Welcome to my talkpage. How do you do?

A tag has been placed on Con Doyle requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 03:11, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Steamin' and Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story[edit]

The article Steamin' and Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable motion picture.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 03:12, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Any motion picture is notable? That's complete and utter nonsense! I'll take it to AfD. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:00, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Steamin' and Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steamin' and Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:04, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Story sham. I've moved this to your userspace so that if it does get independent reliable coverage at a later date the article can be worked on and re-introduced to the encyclopaedia. Slán,  Skomorokh  21:31, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:GrandmasterCash.jpg)[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:GrandmasterCash.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shubinator (talk) 14:29, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Baronronan.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Baronronan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Shubinator (talk) 05:54, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you removed the "no license" tag with a note saying "No copyright status." The creator of the image automatically retains copyright of the image. In order to use the image on Wikipedia, you must tag the image with the license the creator has agreed to. See the links above or leave a note on my talk page if you're confused. Shubinator (talk) 18:17, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have to add a copyright tag to the image. WP:ICTIC has a list of the most common Wikipedia-compatible tags; I believe {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} is the most common for new uploads. Keep in mind that if you release the image under one of those licenses, anyone can use the image, even for a profit. Hope this helps, Shubinator (talk) 20:56, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non Free Images in you User Space[edit]

Hey there Imagi-King, thank you for your contributions! I am a bot alerting you that Non-free images are not allowed in the user or talk-space. I removed some images that I found on User:Imagi-King. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use images to your user-space drafts or your talk page. See a log of images removed today here, shutoff the bot here and report errors here. Newest version of "Steamin'"[edit]

I see you've moved the article back into mainspace. There are still some problems with references:

  • The articles on blogspot.com sites are not considered to be reliable sources. Generally speaking, blogs are not considered to be reliable for Wikipedia purposes.
  • The second-screening link from the film festival's site is a dead link.
  • The Pavilion Cork link shows no information of any kind, essentially a dead link.
  • The video at the YouTube link doesn't seem to work. Moreover, since that appears to be a YouTube account linked with the movie, it is likely to be viewed as a promotional vehicle for the movie.
  • It would help greatly if you could find online links to the stories in the4 Evening Echo, Cork News and Hot Press. Unlinked references are usable, but they are very hard to verify. I'm especially concerned that a search at Hot Press' web site for "Grandmaster Cash" turns up only a couple of results, one of which is only available as a paid archive article and the other mentioning it in passing, to wit "...Grandmaster Cash who has a documentary film, Steamin’ + Dreamin’, available locally on DVD." That sentence expresses my primary concern about this — the movie appears to be a local item, and only noted in a handful of places. I am still concerned that this Wikipedia article is merely a promotional vehicle for a locally-produced movie that has been screened at a local festival and hardly anywhere else. That does not constitute a notable film.

I hate to say it, but little usable verification has been added that sway me away from my original opinion that this article does not have merit. Everything is too local, and notable films are screened and written about outside a small geographical area. Unless you can come up with more references from sources that are considered independent, reliable and verifiable by Wikipedia standards, then we will likely revisit an article-for-deletion discussion. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 03:11, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've fixed the second screening link. It seems the page had been moved.
  • The Pavilion apparently don't keep an archive, so unfortunately they've deleted previous entries.
  • The video is playing for me. And although it has been uploaded by the film's account, it is a recording from a television program, and therefore a third party reference.
  • Unfortunately none of the articles are available online, not that I've found anyway. The best I could do is take pictures of the articles themselves and upload them. The film is of course local, but so is everything: everything is made somewhere. Hot Press is an internationally recognised Irish magazine. I see no reason that such a publication would waste column inches covering, as you call it, "a local item". The fact that the piece was penned by the deputy editor arguably evidences its relative importance. I believe that (positive and praising) coverage from the second in command of one of the country's most respected publications indicates notability. Overall, the film has received considerable media attention both on screen and in print, in areas both local and national. I don't think it's particularly far-fetched to consider this indicative of notability.
In relation to your final argument, well I've just discussed that really. Full national coverage in more than one medium certainly constitutes more than "a small geographic area".
Baron Ronan Doyle of Sealand (talk) 16:14, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that I dispute your notion of "national" coverage in "more than one medium." The Hot Press coverage you claim does not appear on their website, which appears to have a pretty thorough archive that I have searched through the site's own search feature and through Google. That makes me seriously doubt the Hot Press coverage even exists. Being written by a deputy editor doesn't mean anything. As for "The film is of course local, but so is everything": Well, major motion pictures are made somewhere, but they aren't local by anyone's definition. Your statement simply doesn't make sense. Here's another indication that the movie is not notable: It isn't even sold on Amazon. Amazon sells hundreds of thousands of movies and videos, even the most obscure. If it is too obscure for Amazon, it's not notable. So I guess we're back to AfD. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:25, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Steamin' and Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You can't post this article again[edit]

I just realized that we have already deleted this article through an AfD discussion. the result of the last fD was to delete. Unless you take the article to a deletion review and somehow get it overturned (highly unlikely), this article will now be removed. Articles deleted through AfD cannot be posted again, especially by the original author. This is a major violation of Wikipedia policies. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:46, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article has now been salted, and cannot be recreated ever again. This action was taken by administrators because you broke Wikipedia rules by re-posting an article which had been deleted through an article-for-deletion discussion. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 17:57, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So because I misunderstood policy, the page can never by included in the encyclopedia? That's a wonderful way to build an information database.Baron Ronan Doyle of Sealand (talk) 18:16, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's a way to build one that isn't full of article that are basically promotional vehicles. You gave it away when you put the user box on your user page that included the IMDB link which shows that you appeared in the movie. So you were engaging in self-promotion, or promotion of something with which you had significant involvement. In other words, you were spamming us. I suspected this all along. You simply had too much knowledge of the project, stuff that would only be known by an insider. This article is now officially toast, and you may face being blocked from editing. In any event, every edit you now make will be subject to scrutiny because of your action. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:13, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
"Significant involvement?" More a mere face in a large crowd. It's not as if this is some sort of big conspiracy. That userbox has been on my userpage all along, as has my name been on the article. Do tell me what it is you see as promotional in the article. I think it's sufficiently fitting, objective and unbiased language. And what information do you consider to be inside info, I'm curious to know? No, also, I won't be blocked. We both know that. Baron Ronan Doyle of Sealand (talk) 22:47, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're way out of line![edit]

You have absolutely no right to apologize to anyone ostensibly on my behalf. I'll speak on my own behalf if and when and how I see fit, without any help from you. Your "get over it" attitude is greatly offensive. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 15:56, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't apologised on your behalf. I'm just sorry for their sake that the other editors have to put up with your ridiculous and unnecessarily negative accusations of passive aggression, and indeed my defenses to the contrary. It's entirely irrelevant and unfounded, and I wish you'd keep it out of the discussion at hand. Many thanks. Baron Ronan Doyle of Sealand (talk) 16:19, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, you're trying to speak in regard to my actions, which you have no right to do. You are proving yourself once again to have no idea as to how Wikipedia properly works, and that your only concern is to garner free publicity for a film in which you appear, the DVDs for which are currently being sold out of someone's car. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 18:31, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And there you go again with your unbased assumptions. That bubble of ignorance must be jolly comfortable. I don't enjoy interaction with childish hypocrites, so I'll say goodbye now. Baron Ronan Doyle of Sealand (talk) 20:48, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You can go skipping off merrily down the lane if you wish with your fingers plugged in your ears, but that won't make the issue go away. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:59, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The only issue is your enduring rudeness. Put your personal dislike aside. DRV has reached a pretty clear consensus. Baron Ronan Doyle of Sealand (talk) 21:08, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just remember that deletion review simply means it gets put up for another AfD discussion, where we get to hash this all out again. And it is apparent from several of the comments in the DRV that many believe it will still result in deletion, and that only a speedy-delete should not have been done because of what they feel are changes significant enough to warrant another look. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 00:10, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That may indeed be the case, and I'll be happy to acquiesce should that be the outcome. Until then, however, I politely ask that you refrain from insulting my contributions as an editor. If nothing else, DRV appears to have decided that I was not in the wrong when reposting the article to mainspace, as it had been considerably improved. What I would like primarily is for you to accept that and discontinue your accusations of, among other things, spamming. Please consider how unhelpful it is. I have faith that you know better. Baron Ronan Doyle of Sealand (talk) 20:14, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Steamin' and Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steamin' and Dreamin': The Grandmaster Cash Story (4th nomination). Sorry it's taking time, but understand I don't have any myself. I've contacted a friend who has some though so they'll be up the second I get the email with them. Sorry again, and thanks for your patience. Baron Ronan Doyle (Sprechen mit mir) 08:35, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Running very short of time now, as the AfD's due to be closed today. I want to see this kept as I believe the coverage justifies its inclusion, but without eveidence of the sources other keep votes will be difficult to come by. Good luck getting them on in time. I appreciate the support. Being realistic though, I won't have them today at all. What do you think about maybe userfying until I get them? Thank you for uploading File:BaronRonanDoyle.jpg.

You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:03, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Heartless-2009-poster.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Heartless-2009-poster.jpg.

Twinkle, Friendly and more...[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you are all over the place reverting bad edits and vandalism! Awesome! I just wanted to point out that I've installed the tools Twinkle and Friendly to assist me with the same task. It allows me to both do a revert, and leave a polite message, or even a warning, on the other editor's page so they are aware of the mistakes they made and why their addition was reverted. For vandals, it comes in especially handy, because a certain number of warnings are normally supposed to be given before they are blocked - so if they aren't being warned, then we're stuck waiting on 4 or 5 warnings before we can report them for potential blocking.

Of course, you may have already considered all of this, and simply dislike using Twinkle and such, but, as others have jumped in to help me or offer me advice in the past, I figured I'd try to do the same.

On a side note (the "and more..." in the subject), the reason I have noticed you "all over the place" is because I am a big Iron Maiden fan. :-) Longtime fan, who loves their old stuff and new stuff equally as much (but tries to pretend the Blaze Bayley era didnt exist). I actually attempted my first album review recently. It's on my blog (link is on my userpage, and I am not sure if putting it someplace other than there would be considered advertising it, so you can find the link there if interested). Not the best of reviews (then again, I'm not the best at writing - among other things, I tend to ramble (didja notice?)), but not as horrendous as I thought it would turn out for my first effort. Anyway, have a great day! RobertMfromLI | User Talk 01:14, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PS: Twinkle is the one I use to revert pages (you will see a rollback option on recent changes), it will do the revert, then open the user's talk page in a new window. At that point, I can choose to use Twinkle to leave a warning or general note, or use Friendly to leave a more polite note about the issue caused. Best, RobertMfromLI | User Talk 01:30, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the tips, should come in handy! I might not get the chance to get used to them for a while, as I'm actually moving away for college tomorrow and haven't arranged for internet there yet, but I'm looking forward to figuring them out. Great review too, I'm agreed on almost everything you said! Baron Ronan Doyle (Sprechen mit mir) 01:37, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Safe move, and thanks for the kind words on my review! I'm usually around if you need help figuring out how to use the tools once you get settled in. Best, RobertMfromLI | User Talk 01:43, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll give a thumbs up on Twinkle, too. Helps greatly on new-page patrol. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 02:17, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Meh...I'm not a fan of Twinkle for anything other than speedy deletion tagging and adding templates to a user talk page, the rollback function is painfully slow. I also don't do much that requires automated tools, though, so I'm no expert there. I do find Friendly, the one time I've used it, helpful, though. C628 (talk) 19:01, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iron Maiden/Associated Acts[edit]

Hi Imagi-King, question I hope you dont mind me answering. I saw that edit to Iron Maiden by the anon (added Dream Theater under associated acts, and added Progressive to genre (which was already removed by someone else). I'm curious if you could tell me exactly what the associated acts section is for? I considered removing it myself, but wasnt sure about it. The reason I left it was (1) I wasnt sure what the section was for, (2) DT and IM just toured together, (3) at least one of DT's band members has thanked and/or dedicated one of their albums to IM (it was either Images and Words or Awake, in the liner notes). So... I waffled on removing it and erred on the side of caution.

Anyway, (sorry for the rambling), I was hoping you could provide me some insight into that field ("Associated Acts"). Thanks, Robert ROBERTMFROMLI TALK/CNTRB 03:54, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Robert. I'm no expert, but generally speaking I think the associated acts is reserved for bands with which Maiden share, or have shared, members. That seems to be the convention in this article anyway. I wasn't aware of the Dream Theater dedication, but I imagine Maiden have been the subject of many thanks from other bands they've influenced. And whilst touring together is of course an association, Maiden have done so with so many bands over the past 35 years that it would just be impractical to consider all of them associated acts. Like I said, I'm no expert-I've never read a guideline on this section or anything-but this seems to be the way the article was maintained before I came along. Hope this helps. Baron Ronan Doyle (Sprechen mit mir) 10:48, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That indeed seems to make the most sense, and makes the list in it's current form make sense. Thanks much for the reply. Best, Robert ROBERTMFROMLI TALK/CNTRB 13:26, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Maiden Heaven poster.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Maiden Heaven poster.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. multichill (talk) 11:40, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It appears we have a common enemy[edit]

The IP hopper that's been mucking about in Talk:Iron Maiden? He's been messing about on Talk:Church of Satan to the point where it's been locked, and is now after me about it. He's some nutjob that think's he's Sata- err, "Sahtahn." It's nice to see I'm not the only person dealing with him. You have any information on him? I know we have stuff about outing information, but it'd be nice to see him quit, since range blocks won't work and page locks are just as disruptive as he is. I was wondering if you could perhaps look into that page? There's been for a while now various IPs who persist on adding shows in Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria to the page, but Iron Maiden's website doesn't show any of them. I'm at a loss to explain it, and I was wondering if you knew any reasons why it might be happening, or how to stop it. I've added a hidden regarding the issue, though it seems to have gotten deleted somewhere along the line. I've also asked the most recent person to have added the stuff about it (User talk:84.91.101.206), but I don't know if I'll get an answer, since IPs are as likely to rotate as not. In any case, I was just wondering if you had any thoughts. Thanks in advance, C628 (talk) 22:55, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:DedicatedtoChaos.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:DedicatedtoChaos.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:07, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Would you add sources to the first three paragraphs of the "Production" section? Thanks, Cunard (talk) 06:57, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The first paragraph I got from one of the extant sources, I'll find which and add a citation. As for the other two, there's nothing that corroborates that information as such besides the existence of the MySpace page and YouTube videos, and the fact that the landmarks can be seen in the film (and the trailer for most of them). Not sure what would be appropriate for referencing these things. Baron Ronan Doyle (Sprechen mit mir) 12:22, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for adding a source to the first paragraph. Most of the second and third paragraphs do not need references per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (film)#Plot. Per WP:PSTS (Primary, secondary and tertiary sources), a primary source can be used to verify this material. However, the sentence, "The music achieved a high level of popularity", needs to be sourced to a secondary source or removed. Best, Cunard (talk) 22:38, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the Kerryman article as a source for the sentence you mentioned ("...and the videos/songs uploaded to YouTube and Myspace started to get a huge amount of hits"). Hope this suffices. Baron Ronan Doyle (Sprechen mit mir) 03:28, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that suffices. Thanks, Cunard (talk) 03:51, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Steamin' + Dreamin' 2: Cash Back has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:BEFORE check returns very little in terms of sourcing that could indicate that this film passes WP:NFILM. It has also been tagged for notability since 2012.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
