Sans-serif typefaces[edit]

Why did you remove the sans-serif typefaces I added. LPCDDude (talk) 00:12, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

They had no image samples and no Wikipedia pages to connect them to. I placed the ones I know exist such as Quicksand and Francois One in the other section. I would place the so-called "Google width" typefaces if I knew what they were. Inferno986return (talk) 01:39, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Google typefaces[edit]

I got these typefaces from Gmail. Some fonts are actual fonts (like Comic Sans Microsoft) while others are named Sans-Serif, Serif, Fixed Width, Narrow, and Wide. LPCDDude (talk) 00:18, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't delete anything per se, I bundled them in the other typefaces section. Let's open the GMail and see what they are. Admittedly I am currently using GNU/Linux to type this so my results may vary.
While this was an interesting exercise, I don't see anything new here. However I suppose Quicksand and Francois One could be added with some samples.

@Inferno986return:, Quicksand could be sampled off of Futura, Century Gothic, Twentieth Century, ITC Avant Garde Gothic or VAG Rounded. Francois One, on the other hand, looks like Impact.

I was meaning opening Inkscape or Illustrator and making a SVG image demonstrating the typefaces. But it's interesting to see where they are derived from. Inferno986return (talk) 20:40, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Narrow looks like Arial (and probably Helvetica on Apple iOS). On Google Docs on Chromebook OS Arial looks different compared to other Arial. LPCDDude (talk) 22:56, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Different operating systems use different fonts, primarily due to licensing. Arial on Google Docs seems to be called locally so it doesn't appear unless the font is installed on a non-Windows/macOS setup AFAIK. Inferno986return (talk) 23:18, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Impact is serif instead of sans-serif LPCDDude (talk) 23:22, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, Impact is sans-serif. It lacks serifs of any description, though I agree it is awkwardly condensed so it might be tricky to classify. If it wasn't the de facto meme typeface, I wouldn't use it at all.

List of fictional elements, materials, isotopes and subatomic particles[edit]

Please note that per WP:SPS, wikis are not considered reliable sources and should not be used in citations. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 20:37, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 11[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Slate (typeface), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Linotype (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Creating image samples of the fonts[edit]

Hello! While reading an IBM Plex article I have noticed that you created the image samples of the font. Can you tell me please how do you make them? What kind of software do you use to prepare these images? Maybe you have some kind of templates? I was going to do the same job for Cyrillic fonts on Russian Wikipedia, but all my efforts led to much more uglier results than yours :) — Euref (talk) 09:37, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As someone who isn't a graphic designer, it's flattering to receive complements about my work. I made the samples using Inkscape and the colours were taken from IBM's design guidelines. The images are best as .SVG files, however ensure you Object to Path the font so they render correctly in the web browser. If you need further advice, ask. I am happy to help. Inferno986return (talk) 11:53, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I attempted to make a sample, which was a little tricky as it was my first time making a Cyrillic sample. The biggest obstacle is the alphabet seems to comprise of 34 letters which makes the sample much longer to read, still it's a start and I am happy to receive feedback or for you to modify it: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:IBM_Plex_Cyrillic.svg Inferno986return (talk) 16:50, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Orphaned non-free image File:StarControlOriginscoverart.jpeg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:StarControlOriginscoverart.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:53, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Silverspoon-firstedition.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Silverspoon-firstedition.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I made some improvements for Template:Infobox bug a while ago at Template:Infobox bug/sandbox. They improvements add more links and more CVSS data. If you like the changes, would you mind moving them from Template:Infobox bug/sandbox to Template:Infobox bug aswell as moving Template:Infobox bug/sandbox/doc to Template:Infobox bug/doc ? Let me know if you have any questions. BrandonXLF (t@lk) 07:45, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I like your enthusiasm and I want this infobox to be as useful as possible. If it's common for bugs to scored by their severity using SCVSS then go right ahead. My intentions were at least to nail the basics.Inferno986return (talk) 18:12, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks![edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Edit Request[edit]

Hello, I am a fellow Wikipedia user and I would like to request you to make an edit to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_remakes_and_remastered_ports?wprov=sfti1. I am not very smart when it comes to adding links and stuff like that so I would like you to edit it since you’ve made so many edits before now. Could you add Saints Row: The Third Remastered and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_remakes_and_remastered_ports?wprov=sfti1. Thank you in advance and I understand if you are unable to make these edits.
