Spelling and relationship with Nesbitt[edit]
It is possible Scott intentionally miss-spelled 'Moonlight' to make police think the Egerton bank robber was poorly educated. And whilst it is natural enough by the standards of the 21st century to assume he and Nesbitt were lovers due to the very flowery language in his letters, how distraught he was at Nesbitt's death, and the request to be buried alongside him, we must remember that they were living in different times, and he may have been merely expressing a love that was not physical. Remember, it is reporterd that a 'young lady' was accompanying him on his fraudulently purchased yacht when attempting to escape to Fiji (http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/scott-andrew-george-4546).
