Re: A barnstar for you!

Thank you for the barnstar! Getting rid of spam has become a recent focus of mine. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 08:20, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Your signature

Hello Ihaveamac, I noticed the page you have with your signature. I just wanted to remind you (in case you didn't know) that you can add a custom signature in your preferences so you can sign with four tildes as you normally would. If you intend to use User:Ihaveamac/sig as a template, let me know and I'll make some changes so it will display properly. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 06:47, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Blanking warning messages from talk pages

Hi.I saw your edit query when restoring blanked messages on an IP page. The general answer is that editors may blank their own talk pages but it is less clear for anonymous IP editors. I have often restored comments just as you did, but if it just a single message I guess it is probably prudent to be accommodating! Regards  Velella  Velella Talk   23:11, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

So, it's good when they remove warnings from their talk pages? Well, he did it again with the summary "SUCH SAD PEOPLE. YOU REALLY HAVNT GOT ANYTHING BETTER TO DO ..LOL". ~ihaveamac [talk|contribs] 23:20, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
No, not good, but usually not worth worrying about. The Bots can usually keep count even if comments are removed. With editors like the IP you have been dealing with, I find it is usually better just to walk away until something more serious happens. I think that he/she only made one vandal edit and all the rest has been repercussions. It is often best just to cut a little slack until it gets serious .  Velella  Velella Talk   23:31, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
That makes sense now. ~ihaveamac [talk|contribs] 23:33, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Re: Dutta Vs Dutta poster

No, there is any other version without watermark (in all version they have added some watermarks). I could try deleting the watermark using photoshop brush, but that generally spoils some part of an image's look (i.e. you copy some portion of the surrounding and try to hide the watermark with it). So, I thought to wait till 23 November (film's release date), hopefully we'll get 1 clean image then. Thanks for your suggestion and kindness! --Tito Dutta (talk) 07:04, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Protection question

If a page in my userspace is fully protected so only administrators can edit it, will I still be able to edit it since it's in my userspace? ~ihaveamac [talk|contribs] 07:59, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

No. JohnCD (talk) 08:53, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
ok, thanks. I thought I saw something like that on a page, but I wasn't sure. ~ihaveamac [talk|contribs] 08:54, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Having confidently given that answer, I had doubts, but I have confirmed it by experiment. I have an alternate account for use where it might not be secure to use an admin account, so I logged in to that and set up a subpage, came back to my main account and protected it, went back to the alt account and no, I couldn't edit it. JohnCD (talk) 09:53, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Your iChatGui

Hey, I have a question. I'm using your iChatGui and I was wondering if it was possible to make it not show a message that starts with any of my personal admin commands that I made myself.

Thanks for the information, I had done that only a few minutes before your message. I don't use my alt account much, I set it up for the purpose of using it on extra devices (tablets work computer, etc) so I never noticed there was an issue. :) -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 16:42, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

concerning your nomination to delete my page, "Mr Ideran"

Hello, this is wolfie the oe wolf and i am here to ask you to lift the speedy deletion of my page Mr ideran. I have worked tiredlessly on this for over a week, being new to Wikipedia, and i wanted to write a page on a mentor, a father figue if you will, and pay my respects. This is not just some botched information I scrambled together, this is actual information i gathered from students and teachers. The entire of high school of Oswego East would be just let down if this page was removed. And i promise you, there will be no lewd comments put on this page, only the factual information, from an honest student. Even though some of the information is sometimes hard to believe, you must take my word that it comes either directly from lessons or conversations with Steve. If this article is not deleted then it will only grow and prosper for its time on Wikipedia. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfie the oe wolf (talkcontribs) 04:59, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

once again, concerning

Im sorry but i dont follow, im new so walk me through here man. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wolfie the oe wolf (talkcontribs) 05:11, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

?

so long as students are able to search the name mr ideran, easily, and the page stays for no matter what edits are on there, note they will be legitimate. Wolfie Wolfstein (talk) 05:19, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

thanks...but.

thanks, i know sandlot is for practicing and it wont appear if you search as just a person wanting to read it. What can i do to fix the existing page, put it back up, and allow the page to actually stay without so many flags and 10 yard penalties?? Wolfie Wolfstein (talk) 05:26, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

cool

thanks man, i believe five sources from legitimate sites will work?

Thanks

Once again thanks, by the way.. i am doing this not only for the kids in my school so that can sort of create a cult around him, cuz he doesnt get any recognition, but also i am using this to sharpen my comedic writing skills, cuz im taking second city classes, so this helps immensely, thanks for taking the time to help a dumb ass like me!Wolfie Wolfstein (talk) 05:45, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks (2)

Thanks for the revert on my talk page. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:31, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome. I was constantly refreshing recent changes, and found your page (on my watch list) blanked. iXavier [talk|contribs] 05:35, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Re your message: The WHOIS records and comments by the first IP show that they are proxy servers for the Opera Turbo service. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:46, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Re your message: The proxies should probably be blocked as you said since they are a form of open proxies, but a larger discussion should probably be held since it would be blocking a service of a particular web browser. I don't usually deal with proxies, so you might want to bring it up at Wikipedia:WikiProject on open proxies/Requests. As for your testing, my guess is that it might be that IPv4 users are going through one set of IPs while IPv6 users are going through another. I don't know how the Opera Turbo service works, but from the description, it seems that it only kicks in under certain circumstances. Obviously, I don't use Opera. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:02, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Re your message: Interesting, though it doesn't surprise me. Everything is configurable nowadays. On a side note, you're right, I was giving that vandal a little too much slack, but I took care of that. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:32, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Re your message: Yeah, I know. I've been watching. It's pretty funny. Another admin will come along and put a stop to that. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 07:00, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Re your message: Sorry about the delay getting back to you. You're right that I can't handle their unblock requests since I was the admin who blocked them. Sometimes if the unblock requests are particularly abusive then the blocking admin can act, but under normal circumstances, the blocking admin should leave them for others to deal with. I see that Kinu and Jpgordan took care of it and revoked their talk page access. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:04, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

what's going on?

Why aren't you on the wiki anymore? ~Curiouscrab

I never intended to stay indefinitely really, and there's other reasons that I've gone inactive on the Scratch Wiki. I'll be here, make an account if you like (if you haven't yet). iXavier [talk|contribs] 02:44, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Hey, I took down the speedy tag you put on Norman B. Hansen because I couldn't figure out how it was a broken redirect or anything. Looks like it works fine and goes to Norman Hansen to me. Was I missing something? Apologies if I did, I'm rusty from not having edited in a long time. Did you want to do a page move? Peace, delldot ∇. 03:18, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

When I added the tag, it appeared to be a broken redirect, even when refreshing. I guess I needed to purge, but that it was I saw. iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 03:21, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Huh, weird, well thanks for explaining! delldot ∇. 03:40, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Now that I'm not on an iPad, I can easily type this: The redirect was made at 19:36, and I tagged it at 19:55 as a broken redirect. The page it redirected to was created at 19:58, so it was a broken redirect when I tagged it, but the page was created 3 minutes later. iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 03:42, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

cat=no on Scratch Wiki templates

Somebody trolled the templates and removed the cat=no, but there is no history of it. Can you add them back? The template In Progress needs it. ~Curiouscrab

Every edit is saved in the history, you can look at the diffs to find out who removed it. Can you name a specific template that it was removed from? iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 02:48, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

Checking diffs... iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 22:44, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
The template never had the "cat=no" parser function in it. You need to add this to it:
{{#ifeq: {{{cat}}} | no | | [[Category:CATEGORY NAME|{{PAGENAME}}]]}}

about Barbecue page

Hello, When I saw that section(Korea), I felt it was wrong because "Genghis Khan Teppanyaki" is not Korean one. It is derived from Korean Barbecue, but some Japanese guys named that for branding. Instead of it, there are so many names that represents Korean style barbecues. So, I just want to delete wrong information. I think that was written from Chinese guy who doesn't know Korea well. Is this enough? Then I am gonna delete that shit again.

It's what you replaced the content with that made me revert. iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 05:37, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

image deletion

if u r an admin, pls delete this image File:Alibabavum 40 Thirudargalum Audio.jpg. i only uploaded it, but now find it somwehat dissatisfying. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:10, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, not an admin. You might be able to tag it with G7 ({{db-g7}}) or something, but I can't delete it because I'm not an admin. :( iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 05:15, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
If you want, you can remove it from the article it's on, or replace it with a new image you want to upload. After the current image File:Alibabavum 40 Thirudargalum Audio.jpg is not used for 7 days, it will be deleted. iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 05:17, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

I just reported them for vandalism. Was witting up and AN/I but this is ridiculous. Ridernyc (talk) 00:57, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

It also looks like the report on you was declined. iXavier [talk|edits|logs] 00:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Of course it was, trying to build consensus and stop edit wars is not against any rules and is certainly not vandalism. Thanks for the backup. Ridernyc (talk) 01:00, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about that! It was an error based on the spam you marked for deletion. I try to respond to spam as quickly as possible, and in this case clicked on the wrong line in the page history in my haste. You did nothing wrong, and everything right, and I wasn't paying attention. I've unblocked you, and blocked the IP that was the real culprit. I'll be more careful in such cases from now on. Help

Do books like Book:Microsoft Windows allow cover images with trademarks? //iXavier <talk/edits/logs> 06:16, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

See WP:Logos for using non-free images of logos - does that help? JohnCD (talk) 09:39, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
Well, it's a public domain logo with a trademark on it. That's what I'm wondering about. //iXavier <talk/edits/logs> 16:29, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
I think they do, because Book:Wikipedia uses the Wikipedia logo as its cover image, which is apparently subject to a registered trademark. smtchahal 12:33, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

editToken

Hello IXavier,

Your script User:IXavier/twinklemod.js is no longer functional because it attempts to get an editToken from mw.user.tokens. The script should instead get a csrfToken. editTokens were removed from mw.user.tokens on October 3, 2019 at Phabricator during this edit as they were redundant to csrfTokens.BrandonXLF (talk) 00:06, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
