Userbox reformatting

Per your help desk post, I have placed your userboxes in three columns using a wikitable. There seems to be some repeats but I just took all of the ones you had and placed them. You can mix and match and now that the table is up, I think it will be self-explanatory how to add or subtract from it. Hope it's what you intended. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:00, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

I yesterday tried to add another userbox to the wikitable and although it displayed, it displayed so far to the side that it was difficult to view. Another attempt to fix this issue was unsuccessful. Immunize (talk) (talk) 14:58, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism

I reverted a bit of vandalism on your user page. You know you're doing something right when IPs start doing that! Keep up the good work. PDCook (talk) 16:28, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Your RfA

I would like to apologize. When you posted your question about Rfa to the help desk, I should have stepped up to advise you that your request was unlikely to pass. Going through your first RfA can be really stressful and as an experienced user (who had it happen once as well) I should of warned you of that. Please accept my apology and let me know if there's anything I can do to help. TNXMan 20:48, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Your RFA

I regret to inform you that I have closed your RFA per WP:NOTNOW. If you have any questions regarding this closure or if you want it reopened, ask and I will happily help you. Good luck next time! Kevin Rutherford (talk) 20:50, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

I have probably retired from editing per that recent RfA, but if not, I will at least take a wikibreak. Please do not delete my userspace. Best wishes. Immunize (talk) 20:51, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Go ahead and take a break as an RFA can be a big pain. On this site, your page will stay here unless you request its deletion. Good luck and I hope to see you run in the future. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 20:55, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
PS The answer to your block question was "yes", but memories of old blocks fade fast, particularly from new users. If you want to know what you have been spared by your short RFA, you might like to look at my first RFA. Stick around and you'll find your niche, and enjoy yourself at the same time. Stephen B Streater (talk) 21:20, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

I feel that I reacted overly intensely to failing that RfA, I still feel that (although I am most definitely not asking you to reopen it) it was inappropriate to close it that quickly. After all, most users never even had the chance to comment. Although I suppose I8 am returning, I am extremely discouraged to say the least. Immunize (talk) 14:29, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Welcome back. As a volunteer effort, there will always be rough and ready solutions. Luckily, you won't be short of people ready to comment on your actions :-) Stephen B Streater (talk) 15:40, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Retired

This is just silly. Per WP:NOTNOW why would you retire if you enjoyed the place so much as to want to be an admin? Take a wikibreak bu tplease, don't over-react. Pedro :  Chat  20:56, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

I agree. Please don't retire - a failed Rfa like that one should not be taken as a criticism of what your are doing, far from it - it's just an indication that those who commented don't think you are ready just yet. I think all who responded said that it's just a matter of experience. So take a short break if you must, then come back and keep doing what you're doing and broaden your experience, but please don't give up on the Project. – ukexpat (talk) 21:00, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi, sorry about the way that RFA went. I was still going through you CSD tagging and I have to say I was rather impressed. Hope you stick around and try again in a few months. It took me two attempts... ϢereSpielChequers 21:15, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
My friend Immunize, you are doing great work, but you chose not to take my advice and applied too soon. Your application was all over and done before I noticed that you had applied. You have found your niche in fighting vandalism. You have admirable energy—too much on one occasion and that was the only reason I blocked you. I needed to slow you down a little. Please do not leave us. I know it seems like an epoch to you, but most editors only get those one or two extra admin buttons after a year or two. Also, adminship is no big deal! As I have said to you before, many of the the editors that I, and many other Wikipedians, have the highest regard for are not admins. I can understand why you want to be recognised as a valued contributor. But you already are! Trust me, Wikipedia would be a poorer encylopedia without you. Graham. Graham Colm (talk) 22:49, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Agree with all above. You've been valuable to en.wp; keep up the good work. –xenotalk 00:51, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Deletion nomination of Talk:Brain stem tumor

blanked page

Hi Immunize, this is a message from an automated bot, regarding Talk:Brain stem tumor. You blanked the page and, since you are its sole author, FrescoBot has interpreted it as a request for deletion of the page and asked administrators to satisfy the requests per speedy deletion criterion G7. Next time you want a page that you've created deleted, you can explicitly request the deletion by inserting the text {{db-author}}. If you didn't want the page deleted, please remove the {{db-author}} tag from the page and undo your blanking or put some content in the page. Admins are able to recover deleted pages. Please do not contact the bot operator for issues not related with bot's behaviour. Don't Quit!!!

Sir, allow me to quote Churchill:

"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

I've only been around here about a month, to speak of, and I think you are very valuable to this work.

Now get your a$$ back here!

Very best regards: Cliff L. Knickerbocker, MS (talk) 01:42, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, even if you nominated the DoF as well as my page for MfD, I am not grudging. I mean, you are always fighting vandalism, and imo you're quite good at it. If you retire, then there will be one fewer person to revert bad-faith edits. That's terrible. So please reconsider and come back. If you want a successful RfA, you might want to try doing something different from what you usually do, since admins should have experience in all areas. Speedy deletion declined: User:Zippy3576

Hello Immunize, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Zippy3576, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Author has not requested deletion, or other users have added substantial content. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 15:29, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

But in the page history it shows that the user blanked the page? Does that not apply as a CSD G7? Immunize (talk) 15:31, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

...but it's a userpage, not an article. Userpages are like whiteboards - write on, wipe off. Generally they only get deleted when they really don't meet guidelines, or the user requests it themselves. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 15:41, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
I don't think users own their user pages or their user page edit histories. If someone leaves, these may be deleted as a courtesy. Stephen B Streater (talk) 15:45, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Glad you are staying!

I only just now noticed the RFA you opened for yourself, after i came here to thank you especially for offering to nominate me for adminship, and i am really, REALLY glad that Uploadvirus and Kayou got here before i did or i might not have seen you anymore. But before i say anything else, let me do what i came to do first: Thanks. Thanks for offering to nominate me for RFA, because i wouldn't have been there without your sudden though very kind offer of support. Some candidates add a message of thanks to the talk page of every editor involved in the entire procedure, but i think there are better things to do in that time, such as removing vandalism! Even so, a message specifically aimed at you for your irreplaceable support seemed to be an excellent way to spend my time :).

Now for the less pleasant part - the RFA you created for yourself. I guess you already it figured out: RFA is an inherently negative process where you can face a lot of tough criticism, some of which might not seem fair at all. I know the feeling as my own RFA was actually the second RFA with my name on it. My first RFA was held when i had been around for around 9 months, doing what you are also doing - fighting vandalism and trying to help the wiki. Back then i thought i would make a great admin as well, and i was definitely motivated to become one. Seeing that people only oppose you in return stings, up to a point where many promising editors simply write a rant, vandalize a bit and then leave forever as they became disillusioned with Wikipedia. Personally I took a two-day timeout myself to see if the points raised in the RFA were really that bad. In my case they luckily were - it made it easier to understand why people opposed.

But never give up! A failed RFA doesn't mean you aren't doing an excellent job, because you are certainly doing that. Adminship is really what they say it is; You are handed a mop and a bucket, and suddenly you find yourself mopping the floor, cleaning the windows and replacing the toilet paper. The only real difference is that you can handle things such as WP:AIAV reports myself - but there would be no reports whatsoever if it wasn't for vandalism fighters such as yourself! Hence, an admin does little but wander towards things the community points them to :).

If i would offer any advice i would say this: Just keep doing what you are doing now, and have a look in other area's as well to see if there more activities that would seem fun (That way you can always do something else if vandalism patrol starts to become repetative, as it may become at times). What they say is true - The longer you are around here, the more you learn. Don't specifically aim for adminship; In almost two years after the RFA there was rarely a case where i wished i had admin privileges as i could get anything done trough the noticeboards. And who knows - perhaps a kind and friendly user will come around some day, offering to nominate you as well. :)

I know i have been talking a long time, but as a last comment i think you deserve this little shiny for staying around and going back to normal so soon after such an unpleasant experience. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 17:51, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

The Resilient Barnstar
Failed RFA's are never fun, especially not if they only yield opposes. Many editors will leave forever over them, and some take a long break before returning. But it takes someone special to get over it so soon while also returning back to vandalism patrol as if nothing ever changed. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 17:51, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your support, Excirial. I did seriously consider leaving forever after that failed RfA, but then I realized that this would only harm the encyclopedia, as there would be one less vandal-patroller, and after seeing the overwhelming support of my staying (on wikipedia) I made up my mind that I should not retire. I probalny will not start another RfA, or at the very least not for a long while. Best wishes. Immunize (talk) 20:55, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Damn!!! Don't tell me you've decided to stay back!!!

Damn!!! Really. Here I was done with the parties and high-5 slapping between all of us vandalising community that we've finally gotten rid of you and damn, you decide to come back?!?!!??! Come on man, can't you make up your mind once and for all???? But yes, BIG thanks and special personal hugs from all of us trolls, stalkers and page-blanking communities to you for deciding to never run for the RfA again. I mean, we all were almost in shock when we saw you put up your RfA!!!! Think about it, Immunize with Admin blocking tools???? We could have simply given up our net connections if you had succeeded, but thank the mother of god, and we live to see another day. And by the way, if you do decide to run for the RfA again, do please leave a note on ANI and a note on our troll talk (we'll help you put up the RfA), as it would be better to simply leave after you become an admin than be humiliated day and night. Loves, hugs and kisses, your friendly neighbourhood Wikipedia Vandalizer 12:22, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

I am definitely staying on Wikipedia! I realized on Saturday that leaving would only hurt the encyclopedia and make them lose one good vandal-fighter. Best wishes. Immunize (talk) 19:11, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Treatment of melanoma

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Treatment of melanoma. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Melanoma. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Melanoma - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Vipin Hari || talk 13:35, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

I think you need to discuss the matter on the articles talk page. I found your edit because I am part of the Recent changes patrol that looks for vandalism. I apologize if my warnings were overly harsh, I now feel you acted in good faith. Immunize (talk) 19:06, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Is John Birch Society a reliable publisher?

Regarding this recent edit of yours. Could you please discuss why you believe that The John Birch society meets the standards of WP:V as a reliable source on that topic? Thanks for all your work here at Wikipedia. SaltyBoatr (talk) 14:37, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Need some willing hands

Hi Immunize,

I don't know how busy you are at the moment, but if you've got a little time, would you consider helping me out at WP:WikiProject_Medicine/Cleanup listing#Articles_lacking_sources? I've done Sep 2006 and Oct 2006, but the rest need to be screened.

The task is very simple: Click on the article, and figure out if there are any refs at all anywhere on the page. If so, then please take the article off the list, and remove the {{unref}} tag (which is only for articles that contain zero refs, not those with too few refs or no inline refs). If there are still zero refs, then just leave it alone.

Thanks for considering this, WhatamIdoing (talk) 22:47, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I should be able to get around to this sometime or the other, probably today. Immunize (talk) 13:02, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks; I appreciate it. WP:There is no deadline, but I'm hoping to have some of these sections screened before the next time the bot runs (usually every month or two). Particularly with the oldest tags, it seems like someone adds a tag, and then the article improves significantly, but nobody thinks to remove the now-outdated tag. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:55, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
I did some of the work this morning, and I am now continuing to do some of it now (see Discitis). Would you mind looking over the edits just to make sure I am doing it correctly? Best wishes. Immunize (talk) 20:52, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I looked at a sample of about a dozen edits, and they are all correct. I really appreciate your help.
(BTW, a complete answer to your question at the help desk should include "See also: Holy war". ;-) WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:34, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
