Wiki help

{{adminhelp}} As I remember I'd registrated with ' igorp_lj' login name. Why is it really converted to ' Igorp lj ' one consisting of two parts an who may help me to rerun to my choice?
Thank you. - Igorp lj (talk)

You'll notice in your address bar that this page is shown as "User_talk:Igorp_lj" - when you registered your account, Mediawiki interpreted the underscore as a space, because that's how it handles them from URLs. When you log in, it shouldn't make any difference if you add the underscore or not. Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:06, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{adminhelp}} What one can do to let my name be seen according to my choice - 'igorp_lj' in all Wiki's places ? - Igorp lj (talk) 23:00, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not an admin, but what you can do is change your signature so that it shows up as you want it. Click on the "my preferences" link at the top right of the screen and in the user profile tab write igorp_lj in the text box for Signature. Do not check the box below. Click save and from now on whenever you sign it will show igorp_lj as your name. It wont change the address though. nableezy - 23:56, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!!! It appears that good news just from you were waiting me while I spent time at ru.wiki. Thanks again and I'll be glad to discuss any topic with you besides of possible difference in our points. - Igorp_lj (talk) 22:54, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with Wikipedia:Emailing users

In Wikipedia:Help desk/Archives/2014 April 11#Problem with Wikipedia:Emailing users you didn't mention you mail provder but if it's Yahoo then you are probably hit by the problem at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 125#Wikipedia email not working when I send but works when others send to me. It's also mentioned at DMARC#History. We may have to update our email help pages. Some mail providers still allow Yahoo mail from other servers than Yahoo's own. My Danish mail provider may be one of them. My advice is still to try another mail provider, especially if you have Yahoo. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:05, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I do, I use Yahoo. I have to think how to arrange this passing. May be I'll try to make test pass to other email provider before.

Rabin Pre-Military Academy

In Rabin Pre-Military Academy#References, I'm removing your remark embedded in the citation of a Jerusalem Post article of March 19, 2009:

That was what Zamir wrote in 1990, reprinted in 2004. The testimonies of the soldiers that he brought to the public's attention seem to corroborate - what a coincidence - his thesis.

This sort of personal commentary doesn't belong on the mainspace page. You might consider adding it to the article's Talk page; I leave that to you. -- Deborahjay (talk) 10:48, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the notification. I do think that article author's opinion should be in the article, and there is no place here for your "This sort of personal commentary", but let's continue at the article's Talk page. --Igorp_lj (talk) 13:19, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback Malik Shabazz, 29 April 2015

{{talkback|Malik Shabazz|Your revert (Gaza strip)|ts=02:30, 29 April 2015 (UTC)}}

See == revert (Gaza strip)

I wasn't talking about any consensus for Nishidani's "nonsense" (in your words). So I'd suggest you to read a Talk:Gaza Strip#Seib topic before your so fast revert. --Igorp_lj (talk) 21:52, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Your classification of people into two camps—those who compare the Gaza Strip to a concentration camp and therefore must be pathological "critics of Israel and left-wing / pro-Palestinian activists" and those who reject the comparison and can be left undescribed—violates both WP:NPOV and WP:BLP. I did read that section of the Talk page and, as I wrote, there was no consensus for your nonsense. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:28, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Are you meaning that Lauren Booth, Giorgio Agamben aren't "critics of Israel and left-wing / pro-Palestinian activists"? IMHO, if someone may find an information about activism of "those who reject the comparison" it may be added as well.
Any way, there is no consensus for your edition as well, it isn't attributed, their RS are grouped confusedly, etc. So I'd invited you to take a part at the Talk page to discuss the arguments against it. --Igorp_lj (talk) 07:13, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Help

Igorp. Could you look into the Binjamin Infantry Brigade? I can't see it listed in Israeli brigades but it is called thus on Haaretz's report concerning the al-Kasbah incident today. If it's a bother, forget it. Thanks Nishidani (talk) 17:30, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It should be named either Binyamin Region Brigade as at Arutz 7, or Binyamin (Regional) Brigade as at JPost. I have no idea why Haaretz has called it just as Binyamin infantry brigade. I'll check Hebrew sources later. --Igorp_lj (talk) 20:40, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

FAQ

(reply to my "Talk:Mandatory Palestine/FAQ: Transjordan": I've returned "Response by DaoXan" & Zero's reply to the page to let know to a reader about other POV. Can you please explain your "moving to main talk page - this is an FAQ, and should be discussed on the main talk page" deletion's description  ? Regards, --Igorp_lj (talk) 22:04, 6 July 2015")

...Sure, his comments were almost impossible to understand, poorly structured and poorly sourced. The FAQ should not be a discussion, but a consensual position reflecting the views of the editors who are discussing at the talk page. See the banner I added, which explains it. Oncenawhile (talk) 22:11, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And as it turns out, when his response was pasted into the main talk page, it was disagreed with universally. Oncenawhile (talk) 22:12, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The template banner says "These FAQ answers reflect the decisions found in the talk page archives. Please feel free to change them in light of new discussion."
Which means that the discussion should be had at the main talk page itself.
Oncenawhile (talk) 22:20, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removed your precious ITIC garbage addition (@The kyle 3)

Considering that the article in question is about Israeli strikes and Palestinian casualties during last year's attack on the Gaza Strip by Israel, and not about the whiny piddling and excuse-making of pro-Israel and IDF-apologist "think tanks" trying to defend a 65-70% civilian death rate through lying.

I see that you exhibit a lot of the worst traits of the obnoxiously pro-Israel Wikipedia editor-- for example your wailing over the single Israeli child killed last summer while shamelessly ignoring the 400-500 children killed by Israel. Even more rationale for me to revert your "additions". The kyle 3 (talk) 17:37, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@The kyle 3: explain what are you talking about in the message. Maybe it'll be news to you, but the pro-Israeli (as well as pro-Arab, etc,) editor - isn't a curse word. IMHO, much more important is to bring and to use correct & reliable information. That's what I haven't found in this your "whiny piddling" message.
So when you'll be able to formulate your charges specifically, basing on relevant RS & diffs - wellcome. But not before :) --Igorp_lj (talk) 18:19, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Poll on Peace Now article

The following discussion is closed and will soon be archived.

You reverted my edit on Peace Now. A poll is a primary source. Wikipedia is based on secondary sources. Do you have any media articles that report on this poll? Otherwise it's not a valid source... --Perplexed566 (talk) 21:52, 1 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll check.
At the moment: it seems to me that this poll is more RS and closely concerns to "Peace Now and the Second Intifada (2000–2005)" section than the following PR about its own success from Peace Now itself & its allies:

Despite the arguable decline in the Israeli public's support for the Oslo Peace Process, Peace Now succeeded in leading a demonstration of 100,000 people (in May, 2002) for the purposes of pressuring the government to withdraw from all Palestinian territories.[23] (According to "Peace Now" itself) Shortly after the outbreak of the Second Intifada, Peace Now was instrumental in creating the Israeli Peace Coalition, which later evolved into the Israeli-Palestine Peace Coalition.[1] Its main objective is to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands, and to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution.[24]

Let's clarify & continue at Talk:Peace Now. --Igorp_lj (talk) 23:16, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to have been discussed years ago so there was a consensus.

If you actually want to make a change, you should focus on the new case at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Palestine-Israel articles 3/Evidence. Settleman (talk) 18:31, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm still trying to understand what are the changed 'Scope of evidence'.
As I see it's worth to read already moved numerous 'Preliminary statements' too. --Igorp_lj (talk) 22:14, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Palestine-Israel articles 3/Evidence

Please rewrite your evidence so that it is more general and not focussed on any specific editor. I've already made it clear to another editor that they need to do this and if they don't it will be done by someone else. There are no parties to this case. We are interested in the general issues and although hopefully we can revise the existing remedies to improve the area, we won't be sanctioning any editors. Thanks. Doug Weller (talk) 17:54, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Doug Weller: I am not sure that other evidences do prove that "there are no parties to this case", but I'll try to correct my text, so it'll describe a situation without specifying therein the names of specific editors.
Do I understand right that your ask doesn't mean removing the links to examples themselves, or ..? --Igorp_lj (talk) 21:42, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding..

...my welcome of Settleman: yes, I would say that was absolutely correct in this case. Have you looked at his first edits? His *very* first edit was the creation of a new article! ..In a very controversial area, no less. Now, how many new editors do that?

And I´m answering your question here, as I don´t want to "clutter" arb.com evidence page, with things that *really* don´t belong there, Cheers, Huldra (talk) 00:05, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Terrorism-info.org.il

Hello Igorp lj,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Terrorism-info.org.il for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 8 August 2021.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Sarah Sanbar

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

Hi Igorp_lj! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|Igorp_lj|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you!
