WP:AFC Helper News

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Rania Khalek

Hi, do you have the stomach to get into the NPOV issues in the Rania Khalek article? I think making this article NPOV is going to require some delicacy and determination, and I appreciated the comments you made on the Talk page two years ago... Anyway, if you're interested, your help would be much appreciated. Pinkville (talk) 02:31, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Ok, User:Pinkville I’m gonna try to head off this nonsense before you do something unwise and lose your admin tools (I can see that you do good work in other areas of Wikipedia). What you’re doing here is a violation of WP:CANVAS. There’s also WP:COI, WP:INVOLVED and WP:OFFWIKI (see third paragraph) and WP:FORUMSHOP. Of course you are free to make your own opinions on the subject known on the talk page. Volunteer Marek 05:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

THC

The word 'psychedelic' is sometimes used casually/imprecisely as a synonym for 'hallucinogenic'. I think that's what happened in that Wikipedia list. Interestingly, the Pertwee article cited in the cannabinoid section of that list doesn't use the word psychedlic anywhere, nor do two lengthy scientific monographs I found on cannabis and cannabinoids (by Pertwee and by Murphy/Bartke). I couldn't access the book that was citation 2 in that list.

Tellingly, nobody editing the cannabis (drug) article before you had thought to describe it as psychedelic. And in any event, the non-controversial point being made in that sentence has to do with psychoactivity, so there's no need to assert psychedelic-ness. Jbening (talk) 13:44, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

@Jbening: fair enough. It can definitely be said to be in the "hallucinogen" class of drugs, and it fits at least the most closely in the "psychedelic" class (it has psychedelic properties), as it is not a deliriant or dissociative in any way. THC as a psychoactive drug, is a hallucinogen with mostly depressant and some stimulant properties. --IWI (talk) 08:19, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
Maybe psychoactive cannabinoids can be considered their own class of hallucinogen. --IWI (talk) 08:23, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:40, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
