before reverting, however, anti-vandal tools (once you can use them) will do the job for you. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 00:00, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a process I should follow to mark an IP as registered to a school? I have found this user talk, User talk:206.253.39.83, and it appears to be registered to Ulysses School District, specifically Joyce Elementary School. Is there a formal process for discussion first or should i just add the School IP template?

Idkiguessus (talk) 21:10, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There's no formal process, but personally I'd hesitate to do it unless it publicly geolocates to a school on a website like whatismyIPaddress.com, for privacy reasons, particularly of schools that teach underaged kids and teenagers. However, you just add {{Shared IP edu}} to the top. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 01:29, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

CVUA[edit]

Hello Idkiguessus! It's been a month since you've last done anything regarding your training for the CVU. I'm simply here to remind you that you still have more to do. If you don't continue soon then I will have to end the training so that others can be trained. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 14:19, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
