Cleanup[edit]

Hi, I have added a task to your desk.

Awesome, I'll look at it tonight. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 13:44, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucratship[edit]

Hi, Ilyanep. Thank you so much for your support and kind words on my bureaucratship nomination. Unfortunately, it didn't pass, but I intend to run again soon. If you'd like to be informed next time around, please let me know on my talk page. Thanks again! Andre (talk) 05:05, September 4, 2005 (UTC)

Sure...No problem. Yes I would like to know when you run again, as I think you'll make a good bureaucrat. Sorry it didn't pass. Cheers. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 13:21, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise, I appreciate your compliment very much. All the support is a bit overwhelming, and I'm very grateful for your kindness. — Dan | Talk 06:36, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You too. You definately deserve to become a bureaucrat. Congratulations. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 13:21, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Thank you for supporting my RFA and for your kind comment. Rl 12:44, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I hope to see you run again soon. Sorry your RFA didn't work out. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 13:22, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Holidays[edit]

Should I proceed with the table issue without the specific colours? Today's Teacher's Day here and Ganesh Chaturti is two days away. Would like to add the details. =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:14, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Umm...as with anything on wikipedia, be bold. I think this'll work. Just replace all the colors in the table with {{{color}}}, {{{color2}}} and {{{color3}}}, and you should be set. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 09:22, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
What are you doing at such an unearthly hour? =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:26, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

RFB[edit]

  • An anon has voted against me in my RFB. As anons don't have a vote, would you look into the matter, and possible move the vote to the comments? Thanks. =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:02, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Hi Ilyanep:
Thanks for support in my recent RFB nomination. I'm now WP's newest bureaucrat. :) Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 18:50, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

Good job! Congratulations! — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 23:19, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Popups tool[edit]

Congratulations on being made a bureaucrat! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools#Navigation_popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is to paste the following into User:Ilyanep/Talk Archive 8/monobook.js:

// [[User:Lupin/popups.js]] - please include this line

document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
             + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');

popupAdminLinks=true;

Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin 02:34, 8 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm...I'm not a new bureaucrat, but what's funny is that I just recently was looking at this and considering doing this :D — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 02:43, 8 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
A little bird tells me that you've seen this script do funny things sometimes, like making firefox give the "unresponsive system" dialog. This is a bug which I'd like to iron out. If you can reproduce this consistently please could you let me know how? For example, I found things like this used to happen when generating popups for certain pages - I thought this had been fixed, but if you still find it happening then a list of those pages would be useful for fixing it properly. Lupin|talk|popups 17:00, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Were you on IRC at the time? Heh. I didn't notice you. Anyways...I haven't seen any patterns, but I haven't been paying attention. I'll let you know if I see anything. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 17:06, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your monobook.js[edit]

I think that this line is wrong as the string isn't terminated properly and there's a missing closing paren.

tabs.appendChild(addlilink('javascript:edit_summary_watch("{{" + "subst:User:Ilyanep/Wel}}", "Welcome!", true);

Lupin 02:14, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Probably...and that may be why my extra tabs never works :-\ — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 03:34, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fox News: A Measure of Media Bias[edit]

I've written a draft for a new bulletpoint for the Fox News Bias section. I'd appreciate if you could look it over: Talk:Fox_News#A_Measure_of_Media_Bias crazyeddie 04:59, 15 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking[edit]

Looks like I might be rolling again. Testing 1...2....3.... WikiDon 03:43, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Is this before or after the 2nd email? — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 22:44, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
That was after I think. I will talk to Earthlink to see if they can't block the user on their end, instead of all thoughs IP's. Let's see if this works....WikiDon 23:55, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yes please do and let's hope this gets resolved. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 03:24, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

WikiMeet[edit]

No, no definite plans. I'd definitely like to have Jimbo along, and I'm quite flexible so long as it's on a weekend and not during Christmas or Thanksgiving, so I think the best course of action would be to ask him about his schedule. Incidentally, it's the University of Chicago, not the University of Illinois at Chicago (they're different and unrelated places, as students of both institutions are always quick to point out :-)). — Dan | Talk 03:42, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Alright...well I'm okay as long as it's after October 14th and on the weekend (and like you said; not on a holiday). And I'd love to have Jimbo there...it'd be really cool to meet the creator of Wikipedia in person. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 22:33, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sysop[edit]

Can I steal your sysop welcoming notice? =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:58, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!![edit]

Happy Birthday Ilyanep! Enjoy your special day. You share your birthday with Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's second Prime Minister. Auspicious day indeed. Let's party! =Nichalp «Talk»= 05:19, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago area meetup[edit]

I've finally decided on a place for the first Wikipedia meetup in Chicago: 2 p.m. at Saturday, October 15th at Cafe Iberico, a tapas bar in the River North neighborhood of Chicago at 739 N. La Salle Drive. They have parking available and are 0.3 mile from the Chicago stop of the CTA Red Line. See their website for parking information; for transit planning use the RTA trip planner with a destination address of "739 N. La Salle Dr." Cafe Iberico has vegetarian selections for those who are so inclined (sorry, they're not very vegan-friendly, I'm afraid). The food is excellent and the environment very suitable for an informal gathering. Do check their webpage for any additional questions, or ask me. They typically cost typically costs between $10 and $15 per person; I'm willing to cover for anyone for whom this is too much (as long as we don't get too many people).

Please let me know before Saturday, October 8th (by email or on my talk page) if you're planning on coming so I can make the appropriate reservations. See you there! Oh, and please share this invitation with anyone you know of in the Chicago area who I've missed. Kelly Martin 19:53, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The 15th sounds okay for me, but I have to talk with my parents first ;). Also, have you talked to Jimbo? I think his page says he's busy until the 8th of Nov. Oh well... BTW, isn't LaSalle Dr. downtown? — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 01:32, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't mentioned it to Jimbo, but I don't really expect to see him there. Cafe Iberico is in River North, which is technically outside of the Loop, but just barely (just on the other side of the Chicago River). I was looking for a location that is reasonably accessible from the CTA. Kelly Martin 02:05, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration subpage[edit]

Hi. Each of the current candidates in the Arbitration Committee election now has a subpage for people to ask questions and have a discussion with the candidate. It's linked to below your statement on the candidate statements page. Hopefully, this format will be more productive and less disruptive than the "endorsements/disendorsements" approach that caused so many problems last year.

I took the liberty of copying your candidate statement unaltered to your subpage. Feel free to elaborate on it at whatever length you wish, without the concern of space restrictions as on the main candidate page. I encourage you to put your subpage on your watchlist and discuss arbitration issues with the community as part of your campaign. --Michael Snow 04:00, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

you trying to get hold of me on IRC[edit]

Hey Ilyanep :)

I see you've been trying to get hold of me on IRC a few times (and I've been afk when you tried). If you like, you can drop me an email at chris@starglade.org if it's important - I've been trying to catch you as well (I'm still around)! Talrias (t | e | c) 18:54, 9 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Monobook help.[edit]

Hi Ilyanep. I happened across your note on Village Pump technical concerning the underlined links issue. I wonder if you might be able to help me with a similar problem. I'd like for the "visited" and "unvisited" links to express my browsers default. Is there something I can place in my monobook.css that will do that? I believe that clicking "always use my colors" in my browser (F 1.0.7 on Win XP) will obviously do this, but I rather not force it for every website I visit. As you can tell, I'm no whizz at css, and what I know I learned on my own while running my own blog years ago; I could probably eventually figure it out, but if you know what to do that will save me time! Thanks :) And good luck on you Arbcom campaign! encephalon 13:29, 17 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You, or any Wikipedia user, can contribute your suggestions and comments to the /Workshop page of any active arbitration case. Comments on evidence or proposals can help in understanding the import of evidence and in refining proposals. Proposed principles, findings of fact, or remedies may be listed on /Proposed decision and form part of the final decision. Fred Bauder 14:36, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Tenorsaxreed.jpg has been listed for deletion[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Tenorsaxreed.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.
Good riddance. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 03:22, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you found the right place, Ilyanep! Anyways, I'm hoping that round four will open within the next week. The NotificationBot is down at the moment, and many of the players rely on the 'bot to notify them. Though I'll do manual notifications if necessary, I frankly have better things to do than to copy and paste messages for 50+ users. :-) (Isn't that why we have bots?) Anyways, in case you haven't heard, I'm trying a new format for round four. Instead of the traditional 10+ questions, part one of round four will be more of a creative and academic project. Part two will be more like the traditional rounds but will also have some changes... all the rule changes will be detailed when the round opens. Thanks for your interest! Hey there![edit]

Hi Ilyanep! I haven't seen you in a while during my WikiAdventures, so I decided to drop by and say "hi"! Have a great day :-) --HappyCamper 02:02, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Haven't seen you in a while as well. I've been mostly sitting on IRC, and doing schoolwork :\ I hope to get a little more active this month :D — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 03:22, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Can you tell me how to set up IRC if you have a minute? I'd like to learn how to use it :-) I'm running Windows at the moment. My other machine broke the other day... --HappyCamper 03:24, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. There are quite a few IRC clients, however. IF you use Mozilla or Firefox you can try Chatzilla. You can also try mIRC, Xchat, and the IRC client that comes with Opera ( I use Chatzilla and opera IRC). The basics are pretty simple in that you have to add a new server/connection/ etc. (there are different names for this in different clients). For the server you want to type in 'irc://irc.freenode.net' and for the port, leave it as default. There is no password to sign in with for freenode. Then when you're connected you can type in '/join #wikipedia' (or any other channel -- usually they're indicated by a pound sign. Some others I know of are #wikipedia-en and #wikimedia. Also you can ask around). If you need any specific help with a certain client or with a setting feel free to ask me :) — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 03:30, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again...Hmm...I do have Chatzilla installed now. I don't know how to get passed this point: --HappyCamper 03:51, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
NickServ This nickname is owned by someone else
NickServ If this is your nickname, type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY <password>
If you've never registered with nickserv, I think you might want to take a different name and then type '/msg nickserv register [password]' and then when you get on type '/msg nickserv identify [password]'. This is a sort of like registering a username (in a loose sense). — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 14:22, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Round four of Wikipedia Mind Benders will open on Thursday, December 1. This round will be drastically different from round three; part one will consist of a creative project, and part two will be developed from there. The full details will be released when the round opens. Time and speed should not be major factors in this round; thus, there is no exact opening time for the round as speed will not factor into the scoring. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:04, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Please add Wikipedia:Mind Benders/to do to your watchlist to receive further announcements; the NotificationBot is currently down and all notifications will be placed on that page. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Note: This message has been sent by Flcelloguy. If you do not wish to receive further messages regarding WP:MIND, please contact Flcelloguy. Special thanks to Fetofs for helping distribute this message.

Wikipedia's Status - Second Counts[edit]

Hmmm... I removed the seconds from the speeds because I thought no one actually tried loading Wikipedia and then started counting. Anyway, the old counts were really poorly metered (I mean, 5 seconds to me is slow, not borderline fast). (copied from [1])

Would you be interested in help determining good second counts for each of the speeds? — Ambush Commander(Talk) 00:20, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure...I'm not quite sure what this helping would entail, but since I use the status system a lot, i would definately like to help. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 00:01, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Probably just making a list. Take a bunch of speed adjectives and try to quantify them. I'll make one too, and then we can compare. The more input the better. — Ambush Commander(Talk) 00:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, sounds good...perhaps later though. Maybe Saturday? — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 00:13, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Whenever it's convenient for you. ;-) I've got a bit of work to do myself, so you might be the only one with the list come Saturday. — Ambush Commander(Talk) 00:17, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ilyanep, I think the case of this anon, which you blocked recently for 24 hours, might not be as clear-cut as it seems. Please review my comments on its 66.30.185.105. Can you reconsider the block or its duration? Thanks! Demi T/C 00:39, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Greek characters in signature[edit]

Could you please drop the Greek characters in your signature? I realize that it's a personal style issue, but you insult the language by using it as you do. Just because a letter looks like a Latin one, doesn't mean they are equivalent. Ιλιανηπ would be a proper transliteration of your name, though as I'm guessing it is of Slavic/Russian origin, it would be easier to go from Cyrillic to Greek.—Kbolino 08:26, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, as I never intended to do that. The reason I never switched to a real equivelant is because some people can't read greek. I'll make a new sig today. Also, I hope you understand that everywhere I've signed before will unfortunately remain as my old sig. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 15:49, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that. In fact, I was concerned that you may already have changed it when I posted this message. I may have been a little unhinged at the time, and for that I apologize, but I appreciate you making an effort.—Kbolino 19:40, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
