Punjabi in Bollywood movies[edit]
Dear IL,
I again reverted your edit to the Bollywood article. Yes, there are a few Punjabi words in Bollywood dialogues. There are words from MANY South Asian languages and dialects. Film-makers throw in a word here and there to add authenticity to the setting. However, I don't think that anyone has ever suggested a strong Punjabi linguistic influence (even though many in the film community do come from the Punjab).
If you can come up with an article by a linguist analyzing Bollywood's use of language and stating that Punjabi is heavily used, then it would be appropriate to add that fact to the article.
If you're interested in highlighting the Punjabi-relevant aspects of Bollywood, then it might be appropriate to make a list of films set in the Punjab (like DDLJ); perhaps those make use of Punjabi words or idioms to add local color. You could also do some research re the actual settings where the films were made. This would interest people. Perhaps you could say something in the Bollywood film clans article about the clans that stem from actors who came from the Punjab to Bombay. Zora (talk) 01:12, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
